I remember reading about Zul'Drak when the Beta was out, and I was so excited for this zone. And what can I say, when I first got there myself, I was not disappointed.
@fealmor i think it looks like mayan and aztec some sort of together, after my opinion... but i got no clue on dead cultures and dead language and sutch all i know is that in some part of mexico a litle town or something speaks mayan... dunno if it's true tho, but aztec got no bloody clue... sorry m8. but i know one thing, mayan and aztec crumbled , dunno if it's the right word for it, but crumbled together is pretty awesome, fits the music and sutch :->
@fealmor Aztecs capital city Tenochtitlan was situated right under Mexico City so Mexican culture is in fact the Aztec culture. As to the question, which culture Zul Drak is, I would say it is closer to the Maya but thats only because I have only attended to the Maya religion course yet. As far as I know, every pyramid tried to resemble a nearby sacred mountain and every pyramid was built like a mountain with an inner structure inside which served as a cave. I study religions btw :)
@fealmor I love Zul Drak too :) mainly the irony behind its story. Trolls sacrificed their gods to become powerful enough to defend themselves becoming equally disgusting and dangerous like the Scourge they were trying to fend off. In result they destroyed their own culture, desecrated their land and grown power hungry just like the Lich King who, having nothing else to do, just kept increasing his power and extending his reign over an empty kingdom and literally empty people...
Absolutely loved riding into this zone for the first time..Can't quite put my finger on it...there's something almost surreal about the atmosphere that I wish I could explain
@Chrysaetos11 Strongly Agreed. Sometimes I felt better having a wolf or bear with my dwarf hunter to quest with in this zone. And I remember "plenty" PvP battles here as well which made me more alert. I think both factions really got a kick questing and confronting opposed factions in this cool atmosphere while listening to a good track=]
@khatack If you think you changed me opinion you are sadly mistaken. And no Borean Tundra does not have bad scenery. Howling Fjord if honestly one of the most boring places in wow I have been to and is my least favourite in NR. Borean tundra is very fun to quest in and its scenery is perfect for what it is. It's a tundra what do you expect? Also you provided no evidence as to why it is so "horrible" so ... that was just stupid. I love Borean Tundra, I hate Howling Fjord. Deal with it.
@khatack he's not 'wrong'. people feel an affiliation with different parts of this amazing game and if it works for them then that's all it needs to be.
Except that the game sucks. It's like tobacco; it smells bad, it tastes bad, it makes you feel sick, it damages your health, and after all that you're expected to pay money for it. Some people like it yeah, but I strongly question their mental capacity.
WoW is like that. It's utterly boring, unrewarding, time consuming and it has a negative effect on your health and social life, and on top of that you're expected to pay for it. If you feel that's a good deal, you're an idiot.
@khatack online judgements are easy - especially if it's a game you've already played in the past.
which you have.
judging by the comments on your page i only have one piece of advice for you, and i doubt you're going to listen - to each their own, and anyone who has to go on a 'crusade' to pull down other people just because you grew out of a game that you once enjoyed needs to get laid and have friends in real life.
Nah, I'm not unhappy. Merely bored at times. Still, what I said about WoW is true; it is boring as hell. Unless you consider repeating the same overly simple pattern over and over again to be interesting. I'm not on a crusade, merely provoking reactions from people for my own amusement.
I too have an advice for you: don't take anonymous youtube comments so seriously.
@khatack you are unhappy and you're also full of cliches. you also play alot of games, you don't have a girlfriend, and when you do play you spend half your time being an online persona to compensate for who you are.
trust me - you're unhappy.
if i was wrong, you wouldn't be a 26 year old who's afraid to test himself in life, and so he imitates 15 year old trolls instead. believe it or not, manhood is part of your natural progression - but you're a long way from finding that out. good luck
Amazing insight for someone who has never actually met me. I would raise my hat for you if I wore one.
But then again, we all make do with what we've got don't we? After all, being a troll isn't so bad; you can regenerate lost limbs and don't feel pain. Just stay away from acid, and especially flames and you'll be fine.
@khatack it doesn't take amazing insight to know what sort of person you are.
infact it's crystal clear.
one day you might decide to take a chance in real life, get a girlfriend, some character and self-esteem and you'll realise how easy it is to read fake people.
and no - you're not making do with what you've got.
you just don't believe in yourself nearly enough to test those limits.
You sound like you speak from experience, judging from how long this dialogue has kept you interested enough to keep writing. A random fake troll can't be *that* interesting, so the experience must be fairly recent.
Since you've so readily given me advice, I'll give you one in return: there is still more to learn from where you were.
You actually sound a lot like a certain friend of mine. Amazing how fast people are to pass judgement on their own past failings isn't it?
@khatack but you're not random. i bet you can't even remember the last time you played online and didn't try to get a bite from people. the only people that do that - the only ones - are bored teenagers with no sex life.
you're 26 years old and you still do it.
you can't buy self-respect and character, champ, so why the fuck don't you show a little backbone and make something of your life?
because all you're doing right now is making yourself smaller
Now now, there's no need to be so rude. A less understanding person might have been offended. In all seriousness though, I see that you like to take the moral high ground to shield you. You make assumptions and force feed them to your target.
Get your facts straight: you don't know me, you don't know what kind of achievements I have made nor what kind of problems I struggle with. If you're genuinely interested then send me the PM you were talking about, otherwise stop trolling
this is the sound of ancient dark secrets that are held with a civialzation, lost in since time unknown, built by mighty hands yet still fallen to darkness and mysterie
I love this area's music when you fight Novos the Summoner. It's very well suited to fighting a Lich, especially one who sounds as frigid as that one. "The chill you feel is the herald of your doom."
i've just come back from living in europe for 5 years (i'm in australia now)| and DAMN! i miss this game and the feel it has.

The music in Wow WOTLK is by faaaar the bast music i have ever heard in ANY game.. and the zul'drak music is the best of them all. Gives me the creeps, i feel like im in 'Apocalyptica' every time im there
I agree; I always thought the atmosphere and the music gave the whole area an apocalyptic vibe like the whole world is about to end. Just look at the sky.
@tuvull Although I prefer the Burning Crusade music to Lich King in general, I agree that the Zul'Drak music rocks. Sometimes I fly through just to hear the music.
Many thanks for this. The music from Zul'drak has often been an inspiration to me when writing stories, especially for contests and the like. However, if I may ask, could you perhaps post the Gun'drak music (which I believe is a compilation of almost every troll song there is... so... *thumbsup*) Also, each Loa altar has its own chant. I'd recommend posting 2:30 for each altar (there are four) on a 10:00 vid. Thanks again!
hmm.. i owe WOWmusicguru a big thanks for posting this, and the other soundtracks :) cheers! now, as everybody else i want to say , my favorites are: Howling Fjord , Grizzly , Sholazar and Storm peaks =3 truly, amazing..ive got all the soundtracks on my computer! <3
'allies' implies they wanted to join his army...they got drafted through undeath. Although drakuru betrayed the Drakkari willingly and asks u 2 join him.

American slang like "kickass" doesn't go with jamaican-like speech...at all.

When i reach this place i really loved to read the quest log , normaly i wouldn't do that...
i hope blizzard will make more of these regions.

Who rules this land now? Drakkari or Scourge?
And who WILL rule this land and who will die?
i think drakkari are losing this battle but idk...

I wonder if I can kill that big stanky troll with the freed giant.

Creeeeepy! But awesome.

This music's downright psychoactive, it's a great change from the rest of the music (which is all amazing too).

Lok' TAr!!!! This is God HUnters Lich King Soundtrack or?

Yeah similar track, same music though.

Def one of my favourite Northrend Zones. The place is basically one massive fortress, and you just know the scorge is in control when you get there.
That and the music ROCKS!!!
SithPuppy 2 years ago 5
Actually SithPuppy, the scourge are NOT in control here...the farthest they got in Zul'Drak is that crashed necropolis.

I love those drums that come midway through.

This music, plus area, plus terrifying looking undead trolls equals very scary place!
AidanMclaren 2 years ago 4
Makes me shiver, made me already shiver when questing there, with all the undead trolls and spiders and half-baked Naxxramas... and Thrym coming from behind and killing you while you are regenerating mana :D

Yeah, this song gives me the creeps every time I'm in Zul'Drak... that and Thrym the Hope Ender... So freaky.

The noseless Trolls were the worst part for me.

The music in Wow WOTLK is by faaaar the bast music i have ever heard in ANY game.. and the zul'drak music is the best of them all. Gives me the creeps, i feel like im in 'Apocalyptica' every time im there
tuvull 2 years ago 12
Agree, the area is very strange
QBisbest 2 years ago
I agree; I always thought the atmosphere and the music gave the whole area an apocalyptic vibe like the whole world is about to end. Just look at the sky.
Nagoragama 2 years ago 6
Same here! I always thought that this zone had the deepest atmosphere in Northrend.
Spartan10169 2 years ago 3
@tuvull Although I prefer the Burning Crusade music to Lich King in general, I agree that the Zul'Drak music rocks. Sometimes I fly through just to hear the music.

@SaberScorpion
I'm definitely the same saber. Loved BC music, and Zul'drak is the only one from WotLK that I actually liked.

I hate questing in Zul'drak for some reason...I love the zone, but the quests just make me feel like I'm not playing a game...I'm working.
rammsteinfreak4 2 years ago
this song scares the fuck out of me, lol.
TWENTYFOURJE 2 years ago 4
My favorite quest area. I love zuldrak it really feels like this area is in the total grip of the Lich King and his Undead Troll Allies.
Stephan419 2 years ago
'allies' implies they wanted to join his army...they got drafted through undeath. Although drakuru betrayed the Drakkari willingly and asks u 2 join him.

I find Zul'Drak the most creepy area in wotlk

Nice music, but Storm Peaks pwns everything Bliz ever made
Epimachus123 3 years ago
Mystical, ancient, sorrowful.
This theme is one of the most intriguing I've stumbled upon in the game. I really like it.

Yeah I love this zone. It kinda gives you sense of Dark Shamanism. Its almost like the land itself is about to swallow you.
