He just had an air of arrogance around him and the fact that he killed Rorschach when he was going to do the "right" thing is infuriating. Him and his damn blue dick should've just stayed away.
this song brings up so many memories and feelings of pain and misery that i've felt over time but it is just a beautiful song and words cant really explain it.
When I first heard this on Watchmen, I was completely amazed by its beauty. The song sounds sad, yet at the same time it comforts me. And I'm not surprised that the wonderful Phillip Glass is the genius behind the song. I love the music he provided for Candyman.
@Llama212ify I understand where you're coming from, Veidt's the prick you say he is, however I'm not certain that Manhattan can be judged as harshly. He's so detached from human reality he can hardly interact with people, he's almost like a child. It seems harsh to call him a douch (though I am able to appreciate the sentiments) Manhattan's detachment came accross alot better in the comic.
This song makes he think of super powers in general. The sheer idea of the superhuman in all of it's complexity, fantasy and terror.
Simply put, If you possessed abilities that no one else had. If you and you alone could do things that are impossible for any other person, how would others react? Would humanity act out of fear, wonder or anger towards something that could no longer be classified as a human?
@Apollomasque I would enslave the human race no doubt about it, crush any chance of a feeble rebellion by destroying the world leaders in public. Then, exact my immature schoolboy revenge on the world, vaporizing who i saw fit. Human sacrifices, my own religion, daily mass murder that kind of crazy stuff.
But I'm serious. Would you really do that? Could you really be that complete of a monster? Or would you feel benevolence as opposed to urges for selfish gratification? Think about it.
@Apollomasque Yes, yes I would raze hospitals and orphanages at the slightest provocation without any form of guilt because like the good doctor, I would have evolved beyond it. I thought hard about your two comments and I can say thats what I would do. As for benevolence, it would only serve to be a burden.
Then may someone like you never know any kind of power, or hold anyone under your sway.
And for the record, Jon wasn't beyond benevolence or beyond malevolence, he simply considered both to be inconsequential. It was guilt that had him return to earth after realizing that he had abandoned Human Life.
@Apollomasque At first I would be overwhelmed by having powers. I would probably lay low and just continue life as normal, using them to show off and when I must. If I was more like a god though...I would be neutral since that's my alignment, naturally. I have no problem killing bad people though. It also depends if I can travel throughout the universe. If only....but real life sucks ass and there aren't any ways to gain actual powers. Depressing...
@Apollomasque If I possessed abilities no one else had, like Dr Manhattan, I would probably act as god over mankind, rarely interfering and when doing so, leaving little or no trace that I had. I think that to try and exact any false reality through force would be futile and useless. I think that the survival of the human race would be my primary concern, in what ever form it had evolved into.

@stevemoneymaker From when people, who admire music are conisdered to have been using somekind of drugs? Drugs points to stupidity, so such assertions are absurdly idiotic, stereotypical myths without any of strong basis.
The song is absolutely beautiful, simplicity and harmony are the main keys of it. Music for thought. Food for the mind.
@danielodors Prove it. I guess, you're the one that justifies drug use.
Using drugs to see how wonderful the life or world is? I say that's pathetic. I'm not the one who say "Ban the drugs!". Use it if you like, but that doesn't change the fact that I consider that to be pathetically stupid. I've seen how people act, when they were on drugs
@Justas923 And I've seen how people act when they're not on drugs. And you know what the simple fact of the matter is? It doesn't really matter at all. I've just as rational intelligent conversations as I've had with people dead sober with people fucked up beyond all belief on god knows what. You are pathetic for blindly stereotyping something. "I've seen how people act, when they were on drugs." Tells me all I need to know about your drug habits. I bet you've been seen doing dumber things drunk
@Justas923 - Prove it? Well, it's discrimination. It's actually disgusting seeing how you can point out a stereotype, and then hypocritically perpetuate another one yourself. Want to know what the most widely used psychoactive drug in the world is? It's caffeine, in the form of coffee. I've used it to help me push through a long night. It's easy to discriminate, so I understand. That's why it's a myth.
@danielodors Uh, offended I see. I say, grow up. Plus, I don't drink coffee myself, nor use, caffein, but I do use alchohol, so in a sense, I'm stupid. But that's not the point. The point is, as you completely failed to understand, is subjectivity and the stereotype, that people, who admires music or something must be high or affected by a drug
@Justas923 Now, to make things clear. The understanding of wonder, complexity and wastness of Universe, biological structures of life and the fundimental things of reality without a rational conclussion, but with an emotional stimulation of artificially synthesiesed substances (aka. the drugs), to me, is stupid, as also the notion and stereotype that people, who are making art, must be on drugs which is a ridicilous idea
@Justas923 Nobody insinuated that stereotype though. The guy who said it was obviously speaking ironically about how people "feel" more when they are under the influence of drugs and was playing with that notion in a really simple way. You just went a little mad and took everything far too literally and miserably. He tried to make a joke. Leave it at that.
@AaronCooper123 Here's a joke, and I truly dare anyone to leave it at that. A man comes upon a farmhouse where a man and his wife and son live. He walks up to the door, and knocks in the middle of supper. The man of the house answers the door, and seeing the stranger, asks the man who is and if he can help him. The strange man ask if he would like to play a game. He asks the strange man what game.
@thehindmost88 The strange man smashes in the farmers nose, and kicks out his knees caps. He then walks over to the dinner table towards the screaming son and wife, and pushing the wife away, picks up the farmer's son by his head, and feet dangling in the air, snaps his neck. He then smacks the farmer's wife across the face, and throws her on the table, raping her as the farmer watches. The strange man then slits her throat, and walks over to the farmer.
@thehindmost88 All the farmer can do as he stares at the strange man holding a knife to his throat is ask "Why?". The strange man replies, before slitting his throat: "We were playing a game, I win."
@n809n Your comment is stupid, *let's his hand slide up your chin, removing the hair from your ear with a passionated move, and gently whispers "suck my balls"*
@Zalwio look just go and get a life.please.oh,and before I forget stop with the comments like yours on this great video from the best movie ever.*flicks you off*
@GradyIsEpic *I take my hand and slowly I let it slide down your chest, across your stomach. I stop just before I reach a narrow corridor, formed by your thigs. And my head implodes!* O.o
BTW, My speakers almost exploded from the beauty of sound, It is and unvisualized art. We will never understand the true meaning of the things we create, so lets STFU and enjoy this.
I don't know what to do with my life. I heard this, I decided not to ask the questions.instead I will find an answer that matches the question. Until then, time is in motion yet stopped. This may only pertain to me, or have nothing to do with me. These arn't questions, they are not awnswers. They are not statements. They are the nonexistent truth.
I worked at a media exhibition in Amsterdam in September, there was an audio stand across the aisle with some gnarly sound setup. The night before the show doing their sound checks they used this piece, I had to go and ask what it was because I recognized it from Watchmen. It filled the hall, crystal clear quality. All the other people working looked bewildered. It was awesome.
@n809n That comment got 73 likes? I just don't understand why some people like some Youtube comments. Plus Dr Manhattan doesn't even say that line, I think its Rorschach. Very good piece of music though.
@n809n it's true, I once gave up masturbating instead of eating for fasting and it worked dramatically. I'm quite a stoner, but I like reading Buddhism too and it's just one of the best mindsets ever.
"They claim their labours are to build a heaven. Yet their heaven is populated with horrors. Perhaps the world isn't made. Perhaps nothing is made. A clock without a craftsman" This piece just suits Jon perfectly. It's perfect for the whole film. Incredible.
"I am standing on a fire escape in 1945, reaching out to stop my father, take the cogs and flywheels from him, piece them all together again..but its too late, always has been, always will be too late."
it started as manhattan and TURNED INTO FUCKING RORSCHACH.
I always did think Rorschach was an animation of Manhattan's darkest side, and thus when Manhattan learned to let him go on he vanquished this shackling creation.
And Rorscach's remains on the ground are a way to mark the spot where this animation of a man's dark side burned itself away and into the fresh ground of the mind. A permament Rorschach figure, unmoving now, in time. Like his maker.
I love this movie so much and the soundtrack so much that I won't read any of the comments because there will be people saying the movie was not good >=)

Incredible.

@n809n whoa dude you had two characters there
it started as manhattan and TURNED INTO FUCKING RORSCHACH.
