They actually sort of hibernate. Their breathing and heart rate slows down i think. I read they may twitch when coming out of hibernation. Warm touch and petting may wake them up. Otherwise they will keep sleeping.

have you been bathing it? there not supposed to be bathed. hamsters can get alot of different sicknesses and infections from water also the oil on it's fur, you really shouldn't bathe it there bodies were not built to to be bathed often it looks like thats the problem.

Hamsters need lots of bedding yo make it a warm dark little hidey hole as this what they'd do in the wild. This is why some try to make a bed in the wheel as its a smaller space and feels safe. :) you can buy little houses to put in their cage.
