  • Meus vita , haud desiderium

Is anyone able to tell me what this means? And if it is grammatically correct.

  • @yeolstrat It means "My life, not (my) desire". It's not grammatically correct; it should read "Mea vita, haud desiderium".

  • You are here and your mentor is Nakita.

  • Thir girl is the most annoying thing on youtube! Go home, stop speaking latin!

  • @lisamanelli Abs te dissentio. licet mutabilis sit Fortuna, est (in hoc saltem spectaculo) admodum bellula.

  • My greatest interest is to know how the different varieties of vulgar Latin were spoken over the Roman Empire, but that's probably hard to say...

  • Wow, great to find this here on You Tube. 'The Consolation of Philosophy" is one of my favorite books btw. :-)

  • lingua Latina nobis discenda est. Says Croat.

  • Gotta love the combination of accents, but thoroughly authienctic. If someone hates this video... needs to have education.

  • lingua Latina pulcherrima est!

  • Ita vero!!

  • In Italy the latin is obligatory to learn in secondary school.

  • Notice this: in this video, the language they speak is a combination: classical Latin and a vulgar language, especially, the guard saying, eggiannunc edo with Italic vowel length and ggia sound, unlike etiam nunc edo. From iam came gia'. Add to this, the English accent, arguebly a small amount.

  • Yep. I also caught some heavy ecclesiastic pronunciation in there too.

  • But in ecclesiastical Latin, etiam nunc is not pronounced as eggiannunc, but as etsiam nunc. Eggiamnunc is a non-literary way of pronnouncing Latin, while Ecclesiastical Latin came from a form of Late Classical Latin. Just for the sace of technicality. Ita vero, quod mirabilius dicere multas giamque pronunziatziones!

  • WTF?

    Are you an idiot? Spaghettifresser?????

    LOL, Deppkopp!

  • Melius quam "krautenfresser".

  • what does "Et Incarnatus Est" means?

  • "and he incarnated", or "he was incarnated"

  • Incarnatus est is a 4th principal part and passive so it would be

    'And have been incarnated'

  • Yep, I'm forgetting all the latin I learnt at school xD

  • i took latin for my foreign language my sophomore year but i didnt learn very much and im afraid ill forget over the summer does anyone know any good virtual or online courses?

  • You find on Google the books of Dr.Lucian Iosif Cuesdean by clicking this name and you'll see that Romanian was the first language of Europe,Latin being a derivate of it.Romanian is written 4000 years ago by the Vedic Sanscrit.

  • intellego fere omnia id bene esse nam habebo pensum latinum propinqua die

  • "Petendumst" with the pronunciation of the m NEVER EVER occurred, but instead a nasalised vowel [petendũ(:)st]. The final m was never fully pronounced with the lips, however, this video depicts the VI century AD, a time of hypercorrections which led to the medieval use of the full pronunciation of m. The word DONVM was commonly written as DONV, DONO, OR DONOM in older inscriptions, but pronounced ['do:nũ:]. The video depicts scaenae from CONSOLATIO PHILOSOPHIAE.

  • EGGIANNVNC EDO!!! Ortoraphice: etjamnunc edo, vel ETIAMNVNC EDO. Cicero dicebam: [ett'yannunc 'edo:] si possetis legere phoneticam alphabetamque. Verbum "gia'" in Italiano et "ya" in Hispanica venint e verbo "iam" in Classica Latina lingua. In saeculo VI post Christvm natvm, errores sint: TERTIVS ERAT SCRIPTVS "TERTZVS" ATQVE TERZV, SI ERAT NOMEN. Pronunciatios hoc nomen erat ['terts(i)u(s)]. Ego possvm dicere DE lingva Latina IN lingua Latina! ;)

  • Volui scribere "pronuntiatius". Id error non malepronuntiationem significat, autem!

  • non omnia verba intellegere possum

  • Habent enim anglica accente atque proto-romanicamque, id est praedecessor Italianae linguae. Eggiannunc edo!

  • it sounds like a mix of spanis and italian

  • YES FELLOW LATIN SPEAKERS!!!

Quae haec verba non intellegere stultus est!

Those who cannot understand these words are stupid. ~William H. Snyder

  • mm This sentence is incorrect, sunt should be used if a plural subject is utilized. Furthermore a form of possum should be used if a "can, able" definition is desired.

  • Speaking to the William H. Snyder quote, qaqa's sentence is perfect! :D

  • im sure he had it right when he told it to me...its just the process of my continuing it without a mistake somewhere is next to impossible...he is the smartest person i know.

  • If any of u guys wanna practice Latin with me, just pay me a visit...:)))

    Cheers!!!

    Expecto vos!!!

An old man who claims to work for a university said my text in the German forum is bullsh... and he made that Latin quotation. Well, what does it man, anyway. I was taught that if you quote in Latin you provide the translation. Thanks for you help!
