  • Aw, I love the songs.

  • I was crying through out this entire thing.

  • I WANNA SMACK THAT GREEDY BOY IN THE FACE!!!

  • A man of the cloth at a local church read this story

to his congregation one Sunday. I love this story...

  • Thank you so Much!

  • First time i read this i was 4, it was a gift from my mum's best friend who is very close to me. I was quite disappointed that it was a book, and sulked in my bedroom (i was a spoiled brat!) but then that close woman came up to my bedroom and read it to me. I didn't really understand it. Finally my mother explained it to me and i cried. It made me feel so sad. I still have that book in my shelf, the front cover almost completely ruined, but i still read all the time. It is my favourite book!

  • @Jewels17981 Thanks so much for your description. I've got a 4 year old daughter, and she hears, yet does not seem to quite "get" this story. It's good to know that time and perhaps another translator will fix that. :-)

  • I absolutely love this story. I'm going to get a tattoo in dedication to my love of this story and I also lost my copy of the giving tree and I am quite upset

  • I LOVE THAT \BOOK I HATE THE END IT ALMOST MADE ME CRY~!

  • the best book i've ever read, when i was little

  • the tree could have lived for like 200 years but the boy took to much from the tree so her health went down

  • So so so so so so so sad :'''(

  • I felt so sad......

  • Looks like there is a girl in the tree at 4.11

  • wow, that actually made me cry

  • Most people don't understand this story...it's a beautiful metaphor of unselfish and unconditional love

  • I heard the song and was like 'HOLY CRAP, IS THIS ANBERLIN? *Like*'

  • ...and then the tree turned into a beautiful women~ the end~ wouldn't that be a twisted ending!?

  • Call me overly emotional, but I cried in class when my teacher played this. & I just cried again. :'(

  • The boy... what a dick

  • I cried when I read this. :'(

  • To me, this is a metaphor of God's Love for us. Totally giving, hoping for nothing in return except..love. He was loving enough to give his angels free will, only to be betrayed by one he loved most. For love of flesh many left him & then impregnated women of the earth with their selfish seed, & again...His heart broke. To stop all the madness he was intent on destroying everyone BUT...again...He loved, & saved us thru Noah. Finally He suffered with His Son Yeshua to stop Satan from claiming us.

  • 3 ppl have eyes problem and clickd dislike insted of like =/

  • im gonna be honest i shed a tear for this story. its a very sad and beautyfull story

    sorry for my bad english

  • the 3 that disliked this have done this to other trees

  • This is my fave - I've used it twice now on my kids' website (for Sunday School).

Also, you've inspired me - I'm going to use it in an article for my Examiner.com column. Can't wait to get it done. Thanks for sharing this. I'll come back and post the link after it's finished.

  • @beccastew22 In addition to this read (if you haven't already) The Happy Prince & The Selfish Giant (Oscar Wilde) All 3 of these never fail to break my heart open with love. The love of God is as monumental & indescribable as the beautiful innocence of little children; which of course is Love of God personified. And tho the seed of Satan resides in us all, you can still see what is perfect about God through these little ones. These 3 stories are good at bringing our souls to that awareness.

  • what happened to those 3 people?? what is wrong with this videó to rate it down??? i don't get it

  • This is my fave - I've used it twice now on my kids' website (for Sunday School).

  • This is the real, unselfish, pure love...

  • Such a great story, i cry for a long time when i thought about it, i was at school and my teacher showed it to us and several people cryed and i held back the tears, such a touching story. i cant believe that the boy would be so bad to the tree. When my mum watched it she cryed too. So sad. *crys* *crys*. thx for sharing it with us

  • Wow, this is verz good, but a bit it made me sad :( what a nice tree

  • good job. this was my fav story from my childhood (:

  • this is an outstanding video, story and music

  • It's like a mother and a child. The child gets what he want from the mother and she tries to give him even though she is left with nothing. So sad... absolutely touching... :*) a very meaningful story

  • stupid boy good tree. jk a very good book. MY grandpa wrote it

  • just discovered this. what a work of utter humanity. brings tears to your eyes and an acute sense of shame. we take so much from our parents, abuse them and don't see it. but if a work of art can awaken something in us then it's truly a work of genius. love your parents! they're only around so long...

  • what are the songs in this video/story??

  • The first song is 'Fin' by Anberlin. Thenthe song after is called 'Cat and Mouse' by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. Enjoy them both!

  • I read the words to my 3 year old son as we watched the video, and he cried. He was so touched by the way the tree was treated by the boy, he cried. I was shocked.

  • Thank you for bringing this childhood story along with us into adulthood by selecting such lovely music to accompany it.

    A beautiful work indeed!
