Great video. Even though it will never get a tonn of views, this is an important and interesting historical document. No SUVS and not a single obese person. What a time! and not that long ago either.
wow I was born and raised in the bronx and this sure brings back some memories of how great the 80's was lets see october 1987 i was in junior high school 162 in the 8th grade... I LOVE MY NEW YORK BACK THEN
I first went to New York City in 1997 from England and having been obssessed with the place throughout my childhood it was like walking in a dream, not just Manhattan but Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. I went to them all. Ive been back four times since but Ieish I could have gone in the late 70s when it was at its grittiest. Long live NYC
Sorry but i dont understand that nogalstic stuff. The 80's were sure different than the 00's or 10's. What you except? That all still be the same? the 30's were different than the 50's and so on. Live in the the recent and not in the past. In my eyes only the cars are changed. The people, the city scenes are all the same.
@luckyluckymali Who said it's nostalgic stuff, why are you assuming only the old are watching this? Interest in history doesn't only come from nostalgia. And it is an arrogance of today to assume that the present is better than the past. The past can be helpful lessons on building the future. Knowing the past can help things to be better today.
@weaponexpert1 Only REAL NEW YORKERS like myself would appreciate a vid like this, weapon! And believe me, the memories really do come to the surface. I remember EVERY DETAIL of where I was and what I was doing in October 1987....New York then was a world better than today. It lost it's style and soul now and ,as far as I'm concerned, it's nothing more than just a NAME! P.S. Yeah, you're right: NO UGLY, REPULSIVE SUVs! It was BEAUTIFUL!!

@ursa41 I don't know about that. I would say the design of cars today and fashion today has more soul and style. But on the other hand the old New York does seem to be more authentic, not putting on a show to hustle in tourists from the world but is just being New York.
@mornnb In regards to the automobile today, I am unable to tell one from the other. They're all the same and, frankly, they bore me lol! Fashion never changes; it simply emulates a combo of styles from the 1960s-1980s, reinforcing the famous saying, "the more things change, the more they remain the same". What I miss indeed is the "old NYC" from back then. A bit more dangerous? Perhaps, but being "native", I've toughened it out and ergo was never a big deal for me. MISS THE OLD NEW YORK! :-)
Chrysler New Yorker Taxi at 0:27,that's the same exact one on my brother's Seinfeid poster.
