Well, if you cared a little bit you'd known that Robert has been Trey's teacher for a number of years too and to be influenced by your teachers is the most natural thing in the world
@CarryingNoCross I know Trey Gunn was a student of Fripp. But there's a big difference between imitation and influence. Also depends on who wrote the piece being performed here.
Either Trey hits some crazy double stops here, or he's got a pitch shifter with a very dissonant interval going on. I can never quite make out which one though.
I can see how people would find this horrible, but personally I love the atonality and randomness of it. It's very disconcerting, and in that regard, if you don't like it, then I'd say he's doing his job. lol
Personally, I think this sounds really cool. But to be completely honest, this isn't exactly a mainstream type act, so I could see where the people who don't enjoy it are coming from.
@milezkkk do you know how difficult is to play warr guitar? I supose you don't have a clue. You can see it in Trey's fingers, it's a whole different technique. I think his playing is superb. I like the dissonant sound.
@TheNonAntiAnarchist so, to be a really good guitarist, you have to SHRED all the time? Get a clue, not to mention, an imagination. Metal heads going on about technique and blah blah blah, is so much water off a ducks back. If I want to learn technique, I'll go with Julian Bream or McLaughlin.

When u r rich u can waste money in instruments that u dont need and u dont know how to play, i mean, why he doesn't play this shit (a monkey can play a better solo) on a guitar? he use the right hand only to tap, like on a mf guitar. Middle age sucks, u want look cool, but u only look sad.
@milezkkk Um, do you suppose he got rich because he doesn't know how to play a Warr guitar and that he plays so badly? Yes, of course, bad playing makes lots of people rich. I'm certain you're a WAY better player than this "monkey" Trey Gunn, which qualifies you to post such drivel.
The guys in King Crimson tend to have a lot of dissonant and "off-kilter" sounding songs, so it makes sense that they would like improvising in the same way. That is, if you were saying the way it sounded was sloppy or something like that. I would imagine it's quite calculated (as much as improv can be :P )

It's a ripoff of Fripp's playing on albums like Scary Monsters and The First Day.
Not that I care but it's rude to steal from the person who gave you your first and only shot.

@JerGanrit It's a pitch shifter playing a minor second I think.

I'm sorry, the guitar is cool and all, but that playing was horrendous. I agree, I'd like to see Buckethead shred on this guitar!

@TheNonAntiAnarchist He plays with a lot of feeling. I think he played with too much feeling which is the problem.
