  • I've been waiting my whole life to hear this song

  • all day erryday

  • so she's rising from the grave from ten days to play in new york, according to youtube

  • One of the greatest songs ever recorded. EVER

  • Lana Del Rey stop pretending to be like Nico when you sing live.

  • I don't think I have ever had the chills throughout an entire song before.

  • Nobody has or will ever have a voice quite like hers. It's not too pretty but it's not a bad sound in all. It's interesting with that peculiar Germanic texture to it. Unique. Her lyrics are simple yet elequent as well. This world doesn't produce Nico's anymore. I rather like her.

  • To me, this song perfectly captures the beauty and sadness of losing ones innocence. In Nico's voice I hear fear, hope, nostalgia ... wonderful cover.

  • Jackson Browne, who wrote the song at age 16, plays the electric guitar on this version.

  • Jackson Browne is a brilliant songwriter. I adore this version.

  • i've heard Paul Westerberg's version (my favorite) now I've heard Nico's. i still haven't heard the original.

  • Heard a young guy in his twenties do this song t an open mic recently. Interesting eh?

  • this song makes me so sad

  • @tisbutafleshwound I hope someone you love deeply gets cancer and dies in unbearable pain, and that you go broke.

  • @lonnie817 I honestly don't think I wrote that. I love this song. One of my friends went on my account and did that. Sorry.

  • @tisbutafleshwound get new friends

  • @lonnie817 Hope you don't mean that

  • @lonnie817 That's something terrible to hope about. You are what you imagine you are.

  • @Dichloroacatate Whats that supposed to mean/

  • After this song, I have always have to listen to its companion song, not fairest of the seasons but Jackson Browne's song for Adam! :)

They are both my idols from the 70's.

  • LOVE HER, AND SHE IS SO TRAGIC!

  • My best friend just died, and this was our favorite song, the lyrics mean so much more to me now.

  • @01slipstar So sorry for your loss.

  • lol foreigners:D

  • By way of the green line bus

  • Strange Voice, But i Love It : ]

  • LOVE THIS SONG!

  • I've gotta say, Wes Anderson has a great friggen taste in music.

  • This song is classic. This is what real beauty is...

  • how can 100 people dislike this?

  • this song provokes a torrent of golden sadness deep inside...and I like it.

  • I love the the Royal Tenenbaums. There are so many scenes that just rip my heart out.

  • thumbs up if The Royal Tenebbaums brought you here!

  • Is she deaf? because I know a deaf person and she sounds like him.

  • @MintyPasta actually yes, she was deaf in one ear. A lot of people didn't know that.

  • creepy..yes

  • This song is fucking creepy!

  • godmother of deliberate suck.. i swear to god. , sounds like a special Olympics karaoke competition .

  • @PHAEDRIDER that's such an awful thing to say

  • @xxchalkie it is, , but i cant find a better way to put it.

  • @PHAEDRIDER i like how you talk about the Special Olympics while you don't seem to have a clue about how to properly punctuate your ignorant comment. cheers!

  • he had made a request that his usual escort, the one from his days on the circuit, to meet him at the pier by way of the green line bus. as always, she was late.

    Love :)

  • What movie is the second top comment referring to?

  • @foamingcrows royal tennenbaums

  • Best version and it took a German to do it.

  • @uncletupelo96 You rock for quoting that movie! Glad to see a fellow Tenenbaum lover as well! And for everyone else, this Nico song is the best song ever about learning and despair as well. Love it and live it before it's too late!

  • who else gets tears in their eyes when margot steps off the bus?

  • @jenzeppelin every f'ing time.

  • @jenzeppelin every. fucking. time.

  • @jenzeppelin Me :'(

  • @jenzeppelin Not me

  • @jenzeppelin BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME

  • @jenzeppelin best movie ever

  • she is so beautiful! such a unique pure sound.

  • MY NAME IS NICO THIS FAGGOT IS COPIER

  • @ItsDyerNotDryer what !?! make some sense in your words...

  • @ItsDyerNotDryer bahahh theres a millions nicos in the world dumbfuck

  • This is a joke, right?

  • Adore her low voice and her deep mood. Nico's best song

  • Glen Campbell does a good version of These Days, too. Yes, Glen Campbell.

  • @LolasTubular Do you have "Listening to screeching nails on a chalkboard" downloaded on your iPod. Just goes to show you have absolutley no idea or taste in music. You probably also love to swallow crushed glass. Do you have a pulse??? I wonder...

  • this is a massacre of a beautiful song written and performed by Jackson Brown, and Gregg Allman.

  • @vferratusco Oh please. I'd rather listen to Nico than Jackson Browne any day of the week. In fact, I'd rather listen to screeching nails on a chalkboard, than that punk Jackson.

  • @LolasTubular Well, if you like this version than I feel compelled to let you in on a secret. The guitar on this track is played by Jackson Browne. Yes, she asked him to play electric guitar on the recording. I guess she enjoyed a punk like Jackson as much as the next person.

  • @vferratusco

I'm an avid Jackson Browne fan, and I actually like Nico's cover of the song more than the original. If you really think this is a "massacre," you have a very sad view of music. Both versions are great.

  • @vferratusco Hey, why don't you go watch that song instead, you fucking cunt.

  • Look UP COCOROSIE. IF THE TRAGIC BEAUTY OF THIS REMEMBERED ICON. COCOROSIE IS TWO SISTERS WITH A TRAGICALLY BEAUTIFUL MESSAGE TO LEAVE.

  • @FoxyRoxies Love that band! Hey, you might also like Soap&Skin; i just found them today. Hope you enjoy!

  • this song fills me with so many different feelings... nico's voice wasn't the best but her voice is so fragile and uncertain in this song, i don't think i'll ever tire of this song

  • @roxslide i know! the utter weirdness of her voice is so perfect for this song especially

  • Hey, The Tallest Man On Earth did a cover of this~

  • This a beautiful and depressing song.

  • I almost hate to say many words about this song because it is such a perfect poem in itself. But I will say, it hits me in the heart every time I hear it. Amazing lyrics and music by Jackson Browne and so perfectly suited to Nico that the song seems the natural embodiment of her voice. The motif of the clock chiming, counting time "in quarter tones to ten" etc...just an amazing piece of music/poetry.

  • I'm america we do the fuky fuky

  • Nice is great.

  • great music...very nice guitar playing

  • I think that IS actually a very young Jackson Browne playing that guitar part, correct? His tune anyway. He tells a pretty funny story about this recording session and I think he is saying he was the guitar player. Sounds like him.

  • @quad1000 Yes. He tells the story on his Solo Acoustic album; he is playing the finger-picking guitar accompaniment.

At the risk of alienating all the world, I think Nico verges on sounding like a parody of herself, like Marlene Dietrich singing Boogie-Woogie Bugle Boy.

  • this IS THE BEST SONG EVER

  • whats the name of the movie?

  • @archie977 The Royal Tenenbaums

  • It says playing at the Roxy on August 18th 2011 i duno how she can do that since she died 30 fuckin years ago

  • Check out the Lee SMith from The Regulars Band perform this. It's nice :)

  • i think we have all been at this point in our life. if we havent than now is the time.

  • God she was beautiful!

  • fabulous

  • the first ten seconds of this song makes me smile / gives me butterflies every time!!

  • @ErnieCosmo you serious?

  • @ErnieCosmo

I have seven elephants and three thousand horses

    i have thirteen thousand dollars

    and 300 gold coins

i spent three years in Sydney Australia

in the morning i am driving a car across the boarder to Somalia

  • I heard the Allman cover first, then Jackson, then Nico...

I like em in that order too.

  • Beautiful version of a beautiful song. But if you like this you'll love "The Tallest Man On Earth"'s cover. Please give it a listen.

  • the voice of Germany

  • tayol swift of the sixties?

  • @jessemo2992 Hahaha "tayol". But no. Completely different.

  • I couldn't even get through this. Jackson Browne's version is so much better.

  • oh

  • whats the problem with nicos great song she kicked it cycling life is a wee bit of joke.

  • jackson brown wrote this at the age of 16.

  • stop taking a beautiful, profound song and turning it into a damned disgusting debate. Is anyone even hearing the lyrics?

  • You all make yourselves look like idiots by cursing and fighting online with one another. I wonder would you all be so bold is this were real life? Stop being disgusting haters and respect other people's tastes and opinions. Stop spreading ignorance and hatred all over the internet and the Earth and grow up. Seriously. Hating is so boring and old and draining. I'm ready for some peace.

  • @bbyitsbrandi HAHA! cursing,

  • @bbyitsbrandi

I like that statement very true: We should be fighting wrong systems not each other

  • @similimilon couldn't agree more

  • Was she deaf?

  • @livelife409 if you dont like it then thats fine, but show some respect for it. and dont listen to these nazis who say you have no taste in music. they're just as bad as the usual youtube trolls and haters.

  • @livelife409 you gotta understand that its not always about the singing. its about the feeling you get with the music and how the person sings with it. artists like this one may not have the best voice but its almost as if you can hear their hearts through their voice. Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Isaac Brock(Modest Mouse), Anthony Kiedis(Red Hot Chili Peppers), and other famous artists have "not so perfect" singing voices but you can never imagine anyone singing the kind of music they make.

  • @landfill2 that my friend was so well said.

  • @yanin021182 OH WTF>..shut the fuck up....and yes im telling you this a yr later.>SHUT THE FUCK UP...I wrote something that wasnt even that bad..you have people on here cursing because she is so bad..ha now i am..SHE IS an IDOL..who the fuck has heard of NICO I dont get it...at all...get the fuck outta here.

  • @livelife409 thanks! I just found a new person to pick on you dumb fuck!

  • @yanin021182 NO >..YOU FOUND NO ONE>..god..this is hurting my ears.

  • When I was little and listened to the velvet underground i literally though Nico was like a scary old man.

  • i miss you.

  • @OssyTuber

    I miss you too

  • @setosail loser lol

  • Nice song in general... however, Nico cannot sing worth a crap!

  • @TheOriginalKA3AK That's why I like this version :)

  • @TheOriginalKA3AK Get serious sir.

  • great guitar playing...

  • Is this some kind of a joke?

  • @livelife409 dumb bitch..

  • @yanin021182 OH shut the fuck up..your dumb for reading it..>GET OVER IT.....GEEEETT OVER IT>.bahahhahahaha your NICO SUCKS DICK! hahahah

  • @livelife409 you dumb fucking arrogant cunt! you have made yourself look like the biggest fucking idiot LOL. Take your ass back to your retarded American Idol bullshit and stop making yourself look worse since you have no sense of fucking taste you retarded ass bitch!!!

  • I prefer the version of Tallest man on earth, but this is just a classic!

  • what movie is this brilliant song used in?

  • @jhnx4z The Royal Tenenbaums. One of the most beautiful movies ever made and that's partly due to the outstanding and touching soundtrack.

  • @closertorickman That feeling when I here this song now. It's got a whole new meaning.

  • and Margo walked toward Ritchie..

  • @uncletupelo96 Everytime I hear this song, I think of this scene. Thank you for the nostalgic post.

  • theres 88 people who cant appreciate good music

  • @SheSoughtRefuge Not everyone is going to like the same type of music. dumbass.

  • Jackson Browne himself played some guitar here on Nico's version.

  • as always, she was late

  • @mrsgeorgeharrison by way of the green line bus

  • @jakepinkphloid Alec Baldwin was an awesome narrator.

  • Love Nico -"the European ice Goddess", got this CD and a few others. She even played in new zealand, hmm

  • Good god. This version is just offensive. Leave it to the man that wrote it.

  • @xian3001

fuck off, man. this is nico's song. go comment on jackson browne's if you love him so much.

  • @evilthesaurus no, it's literally NOT Nico's song. Also I forgot to tell you, suck my dick.

  • @xian3001

jackson browne obviously wanted nico to do this song: they were lovers and he even plays the guitar on this version. (that's him playing in the beginning.) she did the first recording of it, and while he did write it and it is his song, it's also partially hers. and no need to be rude. If you love the jackson browne version so much, go comment on his video. but this is nico's video, and she's special to a lot of people (including me) so please don't say hurtful things on this vid.

Perfect song to sing to your mother when she asks you why all you ever do these days is sit around and get stoned out of your fucking mind, neglecting your education and any chance at whatever. .>.> leave me alone mom

  • jb hippie bullshit

  • @gabbahey66 Fuck off, loser. Learn good music before you say some retarded shit about genius songwriters.. Jackson Browne wrote this song at 16 --- Whatever age you are, I am certain you never did a damn thing worth anything at 16 y/o. People like you are so stupid.. Like anyyyyyone gives a shit what you think on this planet. Hahahaha The funniest thing is that every person like you could literally fade into thin air & no one would even notice. Kisses. Hahaha

  • @icoelmono same with you bro.

  • @Badgerism Hahahahaha Hardly. You have no idea who I am. Wow, you two are made for each other. So clueless about who anyone is when it comes to importance. Get in touch with what is really happening & who is rushing the world with purpose & maybe you will not look so stupid in public like this. This makes me laugh.

  • I never listened to woman singers till I heard the velvet underground

  • The original was done by Jackson Browne learn your music history!!

  • The original was done by Jackson Browne learn your music history!!

  • Nico represents the beauty of music. She is the only person that ever made the velvet underground better than it was. How it must have been so great to just sit down and have a conversation with her...

  • It wasnt "written" for Nico. JB was 16 when he wrote it...yet to travel to New York. He had the song alongside some more which she recorded. They were lovers briefly, then after "fucking his brains loose" as he once put it, she then accused him of Stalking her. Fact or Fiction. You decide

  • Comment removed

  • she reminds me of Sharon Shy from the ropes in some ways :)

  • beautiful album with a sense of feeling velvet underground in it

  • to start confronting with my failures, i have not forgotten them

  • For those that dislike it or don't understand it, too bad. For those that do, we are the richer.

  • This is a beautiful piece of music, and you're all being jerks.

  • the singers voice does not fit the original intent and mood of the song. sorry. her voice is nothing special. FAIL.

  • @gothicprincess52 You should keep your filthy mouth shut =D

  • @nofx5918 music is art and art is subjective.
