It's ironic. All those good looking dudes - most of which I'm sure are gay - and she's homophobic. I love the video and the song but, oh well, she lost an audience.

hey Michelle, you fucking dike bitch, how fucking old are you 65?dont you think its a little absurd of you to wear chuck taylors and combat boots?I cant believe you had my videos I made for you removed, you fucking filthy dike whore ,those videos are much better than this crap..BTW you only have two decent songs
@younghoss Yes, and it was a great way of saying "Welcome to the '90s." VH-1 was the "mature, sophisticated" channel while MTV was the pesky, annoying younger sibling who grew on you like a fungus.
@younghoss I remember those days! When my household finally got cable in mid-1990, VH-1 was my favorite channel. Not only did they show indie pop like this but smooth jazz(!) and gospel hours on Sundays. It was definitely the adult contemporary and was a good balance to MTV then. I miss those days! Now, they've gone completely down the shithole.
@BetamaxBabe Yeah I remember back when MTV actually played nothing but music videos instead of lame un-real "reality" shows for the brain dead masses. I also miss those days. I used to watch MTV a lot, but now I never watch it...
What an awesome talent. I never heard of Michelle until today, though I had heard her voice in the commercial. I listened to every song I could find and was very impressed with each one I listened to. Guess I'm her newest fan.
@MichelleBlocked parody n. , pl. , -dies . A literary or artistic work that imitates the characteristic style of an author or a work for comic effect or ridicule.
@MichelleBlocked...no offense, but did you miss the parody here? Perhaps the most obvious example of such in the history of music video. Not only is it humorous, but it is tasteful and in no way a "rip-off" of Palmer. It was parody. It was whimsical and funny. Nothing was violated here. Relax.
@MichelleBlocked Why is there ALWAYS some twat who wants to put more money into the pockets of lawyers? Robert Palmer would have absolutely pissed himself at this (the video and your daft idea of prosecution).
Wow, my mom had one of her albums on tape and I would listen to this song on repeat on my walkman. I remember so clearly driving in our volvo tapping my hand along. I must have been around 8 or 9 at the time. I never knew there was a video!
What are you talking about? I guess you don't know what to do with a woman who has a brain and sense of humor. I guess little starlets who look like they stepped out of your favorite porn magazine are less threatening for you. I must tell you--women are not as boring and stupid as you wish we were.
i didnt really get into her music, but i always liked this video. she looked just like a girl i was dating around the time this was released and also the video is a very cool take on the "addicted to love" video by robert palmer..
I remember this video coming out in the late 80's...like 89...possibly the early 90's. Loved the video because she pokes fun at the Robert Plant concept. Rushed out and bought the cd...can't find it though!!!
Is there anyone...anyone at all that could make a video for Contest Coming (Cripple Creek) by: Michelle shocked?...it would be greatly appreciated...thanks
Hi meggycatty, your comment is fun to read. But I read yet another negative comment on one of my all-time favorite videos that I find perfectly fits the good-humored-nastiness of Shocked's excellent lyrics -- oh, well.I now officially know what I have suspected for a long time : I am completely out-of-sync with the rest of the world. To each his/her own. Be well, all. :)
Hi to lucasboden, I'm a gay man, too, and as a parody to Robert Palmer videos, especially his " Addicted to Love," this video works for me. But, Palmer's videos don't make much sense, either, so, you make a good point. :)
. . . and I can't spell "unfamiliar" quickly. And I've been told by Youtube that I've now exceeded my comment limit. I apologize to all the "Youtube expert commenters" for going overboard. It's my first time to comment on a video and Michelle's video must have heated me all up! I'll go cool off now. Whew!
My previous " EXACTLY! :) comment " is in agreement with Quadkite's comment. ( I just suck at the computer and I'm unfamilar with the correct order/format to post comments. Whatever.)
These are the hottest guys ever to appear in a video. Michelle looks great, too. Michelle's song still rocks decades later. The use of color in the video is perfect. The tongue-in-cheek response to the Robert Palmer videos hits the bullseye! This song and/or video never fails to brighten my day!
@versailles1986...just a slight correction. The song was released in 1989. I am 46 now and that made me about 25 then, so I don't think you remember this one from high school.
It's ironic. All those good looking dudes - most of which I'm sure are gay - and she's homophobic. I love the video and the song but, oh well, she lost an audience.

I remember this from when VH-1 was changing formats to "going intellectual" about 1989.
They had one show after another reviewing music and videos, and showing some "artsy" videos instead of the mainstream videos that made them a success.
