In the early '60's, my father was assigned to USARHAW (G-3) in Hawaii. He was the Officer responsible for overseeing the installation of Nike Hercules sites throughout the Hawaiian Islands with the Hawaii National Guard. He chose the site locations, oversaw construction, and supervised the training of National Guardsmen manning the sites.
I remember how fun it was back then watching test firings!
they were about to make a city there but when s.f. heard that this was here they chose not to turn it into a city so they can save and preserve that history. now no one can launch i if it was launched there will be no s.f ,richmond, l.a (the bay area cities)
they served the soldiers there and i will always remember this history in the marin headlands
Excellent! Nice camera work and editing..Cool tune too!!
I put this into my favorites! I have to show my father this video..he'll like it! My father was in the Nike 'Ajax' missile program (1950's). He actually got to launch a couple of Nike missiles at White Sands.
excellent video I enjoy hiking to these places . In Connecticut they just destroyed them or the towns now us them I see you saw my videos thanks for the feedback
I was stationed at SF88 from Dec 1967 to May 1970 as a MP dog handler, super duty!
