@javieralza The song is Remind Me by Röyksopp, and if you want to clean the inside of the lens, you have to open it up, but your not alone on that problem. I'm stuck with 2 big pieces of dust in mine and I'm afraid I'll break mine if I attempt to open it. It's best to go to a camcorder shop to get that cleaned.
i have found that there are specks of debris on the inside of my viewfinder. i don't think it's on the lens as video quality is unaffected but when i look thru the viewfinder there are these annoying particles obstructing my view. any hints on how to clean?
If you are in the field and need to clean the heads, you can also use a new blank tape. You can also use the unrecorded area of a used tape in a pinch. Once you get back to base though you'll need to use a proper head cleaner.
Hooray and thanx to xenepp for the suggestion. I had no picture anymore and I wasn't able to buy a head cleaner for a Hi 8 camcorder anywhere anymore, so I bought a blank tape and ran it through the camera for 2 hours and it cleaned the head. After that, the picture returned to normal when I played a recorded tape. Kudos!!
My camcorder just keeps saying "Tab is locked, check the tab" I checked the record and save tab, but there isn't one. I've had this problem for a little while now with the same cleaning cassette.
Just insert the tape like any other tape and press play for 10-30 seconds. Be careful what brand you use because some brands are not made well and will damage your camera. You should clean your camera every 2-3 months of moderate use.
No, it's a specialized cassette that cleans your video camera's video heads using a slightly abrasive material. It is necessary when using a miniDV camera, and can be bought online or at a super-walmart.
If you want to keep your camera nice I recommend getting a cheap filter to protect the lens, (U.V. or whatever you want, Check at Best Buy). But you don't have to get a filter.
Yep, but the fisheye lens should come with attachment rings. If not, get a --mm to a --mm adapter, depending on the camcorder attachment size and fisheye size.
Well, all cameras should be maintained, it's just a good idea. If you got a Gl2, (by the way, congratulations!) it is smart to start off by getting a screw on U.V. filter (58 mm), that can be found at a Best Buy, then you will never have to clean the camera lens. Also, you want to be sure to clean your video components with a cleaning cassette (shown in video) every two to three months. Other than that, refer to the manual, and if you have any more questions just message me, since I have a Gl2.
haha wat a surisingly positive comment back. I was really pissed off that day haha. Yeah, thanks im really happy with it, i boght it used for 1400 with deth lens and uv fileter, big battery, backpack and more. The camera is still under warranty so its off getting the handle fixed. I have a big favour to ask. I was wondering if you could show me a qucik video showing how to do all the White Ballance, Effects, ND filter ect. your videos are really good.
I'm not sure if I will be able to make one of those videos, my other camera is not that great, and I've been busy. But I attached a video series url that will explain all of your questions on a similar camera (XH-A1). It has helped me out a lot. Give me some feedback on if they helped.
Clean the lens with a soft cloth you must be joking you need to remove all the dust from the lens using a air blower then a soft brush before you go over it with a cloth if you have dust on the lens and you go over it with a cloth without removing the dust it could scratch your lense
It says in the instruction manual for this camera, and in the manual for my Canon Gl2 to use a soft cloth, So figured I would go by that in this video. But you are right, I will mention that in the description.
That lens hood you were wondering about , I got off ebay, you just need to know the lens screw in attachment size, for mine it is 27mm, your camera will be different. The camera I used to film this video, came with one in the box.

i got that camera and a fisheye that fits on and i wondered.. does that lens hood need an adaptor ring and how musch is the hood and what size
SkateAndChill 3 years ago
Well, you can't use the lens hood and fisheye at the same time unfortunately. If you still want a lens hood, look for screw on attachment size 27 mm.
nitecobra 3 years ago
does that camera need a filter or anything like a adapter ring?
