  • I think Common should add an extra verse to this song right now

it's been almost 20 years; alot has changed in hip-hop

this song will be relevant again if he adds another verse

  • decent

  • This song is wow, i never really took common too seriously untill now ...man iv'e been missing out on this for a while ... i'm a dumbass lol

  • @TheJonas4eva Yes you are.

  • common goes hard in all his rhymes, cant even compare his music to the one now in days!

  • only love

im a metalhead but i miss the times when hip hop was good and when they called women "queens" like common and not today that call girls bitchez instead of queens...YEAH YEAH IM TALKINGOF LIL GAYNE!

  • This is definitive analogy and my favorite to date of Common's work.

To hip hop, I say, I hope you get well soon and I'll prob. still take you back cuz I love you and we have a history together and were soulmates. But I'm tired of waiting for you to clean up and stop turning tricks for a couple bucks. It's sad to see such a beautiful sista who used to help so many, now seem so in need of help h.e.r. self.

  • "Cause who I'm talkin' bout is hip-hop"

    - That was flawless.

  • best hip hop songs of all time!!

  • Drake = no comparison

  • ...it still feels like hes talking about a real girl </3

  • I kind of don't get it, well i do but i am thinking of two things. Some want to clear it up for me. Thanks.

  • @TheCup963 don't get what? the meaning of the song? it's about hiphop, bra. the girl he's referring to is hip hop.

  • so deep. <3

  • I love twists at the end of verses or lyrics. Classic non-sequitor writing here.

  • The only hope we got left for Afrocentric and conscious rap is Lupe Fiasco.

  • @A094H2 and some J. Cole

  • @lilbriana2 and Jay Electtronica...

  • @A094H2 true

  • sometimes you can think about h.e.r as just her

  • why does common sound like biggie smalls in this song

  • @2lethalinjections wtf is wrong with ur brain ... fuckin dumbass fav rapper probably roscoe dash wit yo dumbass

  • Beat + Lyrics=Classic

  • @xXxShyEMORozexXx So true, so full of beauty and eloquence, such grace

  • Gay song

  • @2lethalinjections your a gay song.

  • @xxlilrmanyxx hahaha thats exactly something i would say!

  • Yes yes it dont stop. hip hop and soul. One of my favorites.

  • it's COMMON sense that this is real rap

  • Common sold out, too. But I do very much appreciate his old stuff, still.

  • @alexave How'd this guy sell out?

  • No real hip hop now! this is one of my favorites song

  • this is one of the best songs in hisory

  • i use to love h.e.r > any other hip hop song ever created

  • Daaaaamn! that was sum soul shhit

  • omg.

  • 2 people clearly still love her...

  • 2 dislikes?? how?? yaw prolly lovd rock n it got lame dnt hate on hip hop

  • @ThrowedMesiken717 To be fair rap has kind of gone down the toilet lately too. Genres always become shit when they turn pop.

  • Too true.

Shit, he thinks the 90s was bad? LOOK AT HIP HOP NOW.

  • listened 2 the lyrics nd realised he was talkin bout rap

  • This brings back memories for some reason, damn good song.

  • common with tht chilled flow love it same style as yungun and fliptrix keeping it old sch

  • the real ish

bout how music is there for you

    now its for her self

  • real shit

  • Tough!!!

  • Google WENN, Birmingham, AL

  • thatt moment of silence at 3:45 gives me chills

  • H.E.R = "Hearing every rhyme"

    Pure Genius!

  • isnt this on the murs Fornever album?

  • Like eminems " 25 to life " it sounds like hes talking about his ex wife but it was really about hip hop.. eminem always says hip hop is dead but i like new rap.. style changes and old rap sometimes gets boring, i dont find old hip hop boring but alot of people do

  • I still love her, but the kind of people she let in her soul, I'm sadly disappointed. But I know that someday, she will shine brightly, that she will be the center of my world again. But until that day comes, I will wait for her. I'll will always wait for H.E.R.

  • @GunBunnyShift There's still some good rappers. You got Immortal Technique, Lupe Fiasco, Tech N9ne, Vinnie Paz, and Eminem. Mobb deep and Nas sold out. Jay z always sucked :p

  • @Beirutsandniqq4 So Mobb Deep and Nas sold out, but Eminem didn't? :P

  • @fredzxr dude mobb deep is hard soldout.

  • Damn , im kinda speechless.

All I can do is keep playing this back

  • dam dat shid deep

  • this has to be one of the most clever songs ever made

  • Dam when i saw the last line i was speechless this is real shit i never really listen to common, but now...

  • i'm still in love with her.just kinda dissapointed tho..

  • @xXxShyEMORozexXx ..and bleeds the soul. honestly this brings a great deal of sadness in my heart. id like to believe that hiphop is not dead just wounded. :(

  • @mkextra05 hip hops not dead... its just hiding

  • @mytotallyawesomename thats kinda fuken deep

  • @mytotallyawesomename

So when is it gonna' reappear?

  • Damn. This shit is deep. Its like Eminem's "25 to life". Or actually vice versa.

  • wow the first time i listened to this ithe last line was just a striking blow maan hat shit was nice how he personified hiphop in a way.

i used to love her too

  • @xXxShyEMORozexXx you dont get that much anymore, you just get i fuck this, fuck that n word this, and you get the idea

  • first time i heard this song wow this is good

  • i grew up listening to my dad play this kind of hiphop, it's sad to see no more REAL artist.

  • This is authenticallyawesome!! Good job Common!!

  • MY JAM

    -SOULFUL !

-REMEMBER THIS IN BROWN SUGAR , GOOD MOVIE ! :D

  • i agree with your description, love this beat

  • Too bad he's contradicted himself by releasing his new universal mind track. Never thought someone who made a track like this would be a sell out. Go join a crew with the black eyed peas! Or even better acknowledge that track has no soul and come back to the real heads!!!

  • @blasebabey dude he probably did try to prevent hip hop from getting ruined..and he prolly became a sellout cuz he gave up

  • iLoVe Dis Sonq

  • Excellent Song
