Marxist-Leninism is the greatest thing that happened to those countries.
  • @Crazyneutron, reviewed the background of Sergei Kourdakov on wikipedia, and was disappointed by his involvement in an evangelical religious movement. We should not exchange one devil for another, no matter how "holy" the pretenses. Just look at Russia, and the corrupt state nakedly intertwined with the corrupt church. Although no religion (i.e., atheism) is not necessarily of benefit by itself, religion is part of the state and will always be, due to its pro-authoritarian hierarchical nature.

  • @Crazyneutron, thank you, I will check that book. Here is a view from a communist revolutionary who participated in the revolution, Kropotkin, to clarify what I am referring to. Google "Intelligentsia and revolution: Russian views of Bolshevism, 1917-1922" which you could access free online, go to page 99. Kropotkin refers to Bolshevism as "state communism", "a contradiction in terms", which as I suggested amounts to "state capitalism". We should not be surprised about what happened next.

  • i see every day how my country is destroying, cus of fucking capitalism, and oligarchs. And i want communism, yes i didn't live in that period, but i want it. I want when the clever goverment supervise all our life. It is much better , when 'Gazprom' asks too high prices for gas , for our brothers Byelorussians. And when Uckrains govermant with Bulgarian(we were friends right?) licks a bum of the USA and European Union. Sorry for rude words. I love all countries, but now i have really bad mood

  • I hope that all russian scums die and russia itself seize to exist

  • USSR was a masked State Capitalist country. By 1991 the shameful facade of "communism" came off and the naked state capitalism was revealed. The old party bosses became the new oligarchs, e.g., the Putin gang - now leaner and meaner without even the pretense of "socialism / communism" which they never ever represented. But that is how capitalists operate - opportunistically. How many more times are the Russian people going to be fooled? Let's hope no more - not just in Russia, but anywhere.

  • @Evolving001 Yes, same story in Croatia .. and i believe it is a same story in other former communist countries ... 99 percent of the people are too blind to see the problem and they do not have a will to change things ... if they just only knew that those capital bastards are the same former communist bastards ... i know that communism is utopia but i also know that capitalism when it is uncontrolled can jeopardize elemental human rights ...

  • @Crazyneutron, I hope you did not misinterpret my response. What I tried to express is that the entire Soviet Union, Eastern Block, Cuba, etc. were never "communist / socialist" to begin with.

  • @Evolving001 I didnt misinterpret. I have just read one very interesting book , the title is " Forgive me Natasha " in other countries title is " The Persecutor " from Sergei Kourdakov ... if anyone is really interested to find out the real life of communism in USSR this is the right book. No one lives communism not even Stalin himself who is directly involved in killing millions of Russians and bottom line is how too deceive people and get on top of the authority !

  • @Crazyneutron, although in the beginning the working class tried. People were not ready, lacked experience in autonomy and self-government. Govts are always repressive, represent a ruling class.

  • USSR "THE DARK EMPIRE"

Better to live in the dark than die in the light.

Life expectancy was 65 in USSR, now its 56.

Authoritarian capitalism simply isn't working for most Russians...

Oligarchs and Criminals are the only winners

  • I truly wish the Great Soviet Union could rise again so the country would be in the hands of its people and not by maffia and ultra-capitalistic crooks who are selling it out piece by piece!!!

Russia to the people and not to a few!!!

  • @Therunner8891 Hmmm... Stalin and his purges. You wan't that again?

  • This smacks heavily of propaganda. This "journalist" went in with his story already plotted out, and tailored and edited his piece to fit that story. And who in the hell is a Brit to lecture another nation on birth rate? Though Russia is undeniably in a rough place, I have little doubt that she is on a healthy road, whereas Britain, like so many other western European nations, will be an Islamic republic within a century.

  • Nazi?

LOL. You are just a little polish bastard, who should know that russian people are the most democratic and multiculture-oriented people in the world. That's why we are great. And that's why you, polish rats, are sick. You treat us like a rubbish, like second sort men, like asian barbarians. You want to dominate, to possess us, but along all the history you just suck the big one, idiots :P

  • I thought things like expelling people from their own houses and driving people to the streets can only happen in overcrowded countries like China and India. I don't know what to say, people do not have a place to sleep even in the largest country on earth.

  • IMHO, Russia is dying because of the corruption of the government, the government don give a shit about the common fellow and then they use ethnic minorities as an escape goat, when what they need to do is to stop wasting the resources of the country and start to invest in the improvement of the life of the people. I'm Cuban and i love Russia and also love and respect the Russian people.

  • Wait.....the collapse of communism? Isn't Russia still a communist country

  • @sassy2161

nope, contemporary Russia is just a crime-country

  • fucking british propaganda

dying from poverty, alcoholism, disease and neglect.

Can happen like that in every country

  • @crazy3641

Yea but it seems to be happening at a higher rate in Russia is what he meant.

  • @crazy3641

are U simply a moron? look at russian life expectancy, murder statistics and shut the fuck up.

  • bit obvious he's a socialist

  • "Death of a nation"? Sounds a bit like they want that. Russia has been through much tougher times (Civil War, Stalinism, genocide by Hitler) and still survived. Not even 20 years after Hitler, the first man went to space. Right now Russia is all but dead, so I guess these people are verbalizing their dream.

  • Russia might have a lot of problems, but in the end Russia will prevail.

  • Russias leaders have a history of treating its people like shit cazas bolsheviks commnunists and capitalists in Moscow

  • LOL this old news, birth rate increased by 25% sense then and death has gone down by 13%., and getting better by every year.

  • This is great news. Russia rots in a red, white and blue box!

  • I don't think it's the rich and I don't think it's Moscow. The fall of the soviet union fucked Russia HARD. Do you not think that such an event wouldn't have consequences for multiple decades to come?

First WW2 then the cold war; Russia has been pretty well brutalized as a country. It's citizens have seen a lot of bad shit go down. People pretend that doesn't have an effect. War, economic depression, addiction, mortality rate, crime, these all feed into each other.

  • @FSquid Very good and honest analysis. Congratulations on an insightful perspective.

  • british bullshit about russia

    cherry picking information

i could have britain look like a third world country if that was the aim of my decumentary...

  • Looks and sounds just like Louis!

  • I cried when she said 'there are abandoned children'

I really love Russian culture; you kind of wonder whats worth fighing for than having a country say its proud of 'its' billionaires! But I aint gonna lie; I'll take US Capitalism Bullsh*t anyday over Russian democracy!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @chelxeaty Why you cry? You should be happy, dont be a hypicrite. Its a long western dream coming from napoleon to hitler and US for russians to vanish. It ofc wont happen but the damage is very big.

  • It is simple, The rich in Russia are sucking the country dry. They'll destroy the country getting rich...

  • @CuachicquehRex Sounds like America as well!

  • Welcome to America!!!

  • yep Russia is a dying country the birth rate is in irreversible decline and the muslim population is now at 20% while pensioners make up 50%, now its thoroughly corrupt run by a pseudo dictatorship with no ideology the economy is geared to exporting raw materials that will by all accounts ran out in 20 years and there is no visible improvements the police and govt institutions like healthcare and education are broken, the country has the highes smokers per capita in the world how very sad.

  • watch this /watch?v=SGZEzzYK0dU barack obama vs vladimir putin :)

  • I dont get it, how nation can exterminate its self at such scale and so long?

  • Показали алкоголиков каких-то и типа нация вымирает. В США бомж кварталы покажите и все поверят и этому кино.

  • Не обращайте на эту пропаганду запада !

  • @Bud1UK нет, будем обращать!!

  • It's not about "advantages of free market vs communism", as Theroux keeps repeating. The problem is both systems are CONTROLLED by same people, who have RIGGED the system, who OWN the system.

  • @suddenlyitsobvious It's also a false dichotomy.

  • Haven't watched this completely.

But for what i know, russians are ''fleeing'' russia.

  • 56 average life expectancy in Bosnia? What the fuck, it's a few months higher than the USA's average.

  • I thought Russia's birth rate/population was rising? wierd.

And based on what i have heard, their biggest current problem would be the street crime rate. But I'm probably wrong about that.

I'm American but would very much like to see Russia at some point. And I hope that people here will stop the blind hate against the Russian people :/ I really don't see the reason for it

  • @xJeffxRawrx birth rate/population is rising indeed, but it's still < 1, so population's decreasing. I am russian living in Moscow, so i've nerver faced most of the things shown in this documentary, but the common sence says the film is mostly true. And the worst is the fact that it's a general knowledge already, it's not thriling any more. It's really sad

  • @serkoff

even if its still < 1, isnt a rise in birth rate still good, as it can raise it above that if it continues?

  • Comment removed

  • HOLY SHIT!!! The narrator is like a twin of Louis Theroux!!! I mean the voice and everything!!!!

  • I came from Russia. I moved to U.S in 2000. Moscow should be its own country, rest of the country is dying. Why ? because the pigs in Moscow are selling my nation.

  • @14Russian88 I hear you man, I live here in Florida and there is a large Russian Population near me all nice people even the mailman is Russia, they have a little Russian Market they have some good food there.

  • hahahaha god damn @ 4:40 tonya 37 years old keep on drinking

  • Marcel is no way near as good as Louis. While artistically sound, this docu seems very very biased. Something Louis Theroux often avoids. A dificulty obviously not suited for every journalist. This documentary is flawd from every angle!

  • Marcel has a strong family resemblance to Louis

  • china uses the dollar as a currency, when dealing trades with the international communityl, wether for commodities and/or final goods and service imports. but also uses thge dollar as an insurance policy. you see, if the chinese economy slows down, the dollar will raise in value, therefore chinas reserves raise in value as well. which means they can buy more stuff, and their own currency will depriciate, or at least theyll have an excuse to dep. increasing their exports.

  • Russia has huge opportunities for foreigners to invest. The problem is that it's very difficult to do business there. Dealing with the beaurocracy is impossible to get through.

  • I`m Russian and proud of it.

  • This video is a shit!

I'm living in Russia, and thanks to Stalin with Putin for that I'm living in the greatest country of the world. Britain should looks after itself, cause we are pretty fine "down" here ;)

By the way, our population starts raise up. The Russians are coming...

  • @americanserpent - Stalin was Georgian....and comparing the accomplishments of Stalin to tiny little Putin is a shame.

  • @Iverielii

    Fuck yourself, idiot!

Stalin was russian man with georgian origin. Saakashvili is a degenerative american with georgian origin. Can you see the difference, dumb scumbag?

Putin's accomplishments are not so great, as Stalin's, but he brought a lot of weal for Russia.

  • @americanserpent - are you blind? Look at the current situation in russia. It will only get worse! You have nobody else to thank but Putin himself

  • @Iverielii

I don't need to look at situation, cause I live in Russia! I live here, and I can surely state, that our country is the best country in the world!

What about you — keep read jew chronicles and trust them.

  • @americanserpent - Jew chronicles? Half of the Russian government is Jewish and your media and news is 100% state controlled. You do understand what "state controlled" means right? Your journalists are murdered, the media tells only lies of Putin and everything Putin does not like is destroyed for his power and his money.

By saying Russia is the best country in the world, you have simplified my argument of how clueless you are!

  • @Iverielii

Listen, just fuck up. Sit in your rotten country and jerk off with shut mouth.

Putin is our great leader, and Russia under his rule now is the best place, place where I'm living and enjoying my life! Hurray to Putin, hurray to Russia!

  • @americanserpent

1.) Learn English if you're going to insult someone. You look like a clown.

2.) By your words, you sound like a demented idiot.

3.) I feel sorry for you.

  • @americanserpent - only if you knew how sad you sound. After Putin loses power, everyone will be saying how bad he was. It's part of Russian history. The only people giving you thumbs up, is Russians like yourself.

If my country is rotten, yours must be a giant pile of crap. I've been to Moscow, I've seen it first hand.

  • @Iverielii

"Sadly" sound, dwelling in the "giant pile of crap", nevertheless I'm happy and fully satisfied.

You're not happy — that is obvious. You're a thing, a meaningless element in the inanimate "freedom" mechanism, which is infinitely running up to unachievable utopia.

In USA you have nice learned English, freedom to express, liberty to fuck. In Russia I have heart calmness, which means, that my condition is much better. And that I don't need to argue with a guy stalled in capitalism abyss

  • @americanserpent - You should go tell your desperate fairy tales to another stupid russian. Tell others only if you want to make them laugh.

Your pathetic name says it all. =D

  • @Iverielii

    Some questions.

Which country is the best of the world?

And think about your own question: "You do understand what "state controlled" means right?"

So, the media in the US is complette free?

Why he should learn english? Fact is: It doesnt have to look decent to insult someone....

  • @harrikelm - Let me put it simply. Comparing the freedoms in the U.S. to the freedoms in Russia is simply pathetic. If you won't admit this to yourself, we have nothing further to discuss. =)

  • @Iverielii

    weak answer.

  • @harrikelm - a russian named "americanserpent". Do you need further explanation? A rat who lives in the sewer thinks its the best in the world, because it doesn't know anything else.

  • @Iverielii

a rat which life in the USA dont think about the meaning of the sentence: "You do understand what "state controlled" means right?"

this world isnt black and white....

  • @americanserpent

wow... i didn't expect to read such an idiotic comment praising Stalin. rot in hell, you shit.

  • @toopeek

First of all, let's get one thing straight.

Being a representer of the sick polish people, you obviously don't have any rights to express your views, positions, opinions or anything along those lines. As the result, we have the following: shut the fuck up! You're still alive, bitch, cause of our generosity. But remember: the day, when you'll decide to attack us by any means, will be the day of your end.

As the second of all, see the first clause.

  • @americanserpent

yeah, I know, that the only way to make peace in the word is total extermination of mentally sick, neo-nazi trashes like you. proper gas chamber is indispensable, I believe.

  • @americanserpent

ps. żebyś kurwo zdechła jak najszybciej.

  • Sad.

  • fellow americans, this is what the tea partiers, the so called libertarians, want for our country, with a social christian conservative twist. this is how the united states was from the late 1800s until 1929, this is how russia is today and this is how china is today, thier twisst being a pretend democracy and a one party dictatorshp. im afraid that another 1929 may be nearing, and one country in the east will set it off.

  • @detroitmetro101 What are you talking about? Besides the fact that there are many branches of the tea party movement China right now can't set it off. They brought American debt so that Americans can continue to buy crap from them. In fact China is artifically lowering their money value to achieve it. If China pulls back the debt, their currency would be valued too much and can collapse. Please explain how 'liberations, want (this) for our country.'

  • @calladuz noooo, they bought american dollars so that they could buy commondities like oil, etc. the dollar reserves they have are used for buying commodities, and building their infrestructure. the situation these so called developing countries are in right now is the same that the usa was in the late 1800s all the way to 1929. depending on whether the developing country is a democracy or a political monopoly, like that of china.

  • @calladuz before the 1929 crash, there were very little to no regulations and/or protections for avarage people. just like in china, russia, brazil, south africa, etc. currption was wide spread, and whole towns and cities were own by a single person or family. the devide between the working class and the upper, was astronomical. and these type of laissez faire policies are what the tea party is advocating.

  • my god, this was before the economic crisis, which wiped out more than half of russia billionairs and millionairs...think what it did to the people in the lowest spectrum

  • Its fake!

  • @1ennya

    What's fake?

  • Its fake!

  • its fake

  • very strange ... i've lived in russia for a long time ... i never noticed anything bad down here .. and i've been in many places all around the world (because of my father's work) Maybe because the reporter visited low-reported - unknown region's in Russia .. could be

  • Russia should have stayed communist-unfortunately they lost the economic war and switched to capitalism which has allowed their country to plummet into a mess.Any1 screaming bias-this documentary is for u

  • Yay! Capitalism! Love that shit. It's the best, right?

  • @CommiesUnite yes it is, compare the soviet union standard of living the US, pre the collapse, its not even close.. your a fucking clown, communism fails, its a brilliant idea.. but its against human nature, people are selfish and wont do their part

  • @doodoobrown1987 lol

What about the standard of living for non-white people for most of America's history? Human nature is about how you are raised...human nature isn't set in stone.

  • @CommiesUnite lol communism has starved more people to death than any other form of government in history, communism fails open your eyes

  • @doodoobrown1987 I guess you forgot the famines happened under capitalist regimes too?

  • @CommiesUnite Yay! Communism! Love that shit. it's the best, right?

  • Shock Therapy type of economy which was implemented in the 90's also causes the Russia to collapse

  • At first I thought it was just coincidence but this is infact Louis Theroux's older brother

  • Ramzan Kadyrov vorever

  • bury Lenin

  • Whites are dying everywhere in the world, not only Russia. Albinism.

  • @lamrof What?!!

  • Nonsense. Don't blame the situation on the 'free market'. There is no 'free market' without iron-clad individual and property rights, and a 2d Amendment to back it all up. No one in Russia is going to spend a lifetime building a better future for their children - and having those children in the first place - if the next strongman or gov't backed mobster who comes along can just pluck it all away.

  • @squarebird the problem with free market,it gave the people with more money more protection by the law than those who have less money...

free market also allowed the corporation/company to just do whatever they will, even shutting down factories that are making money, just to be relocated where it would pay less in their workers...

free market also drove more people in the streets, coz they were being unemployed for better profit of those who already have plenty of wealth...

  • Some ppl in America who look at this would,

at least try to, say that Obama is leading us

down this road of socialism bla bla bla.

The trouble is that most of the republicans

who say this garbage don't believe it

(Obama a fascist?) but they'll say it anyway.

If they don't like someone, b/c he doesn't look like them or whatever , they'll say anything no matter

how *moranic* it sounds. They do as they're told.

  • well made documentary but unfortunately 100% propaganda. Even the first "fact" is incorrect life expectancy in Russia has never been 56. According to worldbank it's in fact 68. I admit it's not very high, but the fact that his first "fact" is 12 years off doesn't hold much hope for the rest of the film. Some things are rightfully criticized but this is obviously made to fuel anti-Russian sentiments. Artistically skilled movie, but a very partial one. Worthless!

  • a mans life expectancy is actually 59 years while women's life expectancy 72 years because of the high rates of alcoholism among males

  • Yep I realized that later. Still I think it's very suggestive the way this documentary is put together. I can also take all kinds of statistics and paint a one sided picture. Like for instance Anarexia is most prevalent in the west, as are deaths from eating disorders. Or to put it even more in perspective 26.2% of American adults age 18 and older suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder. Thats over 1 in 4 people who are mentally unstable. In Russia its less than half that number.

  • Funny how he digged into statistics to find something useful. Not just life expectancy but MALE life expectancy lol. Even falsely reduced the number by 4 years. I smell bias. Maybe we should also make a documentary about USA and call it "Madness of a Nation". Interview one of them thousands of Post Traumatic guys from countless wars America been in. Or one of them victims of the pharmaceutical companies who sell drugs to just about everyone. Including anti-depressants causing suicidal cravings..

  • @PeopleOfAr His facts check out though. Male life expectancy in Russia was at 64 years in 1989, by 1994 that had dropped to 57 years.

  • or what about obesity? we can call it "FAT ASS of a Nation"

  • hola oigan saben donde puedo ver esto en español??

  • No lo siento =( Es una pena, es un buen documental

  • Excellent moving film - Russia has learned the hard way that freedom sometimes only means freedom to be homeless, to go hungry, to be destitute.

  • desolate. "it's like the country is at war." Marcel speaking russian!

  • Oh baby. What a great peice of propaganda!

  • Bravo, excellent video!

  • @Iverielii You sound like it's entertainment to you.

  • @Iverielii Ты сам там окажешся

  • The problem is that the Russian government is so corrupt that it is hard to do business. Forbs rates Russia as the 86th best country to do business right below Kenya.

  • @evansville70 really? I don't know if I want to go back to this country after seeing and sensing the truth.

  • @stacier333 Russia is a dying country

  • @evansville70

    Hmm...

I`m alive and sociable and I`m not think about dying...And I`m Russian.

Watching this, I become thinking about trash "PR" reporter, who worship to communicate with deepest outsiders, those are exist even in most healthy societys. Thats made to form your opinion...Wrong opinion.

Not so bad here. I`m confirm.

You may visit me here in Siberia, Tomsk-sity.

And I`ll see how rapidly you`ll want back in US)))

  • @evansville70

We dont give a fuck what Forbes thinks...we dont give shit about conspiracy theories and cretinisms from you !

I WANT FOREIGHNERS AND FOREIGHNERS IDEAS OUT OF MY RUSSSIAAAAA !!!!

  • @DiscoverRussia does that mean that the U.S. can stop given aid to Russia and Russia will pay back all the aid the U.S. has given to Russia since 1992?

  • @evansville70

There is NOTHING that US is giving to us. Only propaganda and threats...nothing moore.

I shit on you and your fictional aid !

  • @DiscoverRussia usaid.gov $ 2.6 Billion in aid from the United States to Russia since 1992.

  • @evansville70

Yes...I can allso say, that I posses 10 billion US$ that I have got from bets on horse races.

Paper and statistics can witstand all kinds of lies and nebulosis.

  • @evansville70 Thats right! In Soviet Union business does YOU!

  • Excellent documentary. Thanks for posting.
