very true. i see students do this all the time, while i just sit in the class, relax, and take it all in as a review and check. good books are better references than notes anyday. i just use notes for something i want to look up later, or a better organization or model for thinking.

I think the problem of people that write down too many notes, is that they have difficulties to distil what is important and what not.

So to advise people to just write down the important points (2.28 minute) is exactly what they are not capable of, yet...

Nice job. I certainly agree that we should not write down everything unless it's important. Our brain can't absorb everything anyway but simplifying and minimizing words make it easy for our brains to process information.

Excellent video. I always wondered why teachers never teach note taking.

It seems like such an essential skill, but somehow they leave it up to the students to both learn note taking while they have to take notes. :-/
