This is a father that cares deeply, how can the mother stand by and see this happen. What possible reason for vindictiveness has led to courts decision for refusing access? Parents who neglect their children receive all adequate support, yet this man has to suffer indignities for loving his children. Standing up for your rights as a parent should not be a criminal offence. It is a platform for those who ignore with their arrogant domination.

Prison for giving his children Christmas presents

In 2000, a judge sentenced a father to four months in prison for giving his children Christmas presents during a scheduled contact meeting, in breach of the court order.

The Ministry of Justice does not comment on individual prisoners.

However, it issued a statement on general food refusal.

A multi-disciplinary approach to managing those refusing food is encouraged, and healthcare staff should be involved at an early stage in order to assess the prisoner's physical and mental health, the statement said.

Defending, Marion Smullen said it was an unusual case because Hibbert had not contested much of the evidence but still denied the charges.

She said: "But what Mr Hibbert is saying is that because he was desperate, because he felt he had nowhere to turn he felt he had to get publicity for his family court case.

The costume-clad campaigner claimed he feared for his life on the gantry after a police officer threatened to shoot him.

He claimed he became desperate after spending £54,000 unsuccessfully attempting to gain access to his daughter who he had not seen since August 2007.

Prosecuting, Fiona Horlick said that on August 15 last year, the property developer ( Geoff Hibbert ) was dropped off by an unknown friend by the motorway gantry where he scaled an unlocked ladder and unfurled three banners.

LAWYERS representing the M25 protest father from Farnborough have confirmed they are considering lodging an appeal against his conviction.

Geoffrey Hibbert, who is said to be on hunger strike at Wormwood Scrubs prison, was remanded in custody on Thursday after being convicted

He is due to be sentenced on July 16 and is currently behind bars at Wormwood Scrubs.

But his solicitors, Jung & Co, are considering putting in an appeal and a bail application pending the appeal.
