@TheNeveRight Planetary "alignments" are actually pretty far apart in position - it's more like the planets happen to be in the same 90-degree arc of sky or so as observed from Earth. The planets already "aligned" a couple of times before, recently (1983 and 2000), and nothing happened, so.

@TheNeveRight 2012 is actually supposed to be the time when the poles switch so that North will be South and South will be North; now that isn't such a big deal but our planets magnetic fields will be weaker than normal and the bad thing is is that at this time the sun will be in it's active 12 year cycle(every 12 years, actually I'm not sure if it's every 12 years, the sun goes through a dormant and active stage). There is really nothing to worry about though.
