  • It'd be nice if people didn't cough so obnoxiously during the quiet and delicate parts.

  • I come here when I had a tough day and I need to relax... makes me forget for a time how hard life can be.

  • Only words I will say is

    Flawless

    Beautiful

    Brilliant

  • Maravilhoso!! Parabéns!!

  • Amazingly Perfect, Best interpretation of spianato without a doubt

  • Chopin must have heard the voice of an angel... this kind of music is not human...... Yundi Li, you saved my night... once again!!!!!

  • so sweet :x :x

  • Aaaahhhh...so very, very beautiful...

  • Sheet notes ? .... why should i use sheet notes.... ..... who needs sheet notes.... mhhh... sure, i play complex piano pieces for hours without them...holy....

    Tout a fait d'accord avec vous ! ;-)

  • A more mature interpretation than his, albeit excellent, performance in the Chopin competition. My heart did ache at the mistakes though. I guess it's a high pressure piece. He makes a couple of noticeable slips in the chromatic sections at the end, both in exactly same spot, signifying a fingering issue. Overall, a great performance. Could have done without the cheesy backlighting though.

  • Maravilhoso pianista !!!!!!!!!!

  • chopin! why you die.....

  • Yundi Li should be paid a million dollars for each note he plays. This is what perfection sounds like, people!

  • I think this is Chopin, who came back to life ^_^ just amazing, this andante espianato touched my soul

  • @zoupianist I went to one of his concerts and he made about 20 mistakes in one song. Thats disgusting.

  • @theengineerosu Sound little confused, are you talking about Lang Lang or Yundi?

  • @theengineerosu If the wrong notes were played by Horowitz, you would probably say "Wrong notes makes the piece alive!"

  • B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L-L!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @linkin741 what is your point? no one plays with a few wrong notes........... well mayber there is Michelangeli and try to be a little more polite in your replies mon cher

  • This Andante Spianato is probably the most beautiful thing i ever heard in my life

  • As vezes penso que a pessoa que consegue compor uma música como esta não tem mais "pecados" pra pagar nesse mundo. Pra cá onde estamos, nesse nível que estamos, uma pessoa assim não deve voltar mais.

  • Wow. This is how you play Chopin.

  • mad piano skills.

  • Merci beaucoup bravo

  • Beautiful clarity. Loved his Chopin competition performance of Chopin's 1st concerto also. Sounds like he's using a tad of rubato for emphasis. He' playing this like he's more seasoned. I kind of liked that competition sound a little better. He was very strict in his time. This has those fractional delays in it, for a little more virtuosic effect. They are both excellent, just a bit different sounding. Chopin gets played a little too romantically sometimes. They aren't all nocturnes. Awesome!

  • You are much improved than the last time you played!

  • Also 6:50-6:51 the right hand is supposed to be a double thirds scale instead he played exactly the same as the first statement of this theme. LOL I suppose he gives so many concerts now compared to when he was competing that this kind of sloppiness is all too human.

  • it shows that they're just humans like us! :) on their way to perfect themselves.

  • Looking at these comments about a few memory slips recalls the words of Horowitz which went like: No wrong notes usually means BORING playing!

  • @TJFNYC212 that paired with sophistication in his playing proves the greatness of this performance!

  • i just love this spianato :)

  • One of my favorite Chopin pieces...Yundi Li plays this....perfectly. :)

  • Sublime interprétation, amazing

  • One guy is clearly deaf.

  • Despite the 3 obvious mistakes that were listed :-

5:07 - 5:08, 12:34 - 12:35 & 13:05 - 13:06, we are still lucky to see him performed this song after 10 years. His overall performance is way more mature than in 2000. Not an easy piece though!!

  • @kctan71 yes thats true... but i think its not big mistakes

  • 何回聞いても素晴らしいですね(^-^)

  • I think Yundi Li is tecnically perfect, but according to my sensibility the Andante is not really inspired... It sounds almost "bachian"! Anyway a wonderful exibhition :)

  • @guarlilla Chopin didn't like too much Rubato, mister gorilla

  • It's weird to see such consumate professionals make such glaring errors. I've been fortunate enough in the times I have performed not to have forgot any parts, but you could even tell the anxiety carried over for the rest of the piece. Still would trade my left nut to be able to play this piece as well as him though.

  • Not gonna lie. I absolutely love Yundi Li, don't get me wrong, but he really chopped the Grande Polonaise Brillante in this performance :\

  • Beautiful!!!! But, 12:34 - 12:35 & 13:05-13:06..poor Yundi, he must feel terrible that he couldn't remember that part :((((...and it happened not once but twice ><. Still a 5 star performance!!

  • @dynamo116 and 5:07 - 5:08

  • absolutely, positively, utterly... amazing.

  • Ok he is good as always, but can anyone tell me why didn't he play the chromatic scale in the second appearance of the main theme?

  • The way his hands float over the keys is purely beautiful

  • This's one of the best, magnificent, supereme version in Youtube

  • Chopin is in his soul.

  • such a beautiful technique ! so fluent & soft...yet an outstanding articulation..

  • @sebulban You have to remember that a lot of that is the fact that this was recorded much better than most piano concerts on youtube, and that's why you have clarity and warmth. He is incredible, but part of the effect is the great quality of recording.

  • Sublime. Simply sublime.
