BTW, classical purists, please don't forget that Pavarotti also sang with Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, and numerous other contemporary artists. Crossover opera singers are not a bad thing. Think about Mario Lanza whose idol was Enrico Caruso and then the tribute to Mario by Jose Carreras. My goodness, America might have actually gained some culturally meaningful insight to real music.

@philipc67 : I agree that this interpretation is more pop, but I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Some people like it sung more in opera style like Pavarotti but some people don't. This is a beautiful song that deserves a wider audience, and I think Mario's interpretation accomplishes that. Sorry, just my opinion.

what's there to complain? ms fabian's version will never be surpassed, pavarotti's version - pitch too high and he doesn't sing it tenderly enough, bocelli luv the man, but doesn't nail, this guy is as good as it gets, cut the drums though ... thank you mario, looking forward to hearing an improved version, one for the archives

Εγώ νομίζω πως ο Φραγκούλης εδώ δε βγάζει κανένα συναίσθημα με τη φωνή του, ρε γαμώτο... Δε μ' αρέσει που το λέω, αλλά έτσι νομίζω... Πάντως, αναμφίβολα έχει εξαιρετική φωνή!!! Απλά μου φαίνεται άχρωμη η συγκεκριμένη εκτέλεση. Δεν το ζει.... Έτσι νομίζω τουλάχιστον.

I bet there were greater (and older) tenors than pavarotti when HE was young(about 30-40)... That doens't mean he was bad. And he became a great singer....

Ohh stop bieng so pathetic all of you who compare the younger with the older.. It is obviously not possible to do a comparison between pavarotti and frangoulis.And firstly because of the age. frangoulis is about 30-40 or something and has still a long way to go.That doesn't mean he's not a good singer, on the contrary he's a magnificent singer. If we always and in every cases compare younger singers with the older ones(who are definetly better) then there will be no chance for the younger ones
