  • Those who criticize obviously didn't see the real documentary. He was going slow in a lot of this footage because it was a demonstration for students. He is explaining as he is going along.

  • Elvis owned the school that is being used in this video. He loved the arts. He had Bill Wallace and Red West run his school in Memphis. Elvis trained with Ed Parker as well as Kang Rhee and others.

He got hooked on the Martial Arts while in the Army. He was in to it before it was cool. He would have demonstrations on his movies sets in the 60's. He was in the process of producing a documentary on Martial Arts.

  • Well look - i'm in the same boat, my dad did'nt call my sister Lisa Marie for nothing! I loved all his movies growing up - but it's an old rock and roll story at this stage. I have nothing against the man - but there has to be honesty - I think at one point he was good - but it wasn't his calling - the singing was - so enjoy that and the image - but just know the real bits - none of us are perfect. He was just a man afterall.

  • Gyűlölöm a Rappet!!De nagyon....

  • Ez dal egy Elvist gyalázó szar.Utálom a rappet.Mindent ami a Rap kategóriához köthető,nem tartok igazi zenének, csak majom parádénak,többnek sem....

Szeretem Elvist,de a Rappet engyántalán nem szeretem....

  • This video,is Unsimpatyc of me.I just unliked all.

I love Elvis, but to this video is hurting for Elvis.....

Elvis is the king....And that Rap,one big shit.....I just hating all Rap categories.

The Rap is not trully music, one monkey parade. Not tou matter....

  • I hate to the Rap!!So!

  • GOD BLESS YOU,DEAR ELVIS!!!!

  • Reporter:"What do you do for relaxation"

    Elvis:"I kick people's ass"

  • Elvis is so tired in 2.40-2.44 :(

  • Don't kill him Elvis 2.16-2.35 xDDDD

  • AWESOME..thats Elvis!!!!

  • Elvis had to be the baddest ass to get on stag .. that's for sure!!! 7th degree in Kempo!!!

  • @Coolrockndad Yeah, but he got GIVEN those grades - he did'nt EARN them - because that is real bad Kenpo - Pity, had a lot of respect for him until I saw this - the yes men lied to him and they're still doing it today.

  • @omurchu12 So you are implying Elvis didn't earn even a 1st degree. If not then what degree did he earn?

  • @Coolrockndad Damned if I know - all I can say is - as a student myself - If I was that bad - I'd pack it in - go check out Ed Parker or anyone on here that's doing Kenpo and tell me Elvis is beter than them - maybe he did get a 1st degree - but the standards must have been pretty poor in those days! As for his 7th well look I ahve seen where Rhee openly says Elvis asked for a 7th degree because the number 7 had a special meanng for him.. It's sad really and terrible(by him) Kenpo.

  • @omurchu12 I guess the fact that Elvis would be good publicity for the sport gave them a reason to be liberal with belt awards to Elvis.>>> Meaning they both used each other, Elvis and the sport.

  • @Coolrockndad I totally agree! They sure did, It's a pity - I'd had a lot more respect for the guy had he EARNED those belts - Oh well another idol with feet of clay....

  • @omurchu12 What other idol with feet of cay? The only other one I can think of and not even close to Elvis was Dave Clark of "The Dave Clark 5" who had a black belt of some type if I remember correctly. I need names. ; )

  • @Coolrockndad I was being rhetorical mate - although - Dave Lee Roth was a real deal Black Belt - remember rhat video to JUMP? - And one of the Black-Eyed-Peas is in some form of Kung-Fu - as to how well he is - buggered if I know - probably better than Elvis- though that wouldn't be hard!

  • @omurchu12 Damn, thanks, I forgot about David Lee Roth and I love Van Halen but I still can't see Elvis getting all the way up to and including a 7th degree without knowing or being worth a 3rd or 4th degree. Oh well but I do know Elvis had some gun collection. : )

  • @Coolrockndad I hate to say this mate , but I read in an Elvis book that Rhee was asked by Elvis to give him a 7th dan because the number 7 had special significance to Elvis - Rhee says he was'nt as good as other 7th dans but he trousered 50000 dollars back in the 70's - that would be a lot more today - as for the 7th/8th in Kenpo - look I got instructors from 2nd all the way to 10th dan they are ALL laughing at this, He was awarded them - as opposed to grading for them - sorry!

  • @omurchu12 No need to be sorry for I often wondered about what belt Elvis legitimately should have had. Be it a 2nd, 3rd or what ever as opposed to a 7th degree.

Rhee say's he not as good as the other 7's what does that really mean then? Not as good, almost as good ... just wondering what would be your guess as to what belt Elvis really should have been rated at ?

  • @Coolrockndad My guess is he graded for his Black - of course when you have the Chief instructor of the syle as your teacher and you keep buying him cars and his missus an 11000 dollar mink coat - you have to wonder at the impartiality of said teacher - he is no 7th or 8th - look at Dave Hebler the guy in the black Gi - look at his speed and precision - now compare that to Elvis - poor posture - no speed - grimacing for some reason - Red pulling his punches - it's all sad

  • @omurchu12 All things put aside, money, gifts, etc. what would a legitimate grade for Elvis be? Would it be 1st degree, 2nd degree, 3rd degree? I don't mean to belabor the point but I would like to know from someone who seems to have good knowledge of the sport and that someone is you. : )

  • @Coolrockndad I would think probaby 1st degree - there is a crowd called tracykenpo google their website on it I found this; "... He (Presley) qualified for 1st degree black belt in 1960 in Memphis with the late Hank Slemansky, a Chito-ryu stylist. Slemansky was killed on active duty in Vietnam sometime in the mid 1960s." and that's all!

  • @Coolrockndad I would think probaby 1st degree - there is a crowd called tracykenpo google their website on it I found this; "... He (Presley) qualified for 1st degree black belt in 1960 in Memphis with the late Hank Slemansky, a Chito-ryu stylist. Slemansky was killed on active duty in Vietnam sometime in the mid 1960s." and that's it - it takes a mininum of 3 yrs for each dan - so 7x3=21 which means if he was legit 1981 was when he would have earned an 8th or '79 his 7th. He died in'77.

  • @omurchu12 Yes, I always thought the math didn't add up. I thank you very much for you input.

77-21= 1956 and Elvis didn't get into martial arts till he was in the army which was 1958.

  • @Coolrockndad It's a shame really - but as you said - the teachers and Elvis mutually benefited from their asociation - and of course - having Elvis on your books would have been a bonus for any business, and let's not forget, it was to those guys. Well Elvis would have been a prodigy in Martial Arts to make 8th in 18 years - my Grand Master made 10th in 35 years - so there you go - something just does'nt add up not for that level of ability.

  • @omurchu12 I love Elvis's music and image but this does say a lot about a person who would want something without working for it as well as the people that would let that happen. Yes it is a shame. : (

  • @Coolrockndad I should mention - you can grade for a belt - that is be examined on your knowledge of a system - and also in that do some fights - just to show your abilities - it's controlled so you don't tear the head off your mates in a club but it can be semi - or full contact! OR you can be awarded your belts - sort of like when you see someone famous get an honourary degree yet they didn't do the four years learning. They get it for 'services rendered' or in Elvis's case CASH!

  • @Coolrockndad I still say Elvis was the baddest ass that hit the music stage. : )

  • @Coolrockndad I would'nt argue with that!

  • @omurchu12 OK then who was or is. Don't hit and run without adding some ones name. ; )

  • @omurchu12 How do you know?

  • @bdkage I found a copy of his Blue belt cert of rank - meaning he graded - was tested - for blue belt in August '74 - in Kenpo - Parker - who also gave him honorary ranks in Kenpo - signed that one too - He was also with Rhee ONLY from '70 - '74 and in '73 Rhee made EP 7th because EP asked him to - you can't go from beginner to 7th degree Black in 3 years mate - you'd be lucky to make 1st degree - but you'd want to be a LOT better than EP ever was - here he's awful bad. Blue sounds right.

  • kurrrrva jóóóó ez a szám

    :DDDDD

  • Id love to see the full video of elvis doing the kung fu instruction with out any music he seems to be talking to the other students , is it possible to find it on youtube.

  • @davidcurtin1 That's Kenpo he's making a right mess of - not Kung Fu - he never did that in his life - but as for this- that's seriously BAD Kenpo - Pity He was an awesome performer - but there are green belts that could do this better, those drugs he took must have really been screwing with him

  • Elvis - the man whow does everything in his own style.

  • ha ha "what do you do for relaxation?" "KARATE!"
