  • What good is a radio if the broadcast towers, and stations that broadcast using them are fried?

  • @Chris4400 The military has hardened equipment that would be able to broadcast. Also, an EMP strike would not affect every area of the world and with a shortwave radio you could get news from overseas.

  • @LLGoldstein Suppose you're right. Either way, we'd be screwed. :-/

  • Hi mate, great video.

    Just 1 question:

I heard cars are safe when it's lightening outside due to it being a farraday cage, however EMP will stop a car. Why wouldn't a steel car protect against EMP?

  • Jumper cables and local handy grounded pipe or stake will draw off charge more safely .

  • I bet if there's a pole reversal of the magnetic field of the earth there would be one hell of emp.

  • Great Video....Something simpler and cheaper to use,is a Mylar bag..A 5 gallon Mylar bag can hold a bunch.Heat sealed, and not zipper sealed, works best(Done tested them). And you can put them in any container to hide.....Thanks for the great Videos and Info....

  • Thanks for the info.

  • I've been trying to figure out how to build one of these and thought they needed to be grounded. So you are saying I can go to Lowes, purchase that, put stuff in it and then through it in the back of my closet or where ever and then whatever is in there will be protected?? I could not tell from the video, but do you have anything lining the inside of the bucket or can you just place everything right in? Items can touch the sides? Thanks!

  • @daruco94 That's right...make sure you watch Part2 as well, especially towards the end as I cover your questions. Take care and thanks for the comment.

  • @BlackCatSaloon Ok I watched the 2nd video. Didn't look like you had anything lining the inside. I wonder if it would hurt anything to ground it. What do you think? Thx for all your hard work on this.

  • @daruco94 I would not ground it….as Faraday conclusively proved and the Professor confirmed: No Earth ground is required. I know this seems counterintuitive but it’s the best approach, in fact, by grounding, you may cause yourself more problems.

  • @daruco94 And yes, items on the inside of the vessel can touch the sides and no need for insulation. Again, I know this seems counterintuitive but it’s the best approach.

  • @BlackCatSaloon Ok, well thanks for getting back to me so quickly on everything.

  • it will not work since its NOT grounded

  • @laurooote Not true. Did you watch both parts? A Faraday cage does not need to be grounded.

  • thank u

  • @jacmunbong No problem man...glad you enjoyed.

  • @airsoftfanatick32 absolutely not. No cars from that era use electronic ignition, and almost all of them are carburated, so they'll start right up, no matter what.

  • where can i buy one i soooo far behind in my preps (just gettig back to work after being layed of for a year) have to rebuild stockpile no time or patience to build anything

  • @cheska576 Try your local home supply store or hardware store...like a Lowes.

  • One thing to note is that the Earth's native magnetic field is distorted by the solar wind on a continual basis. During a solar storm, it can actually ring like a bell, with the isomagnetic contours being deformed by hundreds to thousands of kilometers over the course of seconds to minutes, and this deformation can oscillate for several hours after the actual "impact" of the CME with the magnetosphere. So, while the CME may radiate in the radio frequency end, the "ringing" wavelength is longer.

  • So, basically, what you are saying is that a car is a faraday cage since it is surounded by an all metal cage.

Just to make this car more of a faraday cage, I would always have a ground strap from a fender or any other metal body part conected to a buried metal pipe when the car is parked.

I don't know, it's just a thought. Let me know what you think.

    I like your knowledge

  • @torkjoy1 Well, sort of...a car will be protected from a lightning strike, but not from an EMP which will pass through the glass. A ground may act as a collector during a natural solar caused EMP.

  • :) koooool video thank you

  • @Lucyferr6969 You are very welcome!

  • Do you know how to make a microwave gun?

  • @urflofit2010 I have two.

  • @BlackCatSaloon Can you teach me how to make one?

  • Maybe we should make some tin foil hats-

  • “Knowledge is Power” & the birth of government oppression a.k.a. control. Big brother does not want free thinkers, or independence, they are vested in our dependency videos like yours are a breath of hope for free thinkers. Being political is a must; being engaged is required butt it’s not enough. As they say it’s better to have & not need than need & not have ……. keep posting &, I’ll keep watching, peace

  • @ArmedCivilian556 Thanks...I have been very busy as of late but have posted a couple of new videos.

  • Thanks for this information. I own a 1989 Chevy pick up. It has both an electronically controlled fuel and ignition system. Do you think that I should buy replacement components like the distributer and the ignition module (which is a very simple computer chip)?

Btw, I think this is going to happen. I don't know why, but I do.

Hey, I'm not going to live or die by your advice, I'm just curious about your opinion or comment..... :-)

  • @brasso4u If you can find them cheap...place them in your Faraday vessel. Probably all cars with electronic ignition or computers will be impacted by an EMP.

  • Thank you for a very informational video collection.

No one ever died from being overly prepared.

It's always those who did nothing at all that bites the dust first.

  • @shigatsuningen Thanks for the comment!

  • I believe in both of these senarios. Our power grid is falling apart with out the assistance from an EMP or SOLAR STORM. I live in a hurricane prone area and have always prepared for a power failure. You did a much better job than I of getting this pointe accross. I did ground my faraday cages because old phone buildings are done this way but who knows. Great video!!!

  • @OBXSOLWIND Thank you so much for your encouragement! I'm happy you found some useful information from the video.

  • Thanks man you just saved me weeks of work.

  • @kerrickbloodaxe You're welcome...glad you enjoyed the video.

  • Check out techprotectbag*com. They have faraday bags for protection against EMPs. I got some for pretty cheap. They meet military specification which means you can be confident they will work. Let me know what you think. Is it a good purchase?

  • Where did you get that oil lamb? Manufacturer? BTW, buy guns.

  • @MrFreemason1 I purchased that kerosene lamp over 15 years ago…it says Lamplight Farms USA on the bottom. I’m not sure if the newer ones are made in the USA though, so you may want to check prior to buying. And yes, I own firearms. :-)

  • Would the Faraday Concept work for a vehicle . In other words, could I wrap a car, lawnmower, golf cart etc. with heavy duty foil to protect from EMP. Any guidance on EMP proofing a vehicle would be helpful. Additionally, are there alternative ways on the cheap to EMP proof vehicles. Thx

  • @IndaEyezofDaBeholda You may have no advanced warning for an EMP, so if you want vehicle capabilities it may be best to go with an older pre-80s vehicle that uses points rather than electronic ignition.

  • @BlackCatSaloon actually, most vehicles made before 1987 may have points ignition. Go carburated, definitely, unless you can find mechanical fuel injection. If you can't find a car like that, try diesel vehicles. They have no spark plugs, so theoretically, they should start right up.

  • What about an old metal microwave oven?

  • Thank you for your informative video. I am new to all this & understand I can try to protect a spare laptop, cell or gps phone, but wonder if things like batteries need to be put in a faraday cage? Also, I have some solar flashlights with led bulbs, would these need to be in a faraday cage as well? I've heard conflicting reports on if the garbage pale would need to be grounded or not. Does it need to be lined with rubber on the inside or would sitting it on a rubber mat ground it?

  • @msjla61 No need to ground whatsoever, and no need to insulate. Watch Part2...your questions are pretty well covered. As far as the flashlight, probably wouldn't hurt to place it in the vessel. Hope this helps.

  • question, can I stuff the can with lots of things or can they " not touch" I have lots of things I need protecting, but do not want 10 cans LOL also do I need to put the items on something to keep them off the bottom? thanks

  • @hakunamakarla Stuff away! :-) You can place your items right inside the vessel with no additional insulation.

  • I have something I'm trying to figure out and most people have the same situation.

How do you protective a "live" office. In my case, my home computer that is online nearly 24/7. It only takes one sec. to lose everything... correct? I see solar flares not so much as maybe, but more as when.

  • Thank you for your research time

  • @EARTHforTomorrow You're welcome.

  • A local university has a huge all copper (wood frame) faraday for sale in my area. The faraday "room" is 10' x 10' x 8'(height) This faraday room is amazing (top quality) but too big for me ti buy or use. Even wire mesh is high grade copper and not aluminum. They are selling it for the scrap value of the copper alone. I wish I had a place to put it

  • @taineasy Wow! I guess you could park your car inside. :-)

  • @BlackCatSaloon The door is the size of a standard room door but the cage/room is big enough for a small car and much more. The room originally cost over $15,000 to build and it can be bought for $2300. As I said earlier the copper alone is worth the $2300 as scrap. They are trying to sell it as a working unit but if its not sold soon it will be sold to the local recycler, which is too bad.You will never see another Faraday as nice as this.

  • Maybe a stupid question, but do I need to shield flashlights? Or are they not affected by an EMP / CME?

  • @Survive2Day Hi Survive2Day, no question is a dumb question…and actually your question is a good one. My guess would be that as long as the flashlight does not have a circuit board it would be fine, however, if you have an older flashlight with a filament bulb then it could be at risk. Streetlights were blown out during the Starfish Prime tests in the early 60s, so perhaps it would be a good idea to keep some spare flashlights in your Faraday vessel!

  • would a microwave work? and doesn't it have to be grounded?

  • @Krock45bullet A microwave may make a decent natural Faraday cage, but you should test to be sure. Nope, no grounding is necessary.

  • Prepardness Pro

  • i went to this website and many others to find out about EMP and Faraday cages and grounding your belongings. i even read the comments left by others on this and i want to know if the house is grounded do you still need to make faraday cages and ground those too. Also how would i ground my 2003 PT Cruiser and protect it from emp. and what about our bodies. what threat does it pose.

  • @Jrockershadow An EMP will not hurt your body, so no worries. Try to watch both parts of the video which should answer your other questions.

  • @BlackCatSaloon

i'll try but i have no sound...so i just posted.

  • @BlackCatSaloon

also the emp wont cause like the magnetic field to go down. I heard if that go down we get extra stuff on our bodies (not the emp in particular) and it will take the magnetic field a while to build back up.

  • Another good vid!

Unfortunately folks don't understand that a nuclear EMP doesn't just disable electronics, with everthing going back to normal in a few minutes/hours. Damged circuits stay damaged.

Electronic circuits get burned out, and affected components must be replaced. In the case of a large EMP or CME, power generation, transformers, and everything attached to them will need replacing. Repairing the entire US powergrid would take years.

  • @shootingnerd Greetings Jeff, thank you for taking the time to provide another insightful and thoughtful comment. I agree with you that the consequences of a major EMP would be alarming and far-reaching. The sun is active and has a history of producing these events quite frequently in the relative geologic time scale. Pretty scary stuff! That’s what moved me off the couch to make these videos.

  • Thank you for your thoughtful comment…insightful and good points~! Unfortunately, this modern world we live in creates some pretty scary scenarios to ponder.

  • With the Compton Effect, it won't take a very large device to knock out the entire USA. Something the size of what we dropped on Hiroshima is all it would take if exploded at 200-300 miles above Oklahoma. It is widely believed that N. Korea currently has missiles capable of that range, if launched from a container ship in the Gulf of Mexico. Oh, and they share tech with Iran... food for thought. Personally I use metal ammo cans. They also have a rubber seal for weather proofing. Great video!

  • @qhack You could be right, and yes, it is troubling that a rogue state could obtain a nuclear device and launching from a near coast platform.
