@SkaffBear Sure you've got the right....and the more criticism you throw at @MBarosso75 and the eu the better!. The UK leaving the eu wont mean people having to return home, but it would restrict the numbers coming in in the future. Even you've got to agree that this open border policy is stupid with the amount of unemployed here...
I personally think the unemployment in Uk (but trust me, it's the same all over Europe) is more directly a consequence of the free open market, which allowed european corporations to delocalize in third world countries, which basically put us europeans in competition with very low salaries. It's the same that happens inside our countries actually, cause they allow poor people to get in, which immediately increases competition for jobs, which results in lower salaries. Always a win-win for them.
@SkaffBear Correct!. I witnessed highly skilled I.T. workers from E.Europe doing manual work in a warehouse here. The reason being that the wages were so low back home. Scum of the earth...really well said. I wonder if people like MBarroso75 know that the ones who look like politicians in the EU are basically private companies workers which pretend to work for the people but in reality only works for their private employers. Romano Prodi (former EU comm) runned as left wing in Italy and he is a fervent neo-liberist. He privatezed more than Berlusconi (right wing) did, making very bad business for the ITA PIL and very good ones for Goldman Sachs.
@SkaffBear We've got them everywhere!. One company which has made £m's over the last few years is called A4e. This company puts people on ' Placement '...working for nothing. A4e gets paid by the govt. to take the long term unemployed off the figures. They kept getting the contract to do this from the Labour govt., whilst paying D.Blunkett ( Former Labour govt. minister ) £30,000 a year!...Corrupt!
I think you are pushing the wrong buttons :) I live in UK but I am not British, I am Italian. If you just look at the character of these two people and their body structure and personal charisma you will know that you are in the "gelly" department. Study "Political Ponerology" and you will know what really drives them - there are not alone - most of the high positions all over the world are in the same "league" - when evil speaks.
You people are full of crap, it's time the English got this!
They want power but don't follow the euro and other stuff from europe but they want the power! And Herman will be a good president... I can't believe some of you faggots say such things!
Do you know what is the Lisbon treaty about? EU comission produce a lot of regulations witch no one needs. They just don't like private sector and medium class. EU by passing the lisbon treaty showed us how big is democratic deficit.
@r8448 haha putin is extremely talented - that's what's so scary - to put bush and putin in the same category shows how little you know - bush was a puppet - putin IS the chief architect! ram pompy whatever is a nobdy, unelected and very unimpressive - farage eats him for breakfast - putin doesn't need to bother with him at all
@rugbyboy198127 Putin was once the puppet of the KGB and putin has architected nothing yet except keeping alive a corrupted government system that let the people down... The only good president that Russia ever had was Gorbatjov.. Vanrompuy does the hard labor behind the screens, not the things we get used to from big mouthed UK - politicians with an attitude like Basil Fawlty
@r8448 i am not arguing as to whether or not putin is a god man... that is irrelevant - i'm saying he is not stupid - bush was stupid! haha you cannpt compare basil fawlty with farage - i do not care what are the 'good' intentions of van rompy pompy - he is taking away my democracy and the sovereignty of my country - therefore he is my sworn enemy - i am an englishman, i enjoy my freedom and i will fight to the death to keep it - my future should be decided by the enlgish, irish, scots&welsh notEU
@rugbyboy198127 Well yeah, we would be very glad if the English, Scotch and especially the Irish would leave the EU... They are on the border of bankruptcy and costs the EU a lot of money to help them... Lukely for the Irish is Vanrompuy not a greedy Scotch. ;)
@r8448 ARE YOU HAVING A LAUGH? EU costs the UK so much more than it gives it - ireland are so far in debt cos they joined the euro! yes britain has very bad debt but we are in a better position to deal with the debt than most european countries - we are not such a risk, london is a financial centre of the world, UK has its commonwealth relationships and trade, we are much closer to usa and our former colonies than to europe. Europe needs UK badly, whereas UK better off without the current EU lot
@r8448 heil heil? you insult an englishman by using such language - you would be saying heil heil right now if it wasn't for us - face the truth - this EU is undemocratic and fascist my friend if you cant see that then god help you! at least i make points rather than just insult you as you appear to try to do to me! i'm so happy to live in britain, we are the only country in europe never to have suffered under dictatorship or fascism - why? cos we are free people, we think differently to you...!
@rugbyboy198127 Oh yeah, be proud! At least I don't have to pay the bill of the Iraq-war trough taxes you're big übermenschen nation Brittain has lost... At least Germany is the only country with a solvable and growing economy that makes the Euro stable. If it has to come from GB and friends, then we were doomed, like I said in my previous comment. And don't blame the EU of your poor economic situation, my friend... Your country is sold out to the Chinese(MG, Rover,....)
@r8448 well yes i would have to agree with what you have just said... it is accurate!i'm amazed the german people are accepting this current situation - you are single handed proping up the whole of europe, it is true, germany has the only remotely stable economy in europe and the best social welfare and highest living standards... yes we sold out to china as has america - but its an inter-dependant relationship - china sells most of her goods to uk+usa! i like germany - you need deutchmark back
You can tell clearly that they chose him because he is weak and can be moulded to do what they want him too. What a joke Europe has become. A declining continent.
What's the difference? "Democracy" means majority wins, and that's all. It does'nt mean "free" If it's a "Democracy" then why do we have a "two party system" and we don't allow "independent parties" to be eligible for presidency? germany under hitler was also a "Democracy" We need to stop putting faith into a tried and failed political system, all forms of government are a form of communism, and no communist state thrives in any way.
Hey look the system the european government is run by can be changed until we can get it running perfectly if we vote and bring new things to the government management it will be ok rotation is welcome back and lisbon was chosen by the people for the trade and had contrary to the UK and republic fair play !!!!! If we want we can make another higher form of representation of the european people and we can just VOTE HIM OUT
This douche bag was not elected by the people. Only 1 of 27 countries were allowed to vote on the Lisbon Treaty. Only the irish were allowed to vote. EU bureaucrats "forced" repeated votes until they capitulated. EU citizens are not allowed to elect the president, he was appointed by the EU council. The people everywhere need to "demand" the right to elect it's politicians and "demand" witness to it's fairness and the counts. This is "our world" not theirs!
he seems good. Small country is good. I hate when bigger countries runs smaller ones. Like US invaded Grenada in the 80:s, like Hitler invaded Poland, like Russia invaded the Baltics etc. Smaller countries should have more power to keep balance in the world.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
fatboyBlitz i think you are looking big dick, i can put my dick in to the your fucking ass, fucking italian gay, fuck europe, and EU prisedent he is an asshole same as you,
Adolf Hitler used the pretence that a dictatorship would solve the world's ills too.
GLOBAL management he says? If only people had listened before. To get us out of this will take a party with the balls of the nationalists to turn the whole Euro project for Britain upside-down.
Paste 'COMMUNIST' EUROPEAN UNION: AR*EHOLES OF THE LAND UNITE for a grimly satirical view of our treasonous betrayal by our verminous politicians.
I can't imagine having a permanent anything. NWO is right. How could so many people go for this? I mean, we're brain-dead here in the U,S, - but not this bad.
You're even more brain-dead in the US than you think. He's not permanent as in for life, but as in he will be active also between European Council meetings (which take place roughly every 3 months for a couple of days). Term in office is 2.5 years, renewable once.
Don't tell me about it - smart-ass - I'm not no EU politician. Tell it to the person that did the write-up to the right of the video. You see what it says over there - permanent president of the European Council. I guess the morons in the EU think "Permanent" means 2.5 years. If it's 2.5 years - you say 2.5 years - not permanent.
Permanent = continuing or enduring without marked change in status or condition or place. Not what you think it means, isn't it? There's plenty of information at your fingertips on the internet about what are the actual responsibilities of the European Council President (clue: he has no executive powers), about why is this going to be a permanent job compared with the rotating presidency of today.
I agree with toxicduck. If you don't know what you are talking about, hemihead, don't force your opinion. Like td said, Van Rompuy will only chair and organise the meetings of the European Counsil. He's not the sort of leader for Europe as Obama is for The United States. Rompuy has already shown his great qualities succeeding to stabilise a distorted Belgium. Just like Obama: modest, qualified, hard-working. He gives the best of him every day, so show some respect please..
I think you're pissing in the wind - my friend. I never said a damn thing bad about Van Rompuy. I've read about him holding different groups of people together and think there should be more like him. I don't even know what comment you're replying to. Why don't you tell me. I remember talking about permanent positions in the EU because that's what it said in the write-up next to the video. I don't care how good a politician is, appointing somebody for life is stupid. To many things change.
True, you never said a thing about him. But your negative attitude towards the EU says enough to me. He is not appointed for life, let's make that clear. That not the way things go in the EU. And even if he was, his influence is very small. They call him a "president", but don't interpretate that word like you would in the US. Oppointing somebody for life is -like you said- stupid. But he isn't. It's pretty stupid to think he is just because you sough permanent on television imo... (English bad)
I don't think you know what you're getting yourself into. In the U.S. we elect the person with the catchy name. Just look at all the shit we've got ourselves into doing that. Here's a piece of advice - you vote for the person with brains - and the person that'll protect you country's interests. You get a President like George Bush, and he'll outsource you whole friggin country to watch his stock price go up.
Second, no one is the boss. Rompuy will chair and organize the meetings of the European Council where all the heads of state in EU meet every three months. When the European Council agrees on something, it's up to the European Commission where Barosso is president to act according to their will, that is implement decisions, propose legislation to the European Parliament, uphold EU treaties, stuff like that. Their responsibilities don't overlap.
I kid you not!
hey how can this happen when i looked the european presidency was held one country at a time
then i went surfing came back and europe has one man has european president how did that happen
I remember when ireland took the first presidency of the european union it was said that ireland would hold presidency and we would deside if there would be one single eueopean president
and with the confusion of lisbon
there was a european president in forced with out any vote
as a turk i thank the malodorous whale carcass called he E.U for choosing this guy as your next president. now for our sake lets cancel negotiations for once and for all
The EU, how undemocratic it may be, is still a W A Y better form of cooperation then any thing in the muslim world. While Europeans are working together besides the fact that they speak so many different languages, the arab world (just one language) is as divided as a kindergarden.
If the US doesn't wake up and use the momentum President Obama is buidling I hope the EU starts to take advantage of it and turn the tables on the greedy right wing here.
Borrosso remains President of the Commission, the only body with the power to initiate legislation, as well as being the boss of the new High Representative (since Baroness Ashton will be vice-president of the Commission). As for where the balance of power lies - it's hard to tell. I'd say this cements national leaders as the main actors, but keeps Barrosso as the most important purely EU-level politician. Also, the Parliament had a great deal more influence over the result than in the past.
You - we - all need to relaize ome thing: Only four other countries actually care about the Swedes.
The best thing we could do would be to say good riddance to the whole EU project - and stay with the other Nordic countries.
We would be wealthier, happier, more democratic, stronger on the world stage, even totally self sufficient in all important areas - I cant think of any reason not to go down that road.
You can't think of any reason? Well, I recommend you look up how much Scandinavian econoimies depend on export. And then, if you're intellectually capable, try to figure out what harm the loss of free trade with a 400 million people-strong market would cause.
maybe he is a good guy to deal with the interests of the different countries and find common ground... but I don't like some of his views, espacially that Turkey shouldn't join the EU simply because of its muslim population. he says the EU is christian and only for christians. I disagree on that. i think thats stupid and narrow minded.
you reflect his views very simplistic. It's more the problem that we would have. We have already a substantial muslim population in Europa that causes some problems because of problems with integration. So a nation of 80milion muslims could bring it fair share of problems. The mentality gap is just to big. The wealth gap is also big. but the mentality gap is probly the biggest problem.
Furengi: Do you know any muslims at all? If so, please tell me the 3 major differences that exist between an muslim and you that doesnt exist anywhere else e.g. "where the gap is too big"
- Muslims will always keep speaking their native language at home and with their friends. They practically all have undevelopped language skills. Which leads to working problems.
- Muslims don't seem to like working.
- Muslim parents don't use condoms. They make over 10 children where they don't look at who will then end up on the street bothering people.
Yes, but if the European leaders decide otherwise, he would be unable to do anything about it. Anyway, at the pace Turkey makes democratic and economic reforms and negotiates with the EU on the aquis, I wouldn't be surprised if Morocco would enter the EU before them.
toji85: who cares if he's good or evil? who cares about his agenda? We(the people) have not elected him so who gives a fuck. In my eyes his no more President a.k.a Leader of anything then I'm Spanish. So i believe your missing the MAIN point here: He got no mandate of the people to deal with our interests so he should fuck off, and we should activevly work to get rid of him
The Lisbon treaty was ratified so the governments of Europe agreed to create these functions. Since these governments are representatives of the people, the people decided to make these functions. The leaders of our governments elected him to do the job. Seen as they are the leaders of the representatives of our countries(they are the ultimate representatives of the people) they have the right to speak and vote in name of the people. If you don't like it vote them out of office = democracy.
The majority of the people of Europe were not asked whether they wanted to pass the treaty which would create this post in the first place. Those who got a chance to vote gave the wrong answer and were forced to choose again.
There was no public consultation on this appointment, no televised debates, only swanky dinners behind closed doors.
If that's your idea of democracy it sounds like a pretty third rate one to me.
Maybe you should adjust your idea of democracy. For instance Blair didn't ask the British people whether they wanted to go to Iraq, he just did, as is his right as a ELECTED representative.
Democracy isn't about having as many referenda as possible, 99,9% of laws aren't voted by anyone but parliament.
dnbwhynot: What kind of weird view do you have of democracy? How can I or we get rid of this new president by voting out our prime minister?
Like you said there's 26 other people involved so how do I vote them out?
If it's true democracy answer this question, is a simple one: How can I AS CITIZEN of Sweden(europe) get rid off the lisbon treaty or any other treaty that will come in the future(if any)?
Vote for 'Eurosceptics', vote for a anti-European party.
You allowed for all leaders of all members ( representatives of the people) to select the people for these 2 newly created functions as stipulated in the Lisbon treaty which was ratified by all EU governments. If you(swedes) vote for a government that is willing to draft and ratify this treaty I don't really see how that is undemocratic. Besides he is just a president in name not in function.
Like Barosso was chosen by the people. This man has achieved to reach compromises in a strongly divided society. In your retarded country they're still digging up bodies from the falangist regime. While this man's country was one of the founding members, your country was still a fascist dictatorship. it's YOU who should FUCK OFF.
Cutting ribbons... What they are doing for Europe is ruining the EU with all their stupendous regulations. What a bunch of @ssholes...

@r8448 haha putin is extremely talented - that's what's so scary - to put bush and putin in the same category shows how little you know - bush was a puppet - putin IS the chief architect! ram pompy whatever is a nobdy, unelected and very unimpressive - farage eats him for breakfast - putin doesn't need to bother with him at all
rugbyboy198127 10 months ago
@rugbyboy198127 Putin was once the puppet of the KGB and putin has architected nothing yet except keeping alive a corrupted government system that let the people down... The only good president that Russia ever had was Gorbatjov.. Vanrompuy does the hard labor behind the screens, not the things we get used to from big mouthed UK - politicians with an attitude like Basil Fawlty
r8448 10 months ago
@r8448 i am not arguing as to whether or not putin is a god man... that is irrelevant - i'm saying he is not stupid - bush was stupid! haha you cannpt compare basil fawlty with farage - i do not care what are the 'good' intentions of van rompy pompy - he is taking away my democracy and the sovereignty of my country - therefore he is my sworn enemy - i am an englishman, i enjoy my freedom and i will fight to the death to keep it - my future should be decided by the enlgish, irish, scots&welsh notEU
rugbyboy198127 10 months ago
@rugbyboy198127 Well yeah, we would be very glad if the English, Scotch and especially the Irish would leave the EU... They are on the border of bankruptcy and costs the EU a lot of money to help them... Lukely for the Irish is Vanrompuy not a greedy Scotch. ;)
r8448 10 months ago
@r8448 ARE YOU HAVING A LAUGH? EU costs the UK so much more than it gives it - ireland are so far in debt cos they joined the euro! yes britain has very bad debt but we are in a better position to deal with the debt than most european countries - we are not such a risk, london is a financial centre of the world, UK has its commonwealth relationships and trade, we are much closer to usa and our former colonies than to europe. Europe needs UK badly, whereas UK better off without the current EU lot

r8448 10 months ago
@r8448 heil heil? you insult an englishman by using such language - you would be saying heil heil right now if it wasn't for us - face the truth - this EU is undemocratic and fascist my friend if you cant see that then god help you! at least i make points rather than just insult you as you appear to try to do to me! i'm so happy to live in britain, we are the only country in europe never to have suffered under dictatorship or fascism - why? cos we are free people, we think differently to you...!
rugbyboy198127 10 months ago
@rugbyboy198127 Oh yeah, be proud! At least I don't have to pay the bill of the Iraq-war trough taxes you're big übermenschen nation Brittain has lost... At least Germany is the only country with a solvable and growing economy that makes the Euro stable. If it has to come from GB and friends, then we were doomed, like I said in my previous comment. And don't blame the EU of your poor economic situation, my friend... Your country is sold out to the Chinese(MG, Rover,....)
r8448 10 months ago
@r8448 well yes i would have to agree with what you have just said... it is accurate!i'm amazed the german people are accepting this current situation - you are single handed proping up the whole of europe, it is true, germany has the only remotely stable economy in europe and the best social welfare and highest living standards... yes we sold out to china as has america - but its an inter-dependant relationship - china sells most of her goods to uk+usa! i like germany - you need deutchmark back

If we want we can make another higher form of representation of the european people and we can just VOTE HIM OUT
donwan99 2 years ago
This douche bag was not elected by the people. Only 1 of 27 countries were allowed to vote on the Lisbon Treaty. Only the irish were allowed to vote. EU bureaucrats "forced" repeated votes until they capitulated. EU citizens are not allowed to elect the president, he was appointed by the EU council. The people everywhere need to "demand" the right to elect it's politicians and "demand" witness to it's fairness and the counts. This is "our world" not theirs!

I can't imagine having a permanent anything. NWO is right. How could so many people go for this? I mean, we're brain-dead here in the U,S, - but not this bad.
HemiHead66 2 years ago
You're even more brain-dead in the US than you think. He's not permanent as in for life, but as in he will be active also between European Council meetings (which take place roughly every 3 months for a couple of days). Term in office is 2.5 years, renewable once.
toxicduck 2 years ago
Don't tell me about it - smart-ass - I'm not no EU politician. Tell it to the person that did the write-up to the right of the video. You see what it says over there - permanent president of the European Council. I guess the morons in the EU think "Permanent" means 2.5 years. If it's 2.5 years - you say 2.5 years - not permanent.
HemiHead66 2 years ago

He gives the best of him every day, so show some respect please..
stijndenbeir 2 years ago
I think you're pissing in the wind - my friend. I never said a damn thing bad about Van Rompuy. I've read about him holding different groups of people together and think there should be more like him. I don't even know what comment you're replying to. Why don't you tell me. I remember talking about permanent positions in the EU because that's what it said in the write-up next to the video. I don't care how good a politician is, appointing somebody for life is stupid. To many things change.
HemiHead66 2 years ago
True, you never said a thing about him. But your negative attitude towards the EU says enough to me. He is not appointed for life, let's make that clear. That not the way things go in the EU. And even if he was, his influence is very small. They call him a "president", but don't interpretate that word like you would in the US. Oppointing somebody for life is -like you said- stupid. But he isn't. It's pretty stupid to think he is just because you sough permanent on television imo... (English bad)

Their responsibilities don't overlap.

stijndenbeir 2 years ago
lucaboris 2 years ago

lol
SmileLoveForgive 2 years ago
Borrosso remains President of the Commission, the only body with the power to initiate legislation, as well as being the boss of the new High Representative (since Baroness Ashton will be vice-president of the Commission). As for where the balance of power lies - it's hard to tell. I'd say this cements national leaders as the main actors, but keeps Barrosso as the most important purely EU-level politician. Also, the Parliament had a great deal more influence over the result than in the past.

The best thing we could do would be to say good riddance to the whole EU project - and stay with the other Nordic countries.
We would be wealthier, happier, more democratic, stronger on the world stage, even totally self sufficient in all important areas - I cant think of any reason not to go down that road.

you reflect his views very simplistic.

Falsare 2 years ago 2
The Lisbon treaty was ratified so the governments of Europe agreed to create these functions. Since these governments are representatives of the people, the people decided to make these functions. The leaders of our governments elected him to do the job. Seen as they are the leaders of the representatives of our countries(they are the ultimate representatives of the people) they have the right to speak and vote in name of the people. If you don't like it vote them out of office = democracy.
dnbwhynot 2 years ago
@dnbwhynot
The majority of the people of Europe were not asked whether they wanted to pass the treaty which would create this post in the first place. Those who got a chance to vote gave the wrong answer and were forced to choose again.
There was no public consultation on this appointment, no televised debates, only swanky dinners behind closed doors.
If that's your idea of democracy it sounds like a pretty third rate one to me.
rc12069 2 years ago
Maybe you should adjust your idea of democracy. For instance Blair didn't ask the British people whether they wanted to go to Iraq, he just did, as is his right as a ELECTED representative.
Democracy isn't about having as many referenda as possible, 99,9% of laws aren't voted by anyone but parliament.
