It's weird, electric traps are forbidden in Sweden, only live catchers and mechanical drop/strangle devices are allowed besides rat poision (which is the MOST cruel in my opinion!). Rats caught "good" in mechanical device struggle for a good 10-30 secs before oxygen is depleted, but a good drop on the mouse/rat is not always guaranteed. The addition with electricity seems more "humane" to me.
