Thanks for the demo. My wife doesn't like to read car manuals and likes to have a warm tush...that equals a burnt out driver's seat. What gauge wire did you use?
I had the same problem with my 2002 Acura TL-S. I followed your instructions explicitly. Perfect perfect perfect! I am not a mechanic and rarely tackle things in my car. I also found the problem exactly as you described. When I had removed everything down to the wires, I noticed the metal bar thing that is held in place by those clips MIGHT be the cause? Could it be shorting out the wire elements? As a precaution I covered that bar in electrical tape. The rest was as described-thank you!
might be worth adding that undoing the bright yellow clip under will most likely set off the srs light on the dash. or it should, it did in my accord.
Thanks a ton for this video! My Mom's Acura TL had this exact problem. With blind faith, I followed your video and found the wire burnt EXACTLY like you showed in your video. I fixed it like you did and it works! Now I get a call from my Mom every time her drivers seat is warm!
Wanna come fix my CL for me? The driver seat heat is out too. lol. Damn... Must be a Acura, CL, TL thing. So much wires and stuff. Seems like lots of work.
Dude, you are great. I ran across this video by accident looking for other items for my 2000 Acura TL. This is a treasure. I would never have known the cause of this problem nor the remedy. Thanks!! Great Job!!!!
Yo. I'm having a problem all of a sudden in my 2003 Yukon Denali. I turn my drivers side heated seat button on and it clicks under the seat then it kicks off. But the front passenger and back seats are fine. Although, when I throw my drivers heated seat on when the passengers is on, it will kick it out as well. I've been told its probably not the button, but the wiring relay or the module control itself under the seat. I want to take it in but lookin to see if I can do it myself. Any idea's?
Thanks! - The dealer wanted $800 to do it & I did it in 3 hours with this vid & a few tools. I have an 08 so mounting & connectors were a little different. There was no scorch mark where the wire was broken but with a volt meter a little poking around I found the break, fixed it & my butt is warm again!
I've done this repair twice on my wife's Type-S and now it's broken again! The first time the wire fractured again in the same place and the second time it burned out on the other side. This time I think I may just buy a whole new heating element (I think you can get them on Ebay for like $100 or through the dealership for more I am sure). Just having not to go through this process again is worth the $100.
Thanks for taking the time to make the video though; you did a nice job.
my exact same car did this... i was going to do this when i saw that there was a vid for it... but then i realized that i would rather deal with no heated seat than having to worry about forgetting to put something back or anything... and im pretty good at this kind of stuff
will this work on an mdx?
