This game would be much better had they removed 2 things: "Perfect" and "Dark". It's not a terrible game, it's alright, and it does have some pretty good moments. (IE That last dialogue between Jo and Li) But it has almost NOTHING to do with Perfect Dark, they tried to throw in too much without explaining, making the game more of a reference than anything. Play it for the quick joy trip that it is, then send it back to the bargain bin.

It was a sad thing to see Rare go, along with the franchise and all that bureaucracy ... but if I'm not mistaken, Retro Studios cropped up in conjunction with that split because the core of the original Rare team stayed loyal to Nintendo and the good relationship of their business. After all, it can be seen that Retro Studios is a masterful group of developers. I also think Iguana might have something to do with comprising Retro Studios ... and they did phenomenal things with Turok on the N64.
@danijmay PDZ was being made for gamecube. If it had been released, Perfect Dark would have been Nintendo's M franchise. But Nintendo didn't expect MS to buy Rare out. Since then, their games haven't been the same.
To be honest, the game was alot better on the N64. The prequel had too much cartoon like graphics, i was expecting something like Unreal 3 or Call of Duty.
Rare was a lot better working with Nintendo in the past, right now their games have gone stale.
I wish today's FPS games were like this- a great single player and story... Today's FPS games have abandoned this, in favour of online multiplayer. Cod and Halo are still fun, but I just wish some of today's shooters still had the single player goodness.

I've spent many hours, (actually over 40 twenty four hour days in the combat simulator) of this game on N64. I was really looking forward to the new version of this game, I've never played it, many people are disappointed and so am I. The 64 game was prolly my favorite game of all time, the new game looks like every other garbage game.
This game was such a disappointment for me... I loved Perfect Dark. I felt Perfect Dark Zero had a lot of potential that it just didn't live up to.
The graphics were improved, and some of the new weapons were cool, but that's just not enough for me. The story was terrible, it didn't feel like a real Perfect Dark prequel, and a lot of the levels were seriously underdeveloped (any idea how many times I found AI facing walls, or AI that failed to notice me despite being right in front of them?)
lol, that's how an epic shooter like the original PD becomes a new Prince of Persia or some shit with swords and magic powers... Rare is no been missed in Nintendo consoles.

For instance there were multiple difficulty settings and you could choose your loadout for each mission which enabled players to retry missions with a different weapon. How was the multiplayer "abysmal", and how was the story "horrible"?

Technically they didn't remove the accent, since this game is set before the events of the first game (heh). And while the game was developed by Rare, it was clearly not made by the same team that made the original, seeing as the original is one of the best games in the world, and PDZ is one of the worst -.-
Of course, the original was all about alien conspiracy, but at least that's still compatible with a world governed by the laws of science... Now with all this grall business, all Rare has to do if they get stumped is say "a wizard did it!"

I've spent many hours, (actually over 40 twenty four hour days in the combat simulator) of this game on N64. I was really looking forward to the new version of this game, I've never played it, many people are disappointed and so am I. The 64 game was prolly my favorite game of all time, the new game looks like every other garbage game.

This game was such a disappointment for me... I loved Perfect Dark. I felt Perfect Dark Zero had a lot of potential that it just didn't live up to.
The graphics were improved, and some of the new weapons were cool, but that's just not enough for me. The story was terrible, it didn't feel like a real Perfect Dark prequel, and a lot of the levels were seriously underdeveloped (any idea how many times I found AI facing walls, or AI that failed to notice me despite being right in front of them?)

damn rare really has changed,there games are not nearly as great as the N64 games they made,They Raped Banjo Kazooie They Raped Joanna dark and They Raped Conker in there cheap remake of Bad Fur Day with the multiplayer really fuckin gayer,why did they change the multiplayer for,it was so flawless in the N64 version with the throwing knifes and Katana's and shit! would of been awesome if they hadnt changed it and has online.

This is meant to be a prequel, but unfortunately Rare made the game look less realistic than it should AND to kill it off more, Joanna Dark has an American accent. Carrington and Jo had a British accent. FOOLS!

@davidgr2 "I'm a idiot?" says it all really. The only real point of criticism there was that the campaign was short. However the campaign is more replayable than most. For instance there were multiple difficulty settings and you could choose your loadout for each mission which enabled players to retry missions with a different weapon. How was the multiplayer "abysmal", and how was the story "horrible"?
BTW, I never said that PDZ was better.

Technically they didn't remove the accent, since this game is set before the events of the first game (heh). And while the game was developed by Rare, it was clearly not made by the same team that made the original, seeing as the original is one of the best games in the world, and PDZ is one of the worst -.-

perfect dark was ok if i t was just a game by itself and not "perfect dark"
the storyline was alright. i admit they shouldve fixed soem things.
and for the character
WTF why did they remove her aaccent??! if they wanted the story to make sense they should have at LEAST kept the accent.
and the outfit..if you look at the CI's outfits compared pd to pdz its odd.
as for her hair..it was ok..its just too...off...

Of course, the original was all about alien conspiracy, but at least that's still compatible with a world governed by the laws of science... Now with all this grall business, all Rare has to do if they get stumped is say "a wizard did it!"
Bad move, but not the worst. The worst move was getting rid of Joanna's accent! DUDES! seriously! That's like making Bond not British anymore! Let's hope they retcon this out of canon...

That sounds really sad...thank goodness for the remake, which looks beyond awesome. I'm glad for all you 360 guys out there; Perfect Dark finally gets the justification it deserves. And maybe we'll get a PROPER sequel next time ^_^

The game it so deaprted from the the orginal, i hope a new Perfect Dark is reliaed wihich carries on from the first.
