Dude this is awesome, I personally, If I took the time to learn this, would use more pedal. But still its very impressive, great work. How old are you ?
Excellent job, though there are many places where you don't let the phrase flow throw unscathed, non the less, Gorgeous performance of the Beethoven Great!

omg...just fukin AWESOME hahahahha, seriously, thts sick. think tempo is fine, except hardly any dynamics...but still a great play ! cheers for that :)
I just watched a few interpretations of this piece including Horowitz. It sounds like everybody is a ripoff of somebody else but most likely, it appears that way because that very interpretation is what feels natural while playing this piece. besides everyone who plays this piece is a ripoff of Beethoven.
well, back to what's important. you really wish you were him.
Let's see you post a response of you playing the piece better? I certainly couldn't, and even if I could, I wouldn't be so disparaging and negative about such a clearly talented young player.
I have to clarify, yes, to be able to play the Appassionata at his age is highly encouraging. It is a technically difficult piece and it's fantastic to see someone so young playing it with technical accuracy, but technical accuracy is only the first step. In a performance situation, the notes come second to the performance. I didn't buy the performance.
Not really, I mean, yeah, I wish I could play the Appassionata, but I'm not a pianist. What I am, though, is a musician who knows a good version of Beethoven from a mediocre one. Yes, it would be folly to expect a good version of the Appassionata from an amateur (semi-pro? I don't know his background) musician, but I do have the musical sense to see when someone is copying someone elses interpretation. A practice common among inexperienced musicians playing such difficult pieces.
Has a long... long way to go. In my honest opinion the reaction this is getting is because the piece is a work of genius and gorgeous to listen to, not the interpretation or execution.
That's complete rubbish. He plays it extremely well and his interpretation deserves nothing other than praise. And saying that this is a ripoff of Horowitz's interpretation- as if he is the only person in the world to have to right to play it that way, and that everyone has to invent their own unique style- is just contemptible really.
The same piece can (often should) sound completely different when played by two different people.
This isn't a "unique style" as you put it, this is musical interpretation. The bringing out of certain melodic and harmonic notes, emphasis on chords, the treatment of the dissonance passages in the piece. The dissonance at 2:40 and the subsequent passage was glided over with no thought to what Beethoven was doing. Anyone who knows Beethoven and knows this piece will tell you this.
It's not uncommon for 2 people to emphasize the same parts due to the structure of a piece.
It's easy to sit comfortably on the other side and criticize something that you haven't put any work into. You didn't just criticize his playing, you also jumped to conclusions about Horowitz and didn't make any positive comments and there are plenty to choose from. That's what makes your criticism useless and a bit insulting. If you're not a pianist then you should try to be at least a good critic.
...my comment hasn't been posted obviously, so I just sum up what I had to say:
First, I haven't heard or seen any recording of Horovitz of this piece... So I guess I'm disappointing you. Maybe it's coincidence, but if you're not a very good listener, this piece is likely to sound very similar from different pianists.
I admit, that there was still a lot of work to do, so why don't you check out my "newer" version (headvideo in my channel), and tell me what you think?
OK, you sayed anybody who knows Beethoven will tell him that, well, I'm here to say that I'm a concert pianist, and you know what? If the song doesn't sound like another person did, than you're saying thousands of others have to change how THEY play, just to make it unique? Thats utter nonsense. Also, ITS THE SAME SONG!!!!! Of course it'll sound close to the same thing! I play this peice, and you should just close your mouth and lock it forever, becuase nobody is listening to you!
still fighting with technique. When she matures it she will worry about dynamics, tempos, expression and stuff. anyway, left hand a bit slow. she needs to practice pozzolli. actually she plays all notes (most) and shows she can read a score.
I agree the tempo is fine. It is exactly the same as the Jenö Jandó version I have. I don't know why people comment about the tempo. Even when you listen to various professional recording there are always differences.
agree, but it to make it professional needs detail of dynamic contrasts in it and idea's for shaping the drama of the themes more. But's its damn excellent.
Ohh Great!!! I love this sonata and you play it amazingly well!! You put passion that's more important than making a mistake or missing a note!! Bravo!!
Look carfully the score you forgot some A flats at the left hand... Really its a nice work but you dont support technically all of it (changes at the tempo) but eventually after a year you must be over these problems...
Very, very! well played. I am working on this piece too ( no not like 2 days, more like half a year now ) and I know how annoying it can be.. But you played it like a pro..( P.S. in my opinion it sounds better with more pedal )
WOAH, this is played almost as well as one of the professionals would play it! It sounds great, especially on that piano. Thats really good, you have a bright future, how old are you? Thats really good!
It was my first version, you're right... In November 07 I played it 3 times in concert, the whole Appassionata. I'll upload it as soon as I can to see what you think.
do u play the third and movements to the moonlight sonata? i really like the appassionata 3rd mvt, tempest 1 and 3, and moonlight 1 and 3, but i only know how to play the moonlight 1 and 3 =(. great performance btw =O
Passages (i.e. fingers) uneven. Try the soft (left) pedal. Requires more contrast. Don't take repetitions as annoyances; they need to be different. Spend another year on this piece trying to understand it.
Quite a lot of basic work needs to be done still. Mark not applicable here as I'll assume this is not your 'final' version.
It takes FAR BEYOND the basic to be able to play the Appassionata Sonata. If you completed Cerny The Art of Finger Dexterity Op 740 you very barely scratch its surface.I agree there are some uneven passage here but I don't agree your comment about the "repetition".
is this your private piano or a teachers? It has a great sound. It seems to be a vintage piano. By that i mean something from around 1900-1930ish. It could be a modern piano styled like that period, but i suspect not. . . what size is it?
I think he is not using so much pedal but reverb of the room is huge... you hear lower the left hand because the microphone is located at the right of the piano. anyway this boy is dressed is lovely! the only thing I can say is he is going a bit faster in some parts. VERY GOOD! :D
Technically good. Minor flaws, too much pedal, right hand consistently louder than left so you lose the back-n-forth of the melodic line, wearing a sweatshirt and you're sweating by the cadenza, way too much tension and effort. You're trying to conquer Beethoven, can't do it. Give you an A-.
I play the piano too, but not as well as you, your interpretation is perfect! Don't stop to work and in few years you will play in the greatests concert hall...
bro this isntt even funnyy lol do you have sheet music for this bc i cant seem to findd itt....but i givee mad props to you bro lol that was treally good im seriously impressed and its hard to impress me.
I listen a lot to prokofiev at the moment, but chopin as well. Actually I don't like particular composers, I just have my favourite pieces which I'm listening to a lot...
Your technical is very good but my only complaint about your interpretation is that you keep the speed going near the beginning but when you get to the sixteenth runs on the right hand, it starts to drag. I know it's hard but, nonetheless, a very decent performance.
hey. Great job! I really love this 3rd movement. Appassionata is really impressing. The only beethoven's movement i can play is moonlight 1rst :p. Anyway, well done, keep playing!
Prodigies are great at music, chess, and math. Other areas also, but those are the top ones. I have great talent laying on the couch and watching TV. Sometimes I use 3 remote controls at the same time.
it would be such a waste if you don't become a pianist!you are brilliant, incredible!why can't you become a pianist?i would definitely be your nr.1 fan :)
This page is for comments refering to this guys playing, not racism. 'Merde vous'? Are you kidding? Practise your french. Y supersmashmike, deja al pendejo ese ygygyg que se hable solo. Habla a lo pendejo, no te rebajes a su nivel.YGYGYGYG Spanish does not come from Mexico, It comes from Spain, which is in Europe. It looks like you are the one with no culture.
for an average pianists like us, your interpretation is fine. not bad at all. i wouldn't want to compare you to Kissin 'coz that would be so stupid. lol. - from haydnesque@ yahoo. com
however, in your efforts to perfect the technique i think your missing alot of the more important details- like DYNAMICS!- Dynamics help make music so very effective for the listener.
also u need to play the right hand passages mm220- more martellato- or hammered.. that would be most effective!
But overall, like i said brilliant technique, but now make it MUSIC!
Can ANYONE tell me how long it takes to learn this? 1 week? 1 month?......1 year?

Habla a lo pendejo, no te rebajes a su nivel.YGYGYGYG Spanish does not come from Mexico, It comes from Spain, which is in Europe. It looks like you are the one with no culture.

for an average pianists like us, your interpretation is fine. not bad at all. i wouldn't want to compare you to Kissin 'coz that would be so stupid. lol. - from haydnesque@ yahoo. com

brilliant technique!
however, in your efforts to perfect the technique i think your missing alot of the more important details- like DYNAMICS!- Dynamics help make music so very effective for the listener.
also u need to play the right hand passages mm220- more martellato- or hammered.. that would be most effective!
But overall, like i said brilliant technique, but now make it MUSIC!
