no actually ur wrong about that the veil is a cultural thing and egypt is a secular country so its the peoples choice if they veil themselve or not

Yes but, in egypt a woman would feel vey uncomfortable with no veil in public now, but they would feel comfortable, say, 20 years ago, many older egyptian women don't like their daughters wearing it as they didn't when they were young.

Thats right, in the '70 the islamic world/society was more tolerant than nowadays. In Teheran, Kabul and Bagdad girls were free to wear whatever they wanted and for instance a miniskirt at the university was not uncommon. According to some historians it is an up and down thing, and things will get better in the future again.
