Wonderful movie; perfect execution of mise-en-scene. I love how the school is portrayed: almost possesses an ominous type of feeling, especially with the dark halls and long, parallel walls. Reminds me of The Shining almost.

if you liked this movie. You should check out another film of the same name, "Elephant" directed by Alan Clarke in 1989. It's very similar to this, with the long tracking shots following the main characters through a single day. It takes place during the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

Personally I think the subtlety of their conversation was done intentionally, it zoned in more on the character of michelle and her emotional response to the teasing, giving the effect of bluryness to everything else, the meaningless of the words themselves, but their effect on the person.
