Guinea Pigs do NOT bite, unless totally scared out of their minds with peril. They are NOT anything like hamsters. Not ALL animals bite. Guinea pigs are the most docile creatures on the planet.

@offy66 My guinea pig I have now used to live with four guinea pigs (four lived in another cage and three in another) and must have had a hard time because she had babies at three months and had to fight for food because her mother would jump in the bowls to eat and wouldn't share. Now she is the only guinea pig left and it seems she is really happy now with all the care she gets.

i just got my guinea pig,i havent seen her eat yet or drink,and im very worried,she hides and stands still unless im not moving or pretending to sleep,then she only eats a few bites of timothy hay,how can i get her so she wont be scared anymore?i rescued her from a pet shop,and,after awhile,ill prolly get her a buddy from a rescue or rescue another GP but she's very scared now and i dont know what to do,IDEA'S ANYONE?

You could try getting her a friend that is more confident, as they do learn from each other and they can cuddle up together. Otherwise the more handling the better to get her less scared - just sit her on your lap on a towel. Always give her some food when you handle her and she should associate being handled with nice food.

Even if she is not eating food in front of you she should be eating it when she is alone. If she is not eating properly, perhaps she is not well. Have you checked her teeth, as they should be ground down by eating and if they get too long they can cause problems.

If you get her a friend, she'll forget to be nervous. they are social creatures, and are much more fearful alone. I had pigs for years and I remember this well. Get 2 2gether, no problems
