They had a big success with Savannah Churchill on "Time Out For Tears" in the '40s and later as a single by themselves.Saw them many times in 1957 at the Martinique in Wildwood,NJ
wonderful group here. i would like to hear "tired of waiting" and wonder if you can post it. thank you so much for the treat. tom d brick,nj............;Tom D
This, the Four Tines' second hit, was a million-seller in 1954. It reached #6 over a fifteen week run beginning May 29, 1954. The flip side, "Sugar Lump," also charted, reaching #23 in June 1954. This is a good version, but frankly I prefer the G-Clefs' rendition.
The Four Tunes were my very first favorite vocal group. Their 'Marie' still grooves me every time. This is my favorite version of this song, too. So great to see the family leaving comments here! I never got to see them, but collected their records all through the years.
I've heard pops mention Savannah a number of times over the years.
When I joined the tunes as their drummer back in 1980 until they retired, Marie was the most fun song for me because it captured the energetic essence of the 4 tunes even in their later years.
Thanks for posting that. The lead vocalist is my late father. That brings back alot of great memories.I was fortunate enough to travel and play drums for the tunes in their final years.
wow, what a great song. Thanks for posting
