  • i get mad as heck when today 2011 on some radio formats they still play this version, i need the the longer version to feel satfied. its like getting a big mac without the cheese and the frilly lettuce.

  • Definitely not the original 1972 U.S. single release on ABC records. This sounds like someone tried to do a 're-creation' of the original 45 rpm version. The original single version has a 41 second intro (the album version has a 1:05 intro). This one here is a hacked 22 second intro and it is missing the 'downward slope' going into the start of the lyrics. The original 45 single ending (after the last lyrics are sung) fades from 3:57 to 4:11 . This one has the song fading from 3:37 to 3:59.

  • Good stuff! SD best band there ever was and is.

  • this is VERY common in both 45s and promos. But to get the tracks often they had to come from radio stations. I stumbled into over 1000 radio station albums around 1990 that were being THROWN OUT. Still haven't listened to most of them but many have edited versions. In the eighties it went the OTHER WAY in making extended DJ versions. I like the FULL LENGTHS better!!! The great examples are the sixties radio versions of Light My Fire and Inagaddadavida

  • i think this version is usually played on the radio when it IS played

  • @kell1reilly2 ...I think it depends if you're listening to AM radio, which is more likely to play this shorter version; as opposed to FM radio, which almost always plays the longer album version.

  • I vaguely remember hearing this short version, but it has been a long time since I have. Thanks for sharing!
