He gets lift off of front paws with excitement and plops himself back to toes or sometimes when he wants a treat and he will go all the way down on elbows...always very happily and to my utter enjoyment :) Pug owners uderstand

I find it funny to read that people are concerned for the dog's discomfort. Why, if this dog would be unhappy, uncomfortable or whatever .. Why is he not keeping his tail between his legs? For all I see he is wagging his tail. For all I know, tail-wagging is a sign of happiness and enthusiasm. Correct me if I'm wrong ^^

@MaartenQuick Well, tail wagging may also be a sign of fear or anxiety (when dog strangers first meet) but this seems to be the classic case of "yay, the human is talking to me so i'm talking back!" dog singing. My dog has a special high enthusiastic barking for when we take her out on picnics and a distinctive howl for when we get home from work. I just love how that makes her sound like a crazy person :P
