LDS do believe the Bible to be the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly--and for what should be obvious reasons. But here's the thing, although the LDS reverence and respect the Bible as inspired scripture, they also happen to believe that the "final" word of God is God Himself when he speaks to us through His servants, the prophets.
rippinsteo- As a Christian I know that God STILL speaks to us today. He does this through his Word and the Holy Spirit. The Bible is God's living Word.
Hebrews 1:1-2 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
We know from John 1:1-2 that the Word was with God in the begining.
I believe that the principles and doctrines taught in the Book of Mormon are correct. I believe that God speaks to us through His word in the scriptures and through His word, Jesus Christ, to His authorized servants, the prophets. I believe Jesus Christ is the Holy Messiah, the Son of God the Father, the Savior and Redeemer of all humanity and of every living creature upon the earth.
Think about Thomas S. Monson as you read Hebrews 1:1-2. There is no prophet like unto Moses here on earth... Jesus is our only prophet... Please dont put Thomas Monson in front of Jesus
Apart from what anti-Mormon critics say, or anyone whose been to one or two anti-Mormon websites and now think they know everything regarding the Mormon church, there is substantial evidence in support of the BOM Throughout the Bible!! Why in the world would we used the Bible if it didn't coincide with our beliefs?
so, where are all the steel armors, helmets, swords and bodies after the millions that where slaughtered in the war they had in the BOM?... Hill cumorah?
And why do they (the LDS) even bother carrying it around? They don't believe its "translated correctly", or the final Word of God.(8th Article of Faith)
I think they do it to try to be labeled "christians." This is probably just another way to bring people into the LDS church who were christians previously and decieve them.
Watch LDS PROPHET (3 part series here on youtube) - You may question the LDS prophet... Is it taught that we have a prophet today? (after Jesus came)

There's NO Bible translation that supports Mormon doctrine. LDS don't even consider the Joseph Smith Translation Bible to be "translated correctly"!
