  • Great movie!Great song! Made me want to become an airline pilot. And I did!

  • @cdl1952 That sir, is quite an endorsement for this song. Belated Congratulations.

  • Ah, the days when people wore their Sunday best to fly...No TSA...Hard-boiled pilots...Stewardesses who were "Dames"..4 big clattering piston engines...1954, where did you go ?!? (Sigh...)

  • This melody and the chord structure has haunted me all my life. It moves from a I chord to a minor iii to minor v7 to I to 7-9 to minor iv6 V9 I.... I suppose it is all those minor chords that my brain likes.

  • @adeptwon listen to sibelius symphony number 2

  • I saw this film with my parents . I was about 10. My dad immediately bought the sheet music and both of us had fun playing it for years. I guess like the character of Wayne in the film, I have become an "old pelican."

  • I love all Tiomkin's music! ....You have an excellent channel!....My deepest congratulations!

  • Thanks...always loved this song even more than the movie. Nice to learn more about the composer, and that John did the whistling!

  • This has a very special meaning to me...I thank you.

  • One of the best theme songs ever, thanks.
