@YummyBananaFish Paul didn't smash his pink Epi. Bruce smashed his green one. I asked him about it years ago. I found an old guitar magazine with that green epi hanging from the corner of the painted 4x12's. The guitar was clearly broken. I'd LOVE to have a guitar like that. I'll stick to my old Ibanez 750's and 550's and USA Customs.
@ToneZone750 I know Paul didn't. I was saying why did Bruce smash his! Seems kinda crazy to me; those pink and green guitars are the first thing I see when I think of Paul and Bruce. Anyway yeah man I agree. My next guitar purchase is gonna be that Wilshire reissue for sure, I'll paint it pink and all that.
yeah this is the Ibanez. The epiphone looked totally different. I used to go see these guys almost every week back then. I wonder what happened to Bruce this night? Listening back now to these guys, they really werent all that great. just a lot of flash and loud guitars. the music was very weak. But back then I thought they were the greatest band in the world. DOH!!!
@Fendershred50 yeah thats pretty weak to be so self indulgent, but then again the 80's we're pretty much just that. Self indulgent and weak. They sound kind of weak without a rhythm guitar.
@YummyBananaFish Well he did play rhythm, as did paul when the other would solo. Of course they played double leads. I was there in 1987 watching them do this in L.A. Every week I got to see Racer X perform in some little hole in the wall and just tear the house down. Scott Travis was a monster back then. I never called Bruce a "simple rhythm guitarist" So quit talking shit you idiot.
@EddySwass I'm jealous of you! Being English and also born in the 90s, I'm at a bit of a loss if it came to seeing Racer X. Anyway your reply is a lot more enthusiastic about them than your last comment where you said they were self indulgent and weak. Tear the house down huh? I don't think the band was there just to showcase the guitarists, all the musicians were amazing and the songs came out pretty great. I'm just sayin'. I look forward to your angry reply sir.
@YummyBananaFish Angry?? Im not angry you little english muffin. I was just around too much of that neoclassical guitar playing back then that I'm burned out on it a little bit. I am grateful that I got to experience such phenomenal musicianship in the little clubs back then.Dude where I live Van Halen grew up here and played back yard parties all the time. I was just a little too young then, but seeing Racer X was just like experiencing some arena rock band in a club setting.
actually he had a few of those... the first couple were epiphones but the one here (pink and no scratchplate) was made by ibanez. I've only ever heard him call it his 'fantasy guitar,' there were only a few made for paul and bruce
Paul sure uses a lot of chorus in the 80's!

they weren't as bad as you think, but i never really thought they were amazing, it's mostly a band made to showcase Paul Gilbert's amazing guitaring
