I`m pretty sure the guy built the wall then tried to put it into place next to the water heater where all the tile is removed. Then he realized it wouldn`t hit a rafter there so he moved it about 8 inches away from the water heater. SO he was 3/16 too tall so he used the sledge to jam it into place under the rafter. Not the best carpenter, next time call a proffesional.
