  • It's ironic. All those good looking dudes - most of which I'm sure are gay - and she's homophobic. I love the video and the song but, oh well, she lost an audience.

  • @MichelleBlocked Robert Palmers video is THE most parodied video in history, Look it up.

  • I always thought it was kd lang who did this song.

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!! LOVE MICHELLE SHOCKED!!!

  • See what you mean about Robert Palmer - but all the same this is a sweet, neat little item. Shame about the rest of the opus.

  • I really love this whole album. Michelle did some great work back in the day. What ever happened to her. Hello, Michelle!... if you ever read this.

  • Love that song. Love Michelle Shocked. :-)

  • Forgotten how sexy Michelle is/was/is is is is. Fab.

  • The two videos I remember on VH1 from around this time: This one, and Paul McCartney's My Brave Face. Junior in college. Good times...

  • She looks so uncomfortable in that dress.

  • I remember this from when VH-1 was changing formats to "going intellectual" about 1989.

They had one show after another reviewing music and videos, and showing some "artsy" videos instead of the mainstream videos that made them a success.

  • @younghoss Yes, and it was a great way of saying "Welcome to the '90s." VH-1 was the "mature, sophisticated" channel while MTV was the pesky, annoying younger sibling who grew on you like a fungus.

  • @younghoss I remember those days! When my household finally got cable in mid-1990, VH-1 was my favorite channel. Not only did they show indie pop like this but smooth jazz(!) and gospel hours on Sundays. It was definitely the adult contemporary and was a good balance to MTV then. I miss those days! Now, they've gone completely down the shithole.

  • @BetamaxBabe Yeah I remember back when MTV actually played nothing but music videos instead of lame un-real "reality" shows for the brain dead masses. I also miss those days. I used to watch MTV a lot, but now I never watch it...

  • when i was younger,,,, this was a song i related to sitting around a campfire,,,,and falling in love with a joint,,,what a surprise!!!

  • GREEN.....everything today is about keeping the earth Green....and Michelle was years ahead of her time.... :-)

  • @CindeeBurnham94 hey! stop pirating my work. get a life. get a job. stop stealing mine!

  • What an awesome talent. I never heard of Michelle until today, though I had heard her voice in the commercial. I listened to every song I could find and was very impressed with each one I listened to. Guess I'm her newest fan.

  • Youv'e got such a great sense of humor Shel . As well as an amazing talent!

  • @MichelleBlocked parody n. , pl. , -dies . A literary or artistic work that imitates the characteristic style of an author or a work for comic effect or ridicule.

  • @MichelleBlocked...no offense, but did you miss the parody here? Perhaps the most obvious example of such in the history of music video. Not only is it humorous, but it is tasteful and in no way a "rip-off" of Palmer. It was parody. It was whimsical and funny. Nothing was violated here. Relax.

  • @MichelleBlocked Um, ok? This is a great video and was obviously done with a sense of fun and irony. I think you need to chill out.

  • @MichelleBlocked Why is there ALWAYS some twat who wants to put more money into the pockets of lawyers? Robert Palmer would have absolutely pissed himself at this (the video and your daft idea of prosecution).

  • @MichelleBlocked Are you freaking kidding? There is nothing about this video that looks like Robert Palmers video.

  • @MichelleBlocked The Palmer estate would be about 10 years too late. Where the hell have you been?

  • @MichelleBlocked Lighten up.

  • My favorite Michelle Shocked song! I saw her in concert once....it was a great show!

  • The pointless sexy eye candy dudes are a jab at the Robert Palmer videos which featured the video vixens.

  • I love the video dudes as pointless sexy eye candy, instead of the usual video babes! So smart and funny!

  • you're an absolute G o D d e s s.

  • Oh, man. This is so campy, I feel as though I ought to be making lanyards as I watch.

  • I grew up on her music. I'm 20 now... this music is really old. I love it, though. It's so classic and genius.

  • I'd love to find the tabs to that guitarplaying, it rocks :)

  • I remember when Mtv played this!! I have always loved this song!!!

  • Posting to 3X shorts for encouragement

  • You believe in typo's? I do

  • Great singing Michelle, you ALL look great.

  • heb ik heel lang niet meer gehoord is fantastich

  • Wow, my mom had one of her albums on tape and I would listen to this song on repeat on my walkman. I remember so clearly driving in our volvo tapping my hand along. I must have been around 8 or 9 at the time. I never knew there was a video!

  • brillant!!! love this woman, fun songs to have fun too.

Michelle if it were possable i would have your babys all 120 of them.

  • LOL

I haven't seen this for years

    Love it!!!

    Michelle Rocks XXXX

  • LOL ! Amazingly hilarious!

I think I remember a version where Michelle actually slaps those green butts !! Or maybe I'm confusing it with another video ?! :)

Captain Swing was such a great record. And it contains Michelle's masterpiece, "Looks Like Mona Lisa", an unbelievable song.

  • I saw her in the Portland zoo A LONG time ago, I must have been 6, ah the good old day

  • Light and Funny! - some great moves in there (and I don't mean the guys)

  • this is sooo great.. great song and very funny vieo

  • This video made me gay.

    LOL

Great video... awesome song. Michelle's talent is limitless.

  • @JaxTonyPiper Go listen to something else then,troll....

  • Michelle's Capt'n Swing Album was/is awesome. But treating men like pieces of salad ... How Californian!

  • I miss these days....when Mtv gave these new artists ( at the time ) a chance

  • I remember when this played on MTV....I miss this era...also I have to say in a way she sounds so similar to KD Lange...which is a cool thing

  • this song has another similar thing...later on when shania twain would do come on over, the song, come on over feels like this song....tropical

  • What are you talking about? I guess you don't know what to do with a woman who has a brain and sense of humor. I guess little starlets who look like they stepped out of your favorite porn magazine are less threatening for you. I must tell you--women are not as boring and stupid as you wish we were.

  • Chelle you are a GODDESS...

  • This one takes me back to college! Thanks for all the great tunes Michelle!

  • I still have my little black dress, like her green one there, and it's sooo comfortable!

  • i didnt really get into her music, but i always liked this video. she looked just like a girl i was dating around the time this was released and also the video is a very cool take on the "addicted to love" video by robert palmer..

  • she is simply great. PERIOD

  • great. and yes she is hot . never believed i say that.

  • She is so Fricken hot!!

  • I love, love, love this song!

  • Fantastic! *****

  • she dissapeared...is she founded?

  • Michelle Shocked you are fabulous!

I wish someone would post a version of "Run to Gladewater" That is my favorite Michelle Shocked song.

  • got yer gimme hat on !!!

    Yep, "Run to Gladwater"

That was the song I was looking for when I found this.

  • THAT is one of the greats !

  • I just found Michelle Strange and really like her style. Can anyone tell me how long she has had her music out.

  • I remember this video coming out in the late 80's...like 89...possibly the early 90's. Loved the video because she pokes fun at the Robert Plant concept. Rushed out and bought the cd...can't find it though!!!

    But it was excellent!!!

  • Sorry...I meant Robert Palmer...oops!!!

  • Is there anyone...anyone at all that could make a video for Contest Coming (Cripple Creek) by: Michelle shocked?...it would be greatly appreciated...thanks

  • Hi meggycatty, your comment is fun to read. But I read yet another negative comment on one of my all-time favorite videos that I find perfectly fits the good-humored-nastiness of Shocked's excellent lyrics -- oh, well.I now officially know what I have suspected for a long time : I am completely out-of-sync with the rest of the world. To each his/her own. Be well, all. :)

  • Terrible, awful video for a wonderful song, sigh

  • You just don't get her humor, do you? She's making fun of the sexism displayed in the Robert Palmer videos..it's just her take on it...

    Cool video!!!

  • i reckon robert palmer's video was ironic, too.

  • Hi to lucasboden, I'm a gay man, too, and as a parody to Robert Palmer videos, especially his " Addicted to Love," this video works for me. But, Palmer's videos don't make much sense, either, so, you make a good point. :)

  • Sorry, I am a gay man and I still think this video doesn't fit the song.

  • . . . and I can't spell "unfamiliar" quickly. And I've been told by Youtube that I've now exceeded my comment limit. I apologize to all the "Youtube expert commenters" for going overboard. It's my first time to comment on a video and Michelle's video must have heated me all up! I'll go cool off now. Whew!

  • My previous " EXACTLY! :) comment " is in agreement with Quadkite's comment. ( I just suck at the computer and I'm unfamilar with the correct order/format to post comments. Whatever.)

  • These are the hottest guys ever to appear in a video. Michelle looks great, too. Michelle's song still rocks decades later. The use of color in the video is perfect. The tongue-in-cheek response to the Robert Palmer videos hits the bullseye! This song and/or video never fails to brighten my day!

  • Doesn't this sound kinda like ska? Vaguely?

  • Anyone know the Michelle Shocked & Harvey Sorgen connection. What songs did she work with Harvey on?

  • I always loved this song. Was on my honeymoon when I bought my first Michelle Shocked tape. She blows me away still.

  • one of those music video makes u think....what the hell on wheels... lol i like it!

  • OMG. I've waiting for this to be posted on Youtube since I first discovered it! BRAVO! Love this video!!!!!!!

  • I remember this video WAY BACK in high school, (I'm 45 now....) and these guys are just as sexy and HOT today as they were 'back in the day!

  • what?! i remember this from my high school days and i'm 32

  • @versailles1986...just a slight correction. The song was released in 1989. I am 46 now and that made me about 25 then, so I don't think you remember this one from high school.

  • Haha! Take the Robert Palmer! Clever video!

  • EXACTLY! :)

  • I remember buying Short Sharp Shocked as a schoolkid in around 1989...and she's never let me down!

  • Nice gams Chelle.
