So when people don't follow the law thats called crime. You must realize that because murder is illegal isn't going to stop people from doing it. There should also be no permit of any sort, to even have a gun, as being a permit means that we are permitted by the government to have a gun, which then means that that permission can be taken away. Together, this means we don't have the right to have a gun, even though the right is constitutionally given and can not be taken away by the government.

Ok, yes if there are less guns then there is less gun crime. You have to be an idiot not to realize that. However, it has been shown, that if there are less guns, then the crime rate as a whole rises. People also don't seem to know that the police are not here to protect us from crime, but only to persecute those who break laws and bring them to justice after they have committed a crime.

Common Sense: taking guns from the population automatically makes them the victims of criminals (police do NOT have a duty to arrive and or defend any citizen) and the government. The 2nd Amendment assures that government cannot take authority from the people and that the people can defend selves from criminals.

In England, guns are outlawed almost completely. The beat cops don't carry guns.

Go figure, less than 50 people are killed by guns there each year and almost all were criminals killed by other criminals.

Every year in America, 1200+ are people killed by accidental/unintentional discharges alone.

I remember hearing of a girl who hid in a closet to scare her grandfather one night as a joke and the old man killed her with a .357 thinking she was a robber.

I don't know about that, I lived in Rio de Janeiro for 2 years, guns are almost completely outlawed for regular citizens, but they have something like 4x the murder rate than in the United States, Additionally, the areas in the US that have the highest crime rate, like Los Angeles, New York City, and Chicago, also have the most strict gunlaws, while areas such as Utah, Idaho, and Texas have few gun laws seem to have a much lower crime rate.

Yes way. Brazil has close to 50,000 homicides per year that's about four times our annual rate. The CIA World Factbook has the numbers I believe. Mexico is also pretty bad, yet both those countries have very strict gun laws and their homicide rate is far worse than ours.

Yep, sure doesn't look like there's any real strong correlation between freedom and number of guns but there does appear to be one between number of guns and accidental death, suicide and murder in the general population. Maybe people should just be born packing, armed with one for each arm, four-armed. Something for the cloners to consider for future population control.

@RVqueen I get your argument, but still the US has more weapon related murders than its neighbor to the north for example who have made handguns illegal for public purchase/use. It just makes it easier for someone to decide to kill if they're allowed a conceilable weapon.
