if my memory serves correctly, this is what happens when you transfer the surfing pikachu from pokemon stadium for the N64 (or is it the second pokémon stadium?) and use surf with it. I can understand how you got confused, unlike some folks who bombard people who don't know absolutely everything about pokémon.

Surfing Pikachu = Kick Ass, no more fear of Rock, or ground types ever agian, since surf is one of the best moves.

i forgot how to get this pikachu... man i remember everyone crowding around me cause i was a *good enough * trainer to get a surfing pikachu. that proved i was better than them. i was like I CAN TEACH MY PIKACHU SURF IN YOUR FACE :D lol

If I remember right, you have to bring your starter Pikachu (which means it's only possible in the Yellow Edition) to some guy and play a surfer minigame. After that, your Pikachu should now have Surfer.

Still, I'm not really sure... Normal ways of teaching Pikachu Surfer won't work, that's for sure.

Speaking of Surfer, I just remember Pokémon Stadium 1, the 3rd arena master (forgot his name) had a Raichu with Surfer, which, of course, was really badass. Otherwise, it would be just too easy...

you had to trade your pikachu to Pokemon Stadium for the N64 and then beat the special water tournament with the pikachu, and then when you trade him back to your gameboy, he will know surf

k first get pkmn yellow, and level up your pokemon alot (80's are GREAT!) then import them into pokemon stadium with the n64 transfer pack. Beat the gym leaders and Mewtwo with this team, and dont use the rentals. After defeating mew2, the game will ask if you wish to teach pikachu surf.
