Ignore the terrible camera sounds. I have one of these right now for an at-home tryout (Gibson Standard). I love it! The 30.5" scale, body size & weight are very comfortable for a 6 string player transitioning over to bass. The tone is as good as any of the American Fenders and G&L that I've tried out but more versatile (though different). It has a strong, deep voice with tight lows and crisp highs. Short scale means tuning down is basically no-go so keep that in mind.
Quick question. I play electric guitar (6 string) and I want to learn another instrument would it be boring to play bass after I already know electric guitar
It's actually a lot of fun even though it's simpler than playing a 6 string electric guitar. My music background is in piano and I just started playing bass guitar. I can never seem to put the bass down, because I enjoy playing it so much.
Hey man, I appreciate your channel. It helps out a lot with figuring out the price as well as seeing how it sounds and the scale of it. Even though you can't get a for sure idea, you can get a good one. Keep rockin man.
Do not judge any bass from a camera microphone. These vids are for the country's that have now place to see most basses. Go play one for your shelf. Amps- strings-settings on the bass. All come in to play. Gibson make a good bass and has for years. There are better basses and worst ones. Play what You like, find the sound You want! Opinions are like a-hole, everybody got on. Rock on, bassist!
oh i definitely know. like cars, test driving is best. and gibson makes a good bass, but if i'm buying high end, i'm going music man or fender. especially that 25th anniversary HH. wow. i hope you get a chance to showcase that one.
@xmfplt Trust me, just like the pope wears a funny hat, there are no "new" Epiphones that are superior to a Gibson. That's literally like saying that a Honda is more of a luxury car than an Acura.
Fender bass have 20 fret and so does this but it look small because the bass is shrot scale bass. Weather you like it or not is personal preference but gibson bass is not my cup of tea.
is it me or does all the eb-3 and sg basses seem like the strings have very low tension on them? every time ive played one the strings always seem real loose.
might be the fact that this type of basses are short scale. (in stage they look more like another guitar) no so sure thats the reason. Pretty cool bass though!

i dunno, I think I like the SG better as a guitar. I find the SG bass headstocks too heavy, and I don't dig their tone.

Does any body know, or where I might find out what the settings were on jack bruce's EB3 back in the late 60s early 70s
And to me the Epiphone EB3 sounds way better then the gib........But you really cant tell a whole lot from these You tube videos.................

I actually prefer the Epiphone EB-3 model to this Gibson SG bass
it has two master and two tone controls, along with a 4-way pickup selector!

Why does it have only 20 frets?
Is it like a junior Gibson SG Bass?
CiviC092 2 years ago
theres actually a lot of basses out there with 20 frets.
i'm pretty sure every gibson bass and most fenders have 20 frets.
