  • My choir is doing this song from our Spring concert!! So excited!

  • Everyone is so negative! I mean if you guys had READ or searched what the play is about you`d understand the shouting. They are poor barley making it, fighting for food and a place to stay, would you guys be singing all happy? No you wouldn`t. All the characters are angry and shouting their opinion, i believe the students did an amazing job portraying the emotion; I mean they put their time and effort into this and I think they did an excellent job!

  • @TakeMeBackInTime1 I agree. For a student production it is good. They seemed to "get it".

  • sooooo shouty......i understand ur supposed to be angry because ur poor workers etc. but u make it hurtful to the ears..... sorry :( couldve been ALOT better exspecially since i could barely here sopranos and altos and it sounds scrtachy....and im in it and used to hearing our voices

  • I don't like this. Why would you wear glasses to play based on the 1800's. There were no glasses back then, and I say this because one of the factory girls is wearing glasses, I believe it is the one who says "and the boss he never knows that the forman is always in heat.

  • jesus christ

  • Nice makeup..

  • ENUNCIATION.

  • worst factory girl i have ever seen.... and ive seen 8 different productions of Les Mis and been in it twice!

  • LOUD NOISES!!!

  • Omg sooo shouty!

  • God whoever played the sister of Fantine was just TERRIBLE.

  • My god I was in this with a group of 9-19 year olds and we did SOOO much better then this! This made ours look fuggin broadway...

  • im surprised they had any voices left after this...not a nice way to strain the vocal chords

  • This is a school production??? cause this is unproffesional...

  • it just doesnt sound right with american accents, i know it might be hard to change a singing accent, but nothing compares to English singers because of the accent, tbh tho nothing sounds like to original london cast

  • so. Much. Shouting. Acting/singing is NOT shouting...

  • I think we all need to realize on here that this isn't a professional performance, so we can't expect it to be equal to Broadway or West End quality. I think we need to stop being purists and just appreciate the fact that they're putting this show on.

And I think they did great! :)

  • i want that 4 mins of my life back.

  • That was miserable.

  • @KKatastrophii hahahaha hence the name of the show

  • Her costume rips at 2:27 then pops off at 2:30. Look at her try to fix it hahaha :D

  • They're yelling not singing. My old drama teacher had such a major problem with this. I can hear some people singing, but mostly they're yelling.

  • why is everyone comparing them to broadway??? hey! wake up commentors, these are not broadway casts...hello, they are performing the best they can!

  • i felt like you were yelling at us.... the songs not supposed to be like that.

  • pitchy. thats all i can say

  • (continued...)

As far as costumes go, the ones for the factory workers in this scene are not that hard to make at all. Simplicity has a lof of good costume patterns for this era.

I think that I speak for everyone when I say that this production wasn't as good as it could be. It has potential, but that will get you nowhere unless you try to apply it. Hope this helps with future productions.

  • Boy at 0:59 is late.

Ways this production could've been improved: Attention to costume for that era, more time working on actually singing, and getting rid of the cluster formations.

Yes, the poor people in this scene are supposed to be loud, but they are not shouting. It's an intense song, and you need to have an intense feeling when you sing this song. This is just shouting, and I don't feel the intensity.

As far as costumes go, the ones for the factory workers in this scene are

  • nooo. sing dont yell.

  • I couldn't find this virson of "I Dreamed a Dream" Does anyone know where it is?

  • 'AND IN A BED!!!!' this is soo shouty!!! i feel quite sorry for them, they must have had no voices after like a day!!!

  • Fair play for trying, there's not many schools do this as a school production...but yeah there is a lot of constructive criticisms to give - But for kids it's alright I guess

  • a little shouty... might just have been the mics... i like how there were a lot of little kids

  • you dont know much about microphones do you?

  • i do though... thats why i dont understand why they werent miked or why the mics were so bad because they were very shouty

  • i think it is combination of a bad camera microphone (i concede that) making it sound really toppy. the fact that the pa system is probably lacking bass as it is in a school, and children needing more singing training. camera microphones (built in ones) alson have an annoying ability to pick up and amplify all bad acoustics in a room. but overall for i youth show, it is very brave of them.

  • T_T i died inside, they need MORE practice!!!

  • omg....thats not good at all......

  • umm i really don't know what that was if they insisted on yelling couldn't they at least do it with an accent!!!

  • is this a joke?

  • Is the band quite right at the start? it sounds a bit off to me. And i'd say more male voices? it's a bit unbalanced.

  • EW THIS SUX

  • i didnt realize les mis was a scream fest.

  • this is really bad,,, im sorry but they need to work on the cockney accents badly

  • Erm, this story is set in France.....

  • Wel your top sops sound good,

    Bit shouty altos though

  • its pretty loud.

    like screaming loud.

    but really good. :)

  • TBH I have seen and been in waaay better versions than that, 1) Fantine is supposed to be the really clean nd well kept one so why is she the only one thats grubby? 2)Factory Girl 5 probs had the most talent at any time, not the best vocals but the best acting, 3)screaming can be good to add emotion but not in ensemble numbers and 4)was it supposed to be a recitle coz it look like one i thought it was supposed to be theatre....Fantine was good tho.

  • every shouts! wheres the singing? :D

  • whats with all of the shouting

  • omg my school is so much better then a broadway cast wow thats pathetic

  • the fantine actress is really really good.

  • Sorry but this is horrible. The only good singer and actor was Fantine

  • that was actually terrible eww too mcuh shouting! learn to sing and then characterise rather than just shouting

    eww

  • arent they supposed to sing this bit? not scream it

  • girl #5 is fail.

yes thats right, i know who girl #5 is.

    and she is fail.

the chick that fights fantine... she screams... *shudder*

  • Haha... I love you!

  • why thankyou ^_^

  • good costumes but waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy to much screaming its sounds messy and the factory girl who fites with fantine should probably never ever sing again in her life that was an atrocious performance!!!!!!!!

  • im sorry this is bad!!!!!!!!

  • I wish you guys had british accents.

  • My only critism:

-A little too much screaming. Tone it down. It makes it seem as though you are trying too hard to get the point across. Now, granted, it's not a song sung all pretty, but you can tone it down a little.

-When Fantine and the Worker Girl are fighting, you guys need to REACT! It was a pretty lame fight because you were all staring into space. Cheer the worker on, etc.

Other than that, it was really good. Probably the best I've seen on YouTube

  • oh... guys theres a difference between singing and shouting. It sounds all over the place! But well done for trying

  • i want to see this. is it worth seeing?

  • i saw it a few weeks ago...it was good but it was all singing so for me i was a little hard to follow...but it was still good.

  • good costumes...

you guys sound like youre yelling, not very pretty

  • They seem 'out of sync' with each other to me. It's hard to do Les Miserables good in this classic 'play' format. It sound much better when song in a concert version with a 300 person chorus and a 100 piece band.

    This was pretty good thought.

  • it sounds very misharmonic... but I would know.. it would probley sound at least fine.. even though it is rushed

  • Hey this is great! I'm glad you guys changed the curse-word...it did sound kind of like yelling

  • Yeah, the audio is a little off, sounds alot like yelling, like I get the melody, but is sounds like old ladies and children yelling, not a mature high school musical.

  • Comment removed

  • It really did sound a lot better live. Well, backstage, even. The reason is that the audio is heavily clipped; so much so that people who didn't even sound off sound terrible with the distortion. *Sighhh..* at least next year we'll have good technology.
