Kennedy didn't a have "chat" with Khrushchev as Obama said...Kennedy told Khrushchev to remove the missiles in Cuba or we launch now, thereby obverting WW3. Kennedy had guts. Obama is a wuse. McCain will be strong against world threats.
To call it a "chat" was glib, but to say Kennedy delivered an ultimatum to the Soviets is an inaccurate oversimplification. There were days of delicate negotiations, and the U.S. offered something in return for Soviet withdrawal, i.e., assurances they would not invade Cuba. Kennedy and Khrushchev used diplomacy to avoid a catastrophic military confrontation. That's not weak. It's smart.
My liberal friend, of course it's an over simplification. This is youtube. but make no mistake about it. It was more of an ultimatum than you realize. We were on the brink of continental inhalation. At some point during the diplomacy an decision has to be made and that decision was based on military might.
Point being, sometimes diplomacy works and sometimes it doesn't. Obama wants to "talk" to the terrorist...that's laughable. They don't WANT to talk to us. They want to KILL us.
Huh? McCain probably would have done better with proper medical care, but it was a *plane crash* that caused his severe arm injuries. I used to be proud to call myself a Republican, but it disgusts me that most seem content with half-truths these days.
that was a rhetorical ass whipping. right or wrong, most of obamas positions are very popular, and mccains are not. add to that obama talks circles around the guy and it doesnt look good for mccain.

That's a key: Republicans are afraid, of everything, and want us to be afraid. Frightened bullies. Bush has it stamped all over him. Clinton and Obama are much stronger people.
On the policies and on the issues, Obama is going to tear McCain limb from limb. McCain has to defend Bush's horrible war and economy, and it's becoming clear that he not really on top of it enough to even do that well. The Republicans only shot is to appeal to people's fears and prejudices, and this is not the year for that to work. People are pissed, and Obama is not going to let himself be swiftboated this time.
Iran is a country whose defense spending is less than 1% of our own; spends less on its military than countries such as the Netherlands and Sweden; has never invaded another country in modern history, and could not possibly threaten us
I like it that both the Dem candidates have turned to the true enemy, John McCain. It's time for his free ride to stop. Despite his reputation, McCain is very ignorant of foreign affairs - he can't even remember who is who in Iraq without Traitor Joe @ his elbow feeding him reminders. His refusal to talk to Iran is stupid & naive, and only serves to demonstrate how completely he has sold out to the whole neocon agenda. Real leaders can nullify our enemies w/ diplomacy, weaklings need bombs.
Yeah, Barack burned him bad, anyone but a total GOP tool could see that. Facts are a bitch sometimes. Iran is, relative to the USSR, a fucking joke. Iran, for all the bluster, knows 110% that the US could end the ancient Persian people if it came to blows. There is no MAD- mutually assured destruction, only AD- Assured destruction with Iran.
The reason why John McBush is so afraid to talk to the enemy is that neither McCain nor Bush has the intellectual capacity to be able to reason with anyone... a conversation with the Iranians would do nothing but make the Iranians feel that they have an intellectual advantage over America.
Did we see a sliver of McCain's famous temper? It did make him a little scarier, but it also made him more embarrassingly wrong when Obama 1-upped him.
I thought it was the VC-imposed stress positions that caused the arm injury, but it's been a while since I read the account.
What's truly incredible to me, as I'm trying to remember McCain's horrible ordeal, is that most of the techniques the VC used on him are not considered to be "torture" by the current administration.
I don't think the US is nearly as bad the VC was at all, but we've seem to have lost our moral compass. There is a well known case of a detainee who was deliberately left a bullet in a detainees leg by US intelligence. This is similar to McCain story or an original serious wound made worse by captors.

Josh Marshal has turned into the kind of journalist he used to mock. If Josh says it, you better check anything he says cause there is a good chance he is wrong or very biased. After tonight, Hillary will have won 4 of the last 6 primaries and in Josh's world that means Obama won. I used to go to his website daily++, but then he drank the orange(kos) kool-aid and it has not been the same since. Half truths and disinformation just like the msm/traditional media. I am so ashamed for him.
"I'm not afraid that we'll lose some propaganda fight with a dictator. It's time for America to win those battles because we've watched George Bush lose them year after year after year." OBAMA 2008!!!!
Sorry. I get rather testy these days about what I see as devaluation of truth and reason.

WRONG. The arm injuries that McCain experienced were caused when he bailed out of his aircraft prior to crashing.

Another four years of Bush/Cheney foreign policy under John McCain.

You're angry about your candidate and you're taking it out on other people.
If you weren't so invested in this race you'd see the mathematical inevitability too.
