  • Thanks for the video...Great info on the Freeze Plug, I have 2 Previas ....this is a big help

  • Great video! Thanks for all the good angles & explanation of what's what.

  • Thank you, nice video.

  • i changed the hd gskt on my 96sc. which had blown, (lowered engine, did not remove) but the underlying problem is till there which is air in the coolant causing overheat. cant bleed it out. changed water pump heater core thermostat radiator. tried putting on steep slope to purge air out. air bubbles can be heard at inlet/outlet of heater core. never checked the freeze plug could it be a pin hole sucking air into the system? believe the 2tzfe might be different to 2tzfze motor. thx.

  • great video, I just recently had to change the bushings(aka flex joints) of the front drive shaft of my 93 previa, due to vibration when I step on the acceleration, after the replacement the vibration is reduced, but still hasn't totally gone yet, I can live with that, but I wonder how long can I keep driving this van and when will it leave me stranded somewhere...

  • Thanks a lot for taking the time making & posting this video man! Hope you upload more and show more how to's . :-)

Im planning to get a Previa and need to know as much as can before I get one.

  • @ventosus28 No problem, if you have any questions I would be glad to help in any way I can..

  • I bought a 1986 6 months ago for $700.00 it is awesome!!!drive it daily as a work van want to buy another to turn in to camper van so trying to learn about them so thank you

  • @SuperAlexskinner If you have any questions let me know, I'll do my best to help out.

  • Ha! This is a strange vehicle. My dad gave me a '91 because the oil pump was going out of my '91 Dakota. I couldn't figure out why it had so much leg room. I thought the engine would be transverse front drive. I opened the hood, and no engine. So some internet looking revealed the under seat installation of the four turned on it's side. I don't understand why the Dodge V-6 got better milage though. Maybe some tune-up goodies will help.

  • If anyone has any questions let me know. I am not a mechanic, but I do have the repair manual and would be glad to help anyone in anyway I can... if I can. I am able to give torque specs or tell you where most parts go. Let me say again though I am not a mechanic, but I will do my best.

  • @mightysickamore cool so do you have the head torque specs?? i cant find it

  • @saulanibal1 The Cylinder Head Torque Specs for the 91-95 Toyota previa are as follows.

First Step: Tighten each head bolt to 29 FT-Pounds. I would work your way up to 29. Maybe tighten all to 10 ft pnds, then 20 ftpnds, then the remaining 9 ft pounds which would equal 29ft pounds. A mechanic told me that those head bolts are stretch bolts and should be replaced. I reused the old ones before I found out. Luckily I didn't have a problem. you tighten them from the center out.

  • @mightysickamore thank you very much man i apreciate it!!

  • @saulanibal1 The second step after you tighten each bolt to 29 ft pounds is to then turn each bolt 90 degrees more. The third step is the same after you turn each head bolt 90 degrees you then turn each head bolt another 90 degrees. So first step 29ft pounds, second step turn each bolt 90 degrees, third step turn each bolt another 90 degrees. It sounds weird but that is what the manual says. I will try and e-mail you a picture of the tightening order. God bless you.

  • @mightysickamore thanks i apreciate it!!

  • @saulanibal1 I put a quick video up for the head tightening order. It should be in my video section.

  • How's the access to the spark plug & oil change maintenance? Is it easy?

  • @xxxH22VTECxxx You will need to remove the passenger seat, peel back the carpet, then remove the floor plate that covers the spark plug access. My floor plate had a couple of pop rivets in it, so a hammer and long flat-head screw driver may come in handy. Once that is removed you will see a black spark plug wire cover, remove that then you should have no problem pulling your plugs. Make sure you have a deep-well socket or spark plug socket and a long extension arm for your socket wrench.

  • @xxxH22VTECxxx The spark plugs are deep so take your time when removing the wires and plugs. The oil pan is directly under the car but to access the oil filter you will need to get the front of your car up on jack stands or ramps. Once the car is up, you should be fine. Make sure you have the correct oil wrench before trying to take the filter off. Hope that helps.

  • I wish there were 500 videos like this! The undercarriage of my Previa is one of the great mysteries of life. Thank you!

  • @lizziejfox Thanks, if you have any questions about your Previa let me know...WARNING... I am not a mechanic, I by force had to learn about this vehicle and if I had a choice would not repeat it, but I did learn many things and have the Previa manual and would be glad to help in any way I can....if I am able...I would recommend consulting a real mechanic.

  • I GOT A 1993 167000 MILES TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY IT STALLS SOMETIMES LAST TIME IT DID NOT WANT TO START BLEW WHITE AND BLACK SMOKE THAN IT FINALLY STARTED AND RUNS FINE ITS INTERMITTENT.DID ALL TUNE UP EVEN REPLACED THE COIL IT STILL DOES IT.COULD IT BE A FAULTY FUEL PUMP REGULATOR.

  • @12larios In the manual this is what is listed as possible reasons for a stall. 1. Idle speed incorrect 2. Fuel filter clogged and/or water impurities in the fuel system. 3. Damaged or wet ignition system wires or components. 4. Emissions system components faulty. 5. Faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plugs. 6. Vacuum leak at the intake manifold or vacuum hoses. 7. Valve clearances incorrect. 8. Throttle body bore dirty. Hope that helps, I feel your pain. I get very frustrated working on cars
  • @12larios

My initial thought was Spark plug gaps and/or Throttle body bore. My bore was filthy and the throttle valve seemed to stick occasionally because the bore was so dirty so that may help, but again I am not a mechanic..... I will pray for you. Get as much advice as you possibly can, hopefully from friends who are mechanics. If you have any more questions fire away and I'll do my best to try and answer them. I also have the manual for any specs or required torques.
