and the analogy is about darts...it's not really about a game of darts. his feelings are just compared to a game of darts because his 'dart' landed in between green and gray. and it's really about how he missed her and it's kind of...well...between green and gray. undecided.

My insights on it are that this guy that has gotten everything he's wanted in life except one thing...and then he starts singing about a girl. the chorus is everyone thinks i am so successful, but it doesn't matter to me because grey is the color i see around her. so people move on but he stays where he is because he can't leave. and then he's sleep talking and says everything he feels about her. then the friend singing the song about him says if it was you and you know her please don't tell.
