im an amercian im thinking about moving to canada. we should put the heads of tabacco companies, put theam on trial for muder see how they do. FREE MARC EMERY
It seems a shame that the American Government can reconize the right of 13 of its own states to use cannabis, yet can not extend this right to Canada.
That guy at the end was absolutely right. CTV news for example is trying to show canadian and foreign political news, economic news, entertainment, sports, weather and the furry panda type story during a 15 min to an hour loop on cable without counting the commercials. Investigative journalism is practically dead and the judicial news coverage consist mainly of a series of detached rape, murder or celebrity cases who offers no practical use to the overall canadian debate on its judicial system.
Man, who can replace him as our spokesperson? They may have won this battle, but the war still rages on. How many more casualties? Americans still have the death penalty. Now we are heading down the same drug war route, watch out it`s full of IEDs!
A true shame. Government propaganda is alive and well, folks. People just don't seem to take the time to actually look into what an injustice this truly is.
On the positive side...
Polls, for the first time, in this country are showing that people want an end to this prohibition. Unfortunately, Obama's "change" didn't make it to the drug czar, who is another hard-liner.
FREE MARC. This world is a complete mess, arresting peaceful harmless people who benefit from using some of the best medicine on Earth! Shame on the government. We need a revolution.

According to the US-Canada Extradition Treaty, Emery has committed a crime and is being justly punished. Emery is no hero. True heroes put their lives on the line for something substantial, something which actually changes the world for the better, not for drugs. If Emery succeeds he would have helped legalize something which is harmful and causes a whole host of other problems, social, heath, etc.
According to what you're saying you don't understand the situation. From what I understand the main point of him selling the seeds are for people to use for medical purposes. Yes, others use it for recreational purposes, but bear in mind it;s safer for EVERYONE than alcohol. So please, ban alcohol before you start talking about the dangers of this drug. But that isn't the point, if you understood the situation it would make sense what people are saying. Til then you shouldn't respond.
Actually it has lots to do with medical marijuana. The only strain from the government is MS-17/338 which comes crushed up, irradiated, in a tin foil bag. SHITE. Marc`s seeds are used by HC designated growers all across Canada. They are far superior and have no limits on THC levels like the government`s 12.5% limit.
Drugs can change the world for the better anti-biotics for example. Do some research on the medical benifets of cannabis and you'll be surprised how beneficial it can be. Also legalising it would cut out organized crime, reduce the amount of children using it and take out the chance for polluted herb which actually can do serious damage.
It allows thoughts to generate and fester, in people's minds, with NO prompt from the TV.
Tv would lose control over your mind, if you started thinking for yourself. It cannot penetrate through cannabis, into the deepest parts of your subconcious.
Vampire films would seem unreal, except as a representation of govt, and even T.J. Hooker would appear to be a psychopathic maniac, intent on killing someone in every episode.
We are embarassed! I'm in Indiana, USA and am on felony probation for possesion of 5 grams of marijuana and no other charges. Absurd laws supported by conservative americans.
Your only regret was that u didnt do more??? you done more in a day than most will do in a lifetime marc if there were more people like you we wouldnt have the prohibition problem
As an American this whole deal makes me SICK! This failed policy of locking up non violent drug users has me wondering why we are putting up with it? Why as Americans are we letting our nation do this? Why in these economic times are we bringing a man from Canada for seads, to lock up with our tax dollars, for 5years plus all the money spent to get to this point. All the paperwork, all the time, lawyers and Judges, who paid for all this, we barrowed money from China to lock up Marc for seeds?
This is really sad. it shows how evil the corrupt prohition supporting government in the U.S. is. I love Gandhi, he showd that with non violent means you can overthrow tirans. but i find it more and more difficult to not fight fire with fire. But i still realise that who lives by the sword, dies by the sword.
What a load of shit, only reason weed is ilegal is because the governmaent cant fuckin tax it and make money out of it so they make it ilegal so they can make money, fuckin wankers.
Hey SJRNWT I think your the idiot, or else you would think or maybe look into somehting before sommenting. The type of prison he will be in would be meant for foreign crimanls who are not US citizens, so most of the poeple in the prison would not speak english.
So instead of waiting until it's legal to sell seeds, he did it anyways and then is now complaining because he's being prosecuted?
Ugh... It's hard for me to support Marc Emery because I'm not against people using cannabis, but I am against them using cannabis products that are illegal and then bitching about it when they are prosecuted.
"there's certainly no crime"
Is that so? So you're saying, Marc Emery, that selling seeds in America is legal? WRONG.
So selling Americans something that's illegal in their country is fine? HELLO???? America is ALWAYS bitching about how Mexico supplies illegal drugs to them and they're already working with the Mexican government to prosecute dealers.
Uhh... when did we make the switch from books to drugs?
Priorities-- you should learn what they are. Priorities as in terrorism over drugs, and drugs over fucking books.
And we're talking about Canada and America, not Saudi America and America, and not beer either you fool. You still fail to realize that nations tend to take drug related crimes far more serious than things like alcohol or literature related crimes....
Here's an example since you have trouble seeing the difference between drug and alcohol related crimes in foreign countries...
A few years back, 2 Australian tourists went to Malaysia and brought a pound of weed with them. They were caught, and threatened with the death sentence. Australia gave their best efforts to try to bring back the 2 men, but in the end they were executed.
The point? Don't fuck around with drugs when you're dealing with different countries. That includes selling.
SJRNWT: Fact is, he never exported drugs. He exported seeds. He didn't ship pounds of pot over to the USA. He shipped seeds; which is legal in Canada.
furthermore, seeds were already readily available in amerika & still are
the only way marc resulted in MORE cannabis being grown is cus the genetics are superior. people were obviously growing weed down there before marc came along
this was a politically motivated case & canada should never have signed the extradition
SJRNWT here are the facts 1 there is no THC in cannabis seeds FACT 2 There are no CANNABINIODS in cannabis seeds FACT so how was he exporting drugs ? your tenuous reasons for your support for this bullshit case show that water flouridization really destroys the frontal lobe and general capacity for self awareness please give a truly moral reason for this to continue please watch run from the cure it proves cannabis cures cancer FACT Peace
The other point is that the Australian government did everything they could to bring the two men home. The Canadian Government has done and continues to do nothing with Emery and other Canadians in other countries. Omar Kadhr immediately comes to mind.
statute laws has the FORCE OF LAW WHEN CONSENTED BY THE GOVERNED
FACT
if you dont consent it does not stand
you obvously have little knowledge of your rights
and that is not 100% your fault
i blame the bullshit education you had but after that its your fault for not questioning EVERYTHING put to you as FACT only that which your told you are allowed'' to know
really give something of value if you wabt yo actually appear lucid and open minded blinkered vision only ruins your view
What is Canada coming to..? A non violent crime and Canada just bends over and let the US take who they want and for what they want...sad ...A NON VIOLENT CRIME...FUCK THE US!!!!
blessed are those persecuted for rightousness sake for theres is the kingdomof heaven
now im not a religous man but the us government says they are "in god we trust"
this law was brought in to keep the alcohol proabition enforcers in a job at the publics expense racist laws against mexicans and blacks it should,ve been lifted back when different races were allowed to eat together
just too many lies about our beautiful plant and we all know how much americans like to admit they were wrong!

Emery is drug pusher not only selling seeds to a country where possessing them is illegal, to buyers of any age, but he was also using the money to fund pro marijuana activities in the US. Emery can advocate for the decriminalization of marijuana and other drugs but he broke the law and for this he should be punished. Had he kept his seeds in Canada, he wouldn't be in this predicament. However, he tried to circumvent the laws of another country, and that was a mistake.
You are a fucking moron!!! Mark Emery is a hero activist standing up for personal liberties not jut for his own country but for all.... You on the other hand are simply an ignorant douche bag christian conservative dipshit! Using your logic the United States would still be under British rule and your make believe savior's death would have been justified. Not all laws are right or just and should be challenged. In your case ignorance truly is BLISS isn't it you smug ASSHOLE?!?!
Regardless of your opinion of what he did, Marc is not a US citizen & should only be subject to the laws of his country, CANADA. ...unless he steps on US soil (which he hasn't in 16+ years). If anything (& I don't agree with this) , the US should go after the Americans who purchased the seeds! THEY are the ones who broke the laws of THEIR country. They are the ones who are subject to US law, not a Canadian acting on Canadian soil. Last time I checked Canada was a sovereign nation.
Funny, how seed dealers still send seeds to the USA and have been doing it for years, yet only one man has been charged. Why is that? Oh right, because instead of just collecting the cash, Emery funded a campaign to change the law. Sell seeds, just don't try to change the law! That's all this case is about. Nothing else. He's a political prisoner. And you support that? How come there are many companies still selling seeds and not busted? Because they don't get political with their profits.
According to the Extradition Treaty between the USA and Canada, Emery committed an offense by which he may be extradited to face charges in the US. This offense is listed number 26 in the Treaty's schedule.
i hope everything works out for the best. hopefully we can get him into a canadian jail instead of the states.. my love goes out to both of you and everything you guys have done for the cannabis culture. never stop, cuz we wont
Jodie stay strong in this hard time of your life and to Marc i hope that you continue supporting what you belive in and i will be supporting and telling all my friends to watch this video and possibly try to do somthing about this great unjustice to the canadien people and to myself as a canadien citezen i think this is BULLSHIT
I will state unequivocally I believe that marijuana should be decriminalized.
The problem is Marc, you broke the law when you send seeds across country boundary and whether you agree or not does not change that you have to pay the price for those illegal actions, period.
yes pot should be legal, but when your selling something which you know in advance is illegal with the intent to make money ACROSS THE FUCKING BORDER to a country you know is politically vicious and is known to extradite, then dont cry victim when you get caught
And Marc is not crying victim, he's not saying he shouldn't be dealt with for his actions -- it's that he should not be punished by Americans, he should be tried and sentenced in Canada if it's a crime...
well you have to admit what he did can and will be construed as "trafficking" across the border, as they were his seeds and the intent was to distribute, and since american federal law says that marijuanna is illegal, they have to enforce it.
as soon as those seeds crossed the border it became an american "problem"
unfortunatley you dont get carte blanche
and as for you asking what crime was committed, exporting marijuanna seeds across the country border into the U.S.
It's still only seeds crossing the border and official statements show this was about much more than the seeds. The DEA statement more than confirms this, the seeds business is just what they were waiting for to get their hands on Marc. The Canadian system did not care to prosecute him for this and moves by the conservatives clearly show they wanted to get rid of Marc by letting the americans deal with him.
Marc has been a thorn in the system's side for a long time and the seeds business is just what they needed to take him out of business, even if it's only temporary, to show the rest of the movement that no one is safe from prosecution. Of course with the conservatives in power and them being so against all personal liberty such as carrying vegatation in your pockets this was timed well by the DEA. Perhaps if the govt changes in the next election Marc might come to Canada faster?
No, the crime was the Americans importing marijuana seeds across the border. Marc's "crime" was exporting from Canada, so he should be dealt with by our criminal/justice system.
Did you read everything about how the VPD tried to get him charged here and the Crown refused? If the federal crown refused to charge him here in 2003, then why was the file be sent to the USA to have Marc indicted there? Because the Vancouver police are guilty of outsourcing our justice system for a man they dislike.
He shouldn't be "punished" at all. A crime by definition is doing harm to another or his/her possesions... Prohibition makes a crime out of acts that ARE NOT CRIMINAL. The War on drugs is a civil war against each citizen.. and is therefore illegal, and Tyrannical... We have an actual duty, at least in America, to stand up against such Tyranny... Marc is Standing up for us ALL.. Doing what is right and just is not always in accordance with the Laws of Man and state. This is HIGHER Law..
Here's the problem, though: it's about exporting a citizen to a foreign justice system. First, in 2003 the Vancouver Police Department investigated Marc and brought the charges for selling seeds to court. The Crown refused to prosecute, saying there was no public interest. Then the VPD handed the file to the DEA (I have a cop admitting it on film). So the DEA and extradition stuff happened in 2005. Then, in 2008, the USA offered to let Marc serve his time in Canada, but our government refused.
Marc carried out his business in Canada at all times, so if any crime was committed in the USA regarding his seeds, it was the importation by the customers.
Also take into regard the DEA press release from the day of his arrest, available at NoExtradition-dot-net and reads:
"Today's DEA arrest of Marc Scott Emery, publisher of Cannabis Culture Magazine, and the founder of a marijuana legalization group, is a signficant blow ... to the marijuana legalization movement. (cont.)
"His marijuana trade and propagandist marijuana magazine have generated nearly $5 million a year in profits that bolstered his trafficking efforts, but those have gone up in smoke today. Emery and his organization had been designated as one of the Attorney General's most wanted international drug trafficking organizational targets -- one of only 46 in the world and the only one from Canada. (cont.)
"Hundreds of thousands of dollars of Emery's illicit profits are known to have been channeled to marijuana legalization groups active in the United States and Canda. Drug legalization lobbyists now have one less pot of money to rely on."
So who are the victims? What crime was committed? They had to charge him with "Conspiracy" because he never actually "manufactured" or "distributed" marijuana. It's all politically motivated and started in 2002 when the Drug Czar got shamed out of Vancouver...
Well spoken speach. It is shameful to live in a world where a good man like this can be taken away for helping others grow a plant. How many more need to be arrested for having vegetation in their pockets??
...... Let the herb grow unmolested upon the mountains, and peace shall reign in the valleys... Free Marc Emery...... Free the Herb..... Free the Drug War prisoners..... and Free Tibet.... End Oppression against Mankind...
This makes me so angry and sad. How could the the U.S. government think this peaceful man is a harm to society just by selling marijuana seeds? What the fuck?!
Someone should break him out and take him somewhere secret and safe, where he could operate from and shift his focus to a new, underground phase of Emery.
My country embarrasses me over this. It's just stupid. They did the same thing to Tim Leary. Is this supposed to teach us all a lesson? How exactly? No one lose hope. The movement is the biggest it has been. There's so much support for cannabis. Everyone keep fighting in your own ways. The so-called war on drugs is a failure, especially since the U.S. has played it on both sides. I give my support to you and Marc. Stay strong Jodie! Be safe!
poor jodie your probly hurtin sooo bad i wish the Conservatives weren't all a bunchs of dipshits they have to realize marjuana hurts no one `and that commiting a crime in your own country calls for a jail sentence in your own country!
THis is outrageous don't you just despise the American Government. They strut around like bullies in the playground but wouldn't countenace being treated by other coutries the way they treat them.
Make no doubt Marc is a scapegoat because he publically humiliated John Walters for spreading lies about marijuana.
If people where discriminated for there religion or there sexuality the same way cananbis users are for their choice of drug there would be outrage.
Absurd that people in this world go to jail over a fucking plant.

LucianAdonis 2 years ago 2
Again, this has nothing to do with medicinal marihuana. His focus is legalization of the whole plant and all it's many useful derivatives.
indicadave 2 years ago 3
Actually it has lots to do with medical marijuana. The only strain from the government is MS-17/338 which comes crushed up, irradiated, in a tin foil bag. SHITE. Marc`s seeds are used by HC designated growers all across Canada. They are far superior and have no limits on THC levels like the government`s 12.5% limit.
bigtarrose 2 years ago 2
Drugs can change the world for the better anti-biotics for example. Do some research on the medical benifets of cannabis and you'll be surprised how beneficial it can be. Also legalising it would cut out organized crime, reduce the amount of children using it and take out the chance for polluted herb which actually can do serious damage.
Phily19 2 years ago 4
Yes, but it is "ANTI- BRAINWASH".

Marc is een politieke gevange, want veel meer mensen verkopen marihuana zaadjes in Amerika.
WRONG.

American booksellers mailorder books to Canada.
Books that are illegal in Canada.
Should the American police arrest these people
and send them to Canada for trial?
How about arresting the chairman of COORS
and sending him to Saudi Arabia for trial?
After all, beer is illegal in Saudi Arabia,
and it IS imported there for American oil field workers.
shas1814 2 years ago
Uhh... when did we make the switch from books to drugs?
Priorities-- you should learn what they are. Priorities as in terrorism over drugs, and drugs over fucking books.
And we're talking about Canada and America, not Saudi America and America, and not beer either you fool. You still fail to realize that nations tend to take drug related crimes far more serious than things like alcohol or literature related crimes....
Comparing the legality of books and weed... Wow.
SJRNWT 2 years ago
Here's an example since you have trouble seeing the difference between drug and alcohol related crimes in foreign countries...
A few years back, 2 Australian tourists went to Malaysia and brought a pound of weed with them. They were caught, and threatened with the death sentence. Australia gave their best efforts to try to bring back the 2 men, but in the end they were executed.
The point? Don't fuck around with drugs when you're dealing with different countries. That includes selling.
SJRNWT 2 years ago
But in your "example", please notice this:
The Aussies were in a foreign country!
Marc Emery NEVER was in the USA.
Can you see the difference?
shas1814 2 years ago
Yeah I see the difference, but the fact is that if you export drugs to another country, you will be held responsible.
How do you think extradition came about??
SJRNWT 2 years ago
SJRNWT: Fact is, he never exported drugs. He exported seeds. He didn't ship pounds of pot over to the USA. He shipped seeds; which is legal in Canada.

furthermore, seeds were already readily available in amerika & still are

Emery is drug pusher not only selling seeds to a country where possessing them is illegal, to buyers of any age, but he was also using the money to fund pro marijuana activities in the US. Emery can advocate for the decriminalization of marijuana and other drugs but he broke the law and for this he should be punished. Had he kept his seeds in Canada, he wouldn't be in this predicament. However, he tried to circumvent the laws of another country, and that was a mistake.

Last time I checked Canada was a sovereign nation.
gared111 2 years ago
Funny, how seed dealers still send seeds to the USA and have been doing it for years, yet only one man has been charged. Why is that? Oh right, because instead of just collecting the cash, Emery funded a campaign to change the law. Sell seeds, just don't try to change the law! That's all this case is about. Nothing else. He's a political prisoner. And you support that? How come there are many companies still selling seeds and not busted? Because they don't get political with their profits.

The problem is Marc, you broke the law when you send seeds across country boundary and whether you agree or not does not change that you have to pay the price for those illegal actions, period.
SkyHawk61 2 years ago
finally someone with common sense
yes pot should be legal, but when your selling something which you know in advance is illegal with the intent to make money ACROSS THE FUCKING BORDER to a country you know is politically vicious and is known to extradite, then dont cry victim when you get caught
XmXFLUXmX 2 years ago
XmXFLUXmX, please read my response to SkyHawk61.
And Marc is not crying victim, he's not saying he shouldn't be dealt with for his actions -- it's that he should not be punished by Americans, he should be tried and sentenced in Canada if it's a crime...
JodieEmery 2 years ago
well you have to admit what he did can and will be construed as "trafficking" across the border, as they were his seeds and the intent was to distribute, and since american federal law says that marijuanna is illegal, they have to enforce it.
as soon as those seeds crossed the border it became an american "problem"
unfortunatley you dont get carte blanche
and as for you asking what crime was committed, exporting marijuanna seeds across the country border into the U.S.
XmXFLUXmX 2 years ago
It's still only seeds crossing the border and official statements show this was about much more than the seeds. The DEA statement more than confirms this, the seeds business is just what they were waiting for to get their hands on Marc. The Canadian system did not care to prosecute him for this and moves by the conservatives clearly show they wanted to get rid of Marc by letting the americans deal with him.
Nebbyker 2 years ago
Marc has been a thorn in the system's side for a long time and the seeds business is just what they needed to take him out of business, even if it's only temporary, to show the rest of the movement that no one is safe from prosecution. Of course with the conservatives in power and them being so against all personal liberty such as carrying vegatation in your pockets this was timed well by the DEA. Perhaps if the govt changes in the next election Marc might come to Canada faster?
Nebbyker 2 years ago
No, the crime was the Americans importing marijuana seeds across the border. Marc's "crime" was exporting from Canada, so he should be dealt with by our criminal/justice system.
Did you read everything about how the VPD tried to get him charged here and the Crown refused? If the federal crown refused to charge him here in 2003, then why was the file be sent to the USA to have Marc indicted there? Because the Vancouver police are guilty of outsourcing our justice system for a man they dislike.
JodieEmery 2 years ago
He shouldn't be "punished" at all. A crime by definition is doing harm to another or his/her possesions... Prohibition makes a crime out of acts that ARE NOT CRIMINAL. The War on drugs is a civil war against each citizen.. and is therefore illegal, and Tyrannical... We have an actual duty, at least in America, to stand up against such Tyranny... Marc is Standing up for us ALL.. Doing what is right and just is not always in accordance with the Laws of Man and state. This is HIGHER Law..
younwhosarmy 2 years ago
Here's the problem, though: it's about exporting a citizen to a foreign justice system. First, in 2003 the Vancouver Police Department investigated Marc and brought the charges for selling seeds to court. The Crown refused to prosecute, saying there was no public interest. Then the VPD handed the file to the DEA (I have a cop admitting it on film). So the DEA and extradition stuff happened in 2005. Then, in 2008, the USA offered to let Marc serve his time in Canada, but our government refused.
JodieEmery 2 years ago
Marc carried out his business in Canada at all times, so if any crime was committed in the USA regarding his seeds, it was the importation by the customers.
Also take into regard the DEA press release from the day of his arrest, available at NoExtradition-dot-net and reads:
"Today's DEA arrest of Marc Scott Emery, publisher of Cannabis Culture Magazine, and the founder of a marijuana legalization group, is a signficant blow ... to the marijuana legalization movement. (cont.)
JodieEmery 2 years ago
"His marijuana trade and propagandist marijuana magazine have generated nearly $5 million a year in profits that bolstered his trafficking efforts, but those have gone up in smoke today. Emery and his organization had been designated as one of the Attorney General's most wanted international drug trafficking organizational targets -- one of only 46 in the world and the only one from Canada. (cont.)
JodieEmery 2 years ago
"Hundreds of thousands of dollars of Emery's illicit profits are known to have been channeled to marijuana legalization groups active in the United States and Canda. Drug legalization lobbyists now have one less pot of money to rely on."
So who are the victims? What crime was committed? They had to charge him with "Conspiracy" because he never actually "manufactured" or "distributed" marijuana. It's all politically motivated and started in 2002 when the Drug Czar got shamed out of Vancouver...
JodieEmery 2 years ago
Well spoken speach. It is shameful to live in a world where a good man like this can be taken away for helping others grow a plant. How many more need to be arrested for having vegetation in their pockets??
