  • I realy realy liked your performens it has a lot of passion.I think you'll get eaven better in time

  • omg...just fukin AWESOME hahahahha, seriously, thts sick. think tempo is fine, except hardly any dynamics...but still a great play ! cheers for that :)

  • amazing°!

iam practising that piece at the moment, tempo is eprfect...maybe you could exagerate more the dynamics, but veeeery very good

  • I like this piano music, and may I make friend with you!?

  • Bravo o_o

  • I just watched a few interpretations of this piece including Horowitz. It sounds like everybody is a ripoff of somebody else but most likely, it appears that way because that very interpretation is what feels natural while playing this piece. besides everyone who plays this piece is a ripoff of Beethoven.

well, back to what's important. you really wish you were him.

  • Let's see you post a response of you playing the piece better? I certainly couldn't, and even if I could, I wouldn't be so disparaging and negative about such a clearly talented young player.

  • I have to clarify, yes, to be able to play the Appassionata at his age is highly encouraging. It is a technically difficult piece and it's fantastic to see someone so young playing it with technical accuracy, but technical accuracy is only the first step. In a performance situation, the notes come second to the performance. I didn't buy the performance.

  • Not really, I mean, yeah, I wish I could play the Appassionata, but I'm not a pianist. What I am, though, is a musician who knows a good version of Beethoven from a mediocre one. Yes, it would be folly to expect a good version of the Appassionata from an amateur (semi-pro? I don't know his background) musician, but I do have the musical sense to see when someone is copying someone elses interpretation. A practice common among inexperienced musicians playing such difficult pieces.

  • Has a long... long way to go. In my honest opinion the reaction this is getting is because the piece is a work of genius and gorgeous to listen to, not the interpretation or execution.

  • That's complete rubbish. He plays it extremely well and his interpretation deserves nothing other than praise. And saying that this is a ripoff of Horowitz's interpretation- as if he is the only person in the world to have to right to play it that way, and that everyone has to invent their own unique style- is just contemptible really.

  • The same piece can (often should) sound completely different when played by two different people.

This isn't a "unique style" as you put it, this is musical interpretation. The bringing out of certain melodic and harmonic notes, emphasis on chords, the treatment of the dissonance passages in the piece. The dissonance at 2:40 and the subsequent passage was glided over with no thought to what Beethoven was doing. Anyone who knows Beethoven and knows this piece will tell you this.

  • It's not uncommon for 2 people to emphasize the same parts due to the structure of a piece.

It's easy to sit comfortably on the other side and criticize something that you haven't put any work into. You didn't just criticize his playing, you also jumped to conclusions about Horowitz and didn't make any positive comments and there are plenty to choose from. That's what makes your criticism useless and a bit insulting. If you're not a pianist then you should try to be at least a good critic.

  • ...my comment hasn't been posted obviously, so I just sum up what I had to say:

First, I haven't heard or seen any recording of Horovitz of this piece... So I guess I'm disappointing you. Maybe it's coincidence, but if you're not a very good listener, this piece is likely to sound very similar from different pianists.

I admit, that there was still a lot of work to do, so why don't you check out my "newer" version (headvideo in my channel), and tell me what you think?

  • It seems you have taken the Richter approach for the tempo.

Very well played sir, I'm attempting the monster of a first movement myself.

  • VERY good playing! Always room for improovments, butgreat overall! ^_^ 5/5*

  • OK, you sayed anybody who knows Beethoven will tell him that, well, I'm here to say that I'm a concert pianist, and you know what? If the song doesn't sound like another person did, than you're saying thousands of others have to change how THEY play, just to make it unique? Thats utter nonsense. Also, ITS THE SAME SONG!!!!! Of course it'll sound close to the same thing! I play this peice, and you should just close your mouth and lock it forever, becuase nobody is listening to you!

  • wow you're talented.

  • still fighting with technique. When she matures it she will worry about dynamics, tempos, expression and stuff. anyway, left hand a bit slow. she needs to practice pozzolli. actually she plays all notes (most) and shows she can read a score.

  • "She"?!? Take a closer look, dude. Christoph is a guy...not a 'she'.

He's an excellent musician. Just wish he had more pieces uploaded.

  • that is true, i didn't figure

  • awsome work, there are some details like the tempo beeing a bit quick, you play a little to hard, but, really man, good job

  • very good but please get a better recording i would love to hear that

  • One of my favourite versions of this piece. The coda is fantastic and is inspiring! Excellent work.....

  • well, whats about playing piano?? you all play everything so hard and loud...try to play different, than it would be fine...

  • that's amazing!

  • i liked it

  • tempo seems a bit quick

but stupendous job nonetheless! : ]

  • what are you on about? the tempo is (more than) adequate!

  • I agree the tempo is fine. It is exactly the same as the Jenö Jandó version I have. I don't know why people comment about the tempo. Even when you listen to various professional recording there are always differences.

  • on the piano is played does not break

  • Comment removed

  • Sheer excellence.

  • i think that is wonderful/

  • im always excited to hear this guy play, such talent

  • Agreed with 'honkeynegro': I love playing this piece. Simply brilliant job; well done.

  • Dude, how old are you? That was amazing, it sounded just as good as a professional recording. Keep playing, great passion and talent.

  • really commendable (: just watch ur tempo at some bits though. still, great job!

  • can i have sex with you?

  • tell him whether you're a girl or boy first.

  • wow....wonderful..i like the way u play :)

  • Prima!!!!du bist ausgezeichneter Pianist!!!

  • Er ist gut! :)

Lmfao. I can speak german and english

  • *claps*

  • bloody amazing the one of the best non professional performances ive herd, period

  • agree, but it to make it professional needs detail of dynamic contrasts in it and idea's for shaping the drama of the themes more. But's its damn excellent.

  • great job but too much pedal. how long have u been working on it at this point?

  • Thanks for posting this--a lot of us can learn from your technique.

  • excellent technique. now do something with it.

  • congratulations, you have mastered one of the greatest pieces of all time.

    Bravo.

  • Ohh Great!!! I love this sonata and you play it amazingly well!! You put passion that's more important than making a mistake or missing a note!! Bravo!!

  • *agree* passion is everything

    he actually did it

  • wrong chord bar 68-68 Left hand

  • I love it!

I can play all three mvts of the moonlight, but this is so much more amazing

The only thing is you have amazing technical skill, no doubt about it, though I wonder if there is any passion?

    amazing!

  • mike sinoda toca mejor kes broma es la polla

  • amazing....congratz =)

  • Amazing!! You make the awy I play it sound boring hahaha

yeah I make the same mistakes playing it from memory, but its not noticeable.

  • absolutely amazing!!

  • Will someone PLEASE tell me what the average time is to learn this piece? Swallow your pride and be honest please.

  • How long have you been playing?

  • Look carfully the score you forgot some A flats at the left hand... Really its a nice work but you dont support technically all of it (changes at the tempo) but eventually after a year you must be over these problems...

  • would you like to tell us the measures or times when he left out the A flats?

  • Measures 69 and 71 the left hand changes from G 4 3 to Ddim

  • I think you're right, I didn't notice it because I do the same thing that he does...

  • awesome!!!!!!!!

  • Très bonne technique et surtout une grande sensibilité malgré votre jeune âge.

    Superbe.

    Shalom.

  • fantastic!!!what a nice work@@

  • wow, nice job! could please make a video showing how to play the first 42 seconds of this song? It would be awesome to learn how to play it.

  • Bravo!! 5 stars... i hope u consider a pinano performance carreer. u certainly have the talent

  • thats friggen crazy.

    well done ! =o

  • I only joined youtube to comment........

  • What is the average time to learn this piece?

  • I Want you piano!!!

  • Very, very! well played. I am working on this piece too ( no not like 2 days, more like half a year now ) and I know how annoying it can be.. But you played it like a pro..( P.S. in my opinion it sounds better with more pedal )

  • Very nice. Work on not rolling your wrists so much and less pedal. Good tempo, hardly a mistake.

  • congratulations!!! you're a great pianist! awesome perform of this difficult beethoven piece! 5 stars!

  • WOAH, this is played almost as well as one of the professionals would play it! It sounds great, especially on that piano. Thats really good, you have a bright future, how old are you? Thats really good!

  • Whats the best method to practise the Presto chords.

  • It was my first version, you're right... In November 07 I played it 3 times in concert, the whole Appassionata. I'll upload it as soon as I can to see what you think.

  • do u play the third and movements to the moonlight sonata? i really like the appassionata 3rd mvt, tempest 1 and 3, and moonlight 1 and 3, but i only know how to play the moonlight 1 and 3 =(. great performance btw =O

  • This is so well done. This is such a beautiful piece.

Just curious, how long does it take to learn? I would really like to know!

  • You are an angel of music!

  • Passages (i.e. fingers) uneven. Try the soft (left) pedal. Requires more contrast. Don't take repetitions as annoyances; they need to be different. Spend another year on this piece trying to understand it.

Quite a lot of basic work needs to be done still. Mark not applicable here as I'll assume this is not your 'final' version.

  • It takes FAR BEYOND the basic to be able to play the Appassionata Sonata. If you completed Cerny The Art of Finger Dexterity Op 740 you very barely scratch its surface.I agree there are some uneven passage here but I don't agree your comment about the "repetition".

  • Very nice and professional. You sound just like my CD.

  • play it slowly to try and gain control more and get more even semiquavers, but apart from that, very good

  • is this your private piano or a teachers? It has a great sound. It seems to be a vintage piano. By that i mean something from around 1900-1930ish. It could be a modern piano styled like that period, but i suspect not. . . what size is it?

  • I think he is not using so much pedal but reverb of the room is huge... you hear lower the left hand because the microphone is located at the right of the piano. anyway this boy is dressed is lovely! the only thing I can say is he is going a bit faster in some parts. VERY GOOD! :D

  • Technically good. Minor flaws, too much pedal, right hand consistently louder than left so you lose the back-n-forth of the melodic line, wearing a sweatshirt and you're sweating by the cadenza, way too much tension and effort. You're trying to conquer Beethoven, can't do it. Give you an A-.

  • This how Solomon play this Sonata in the 1950s before his hands become paralyse.Vladimir Horowitz played with a lot of tension too !

  • Appassionata in my favourite Beethoven sonata. It's amazing to see you play it!

  • You are exceptionally talented. What are you doing now?

  • no need to say anything...still brilliant as ever..

    ;)

  • Great!, watch Arrau... only then a piano master will you be! congratulations!

  • Very very good!

I play the piano too, but not as well as you, your interpretation is perfect! Don't stop to work and in few years you will play in the greatests concert hall...

    Congratulation!

  • hey man, great job. i'm learning how to play this right now. this sonata is one of Beethoven's more underrated sonatas. good work.

  • the appassionata= underrated????? really? what music world do u live in?

  • bro this isntt even funnyy lol do you have sheet music for this bc i cant seem to findd itt....but i givee mad props to you bro lol that was treally good im seriously impressed and its hard to impress me.

  • Very good! Well done. You play very clearly.

  • Very good. This is my favorite piano piece of all time. Thanks for posting with such good quality.

  • wow, just wonderful... How old are you ?

  • 20 now :)

  • If you open the lid of the piano and back the camera (mic) up just a bit it may help the monotonous sound some.

  • This is so awesome, man. I really liked your Grieg Concerto as well. What are your favorite composers?

  • I listen a lot to prokofiev at the moment, but chopin as well. Actually I don't like particular composers, I just have my favourite pieces which I'm listening to a lot...

  • Your technical is very good but my only complaint about your interpretation is that you keep the speed going near the beginning but when you get to the sixteenth runs on the right hand, it starts to drag. I know it's hard but, nonetheless, a very decent performance.

  • hey. Great job! I really love this 3rd movement. Appassionata is really impressing. The only beethoven's movement i can play is moonlight 1rst :p. Anyway, well done, keep playing!

  • sos un hijo de puta bien hecho!!! felicidades!!

  • veryyyyyyyyyyyy gooooooooooooooood!!!!!!! ceep up the good work.

  • Prodigies are great at music, chess, and math. Other areas also, but those are the top ones. I have great talent laying on the couch and watching TV. Sometimes I use 3 remote controls at the same time.

  • I am speechless. Wow.

  • what you do..is amazing

  • I L O V E Y O U!You're just so incredible!omg

  • it would be such a waste if you don't become a pianist!you are brilliant,incredible!why can't you become a pianist?i would definitely be your nr.1 fan :)

  • this song is dope. ending owns

  • excellent!

  • This page is for comments refering to this guys playing, not racism. 'Merde vous'? Are you kidding? Practise your french. Y supersmashmike, deja al pendejo ese ygygyg que se hable solo. Habla a lo pendejo, no te rebajes a su nivel.YGYGYGYG Spanish does not come from Mexico, It comes from Spain, which is in Europe. It looks like you are the one with no culture.

  • Impresionate, you are brilliant, you play phenomenal, i like you ;)how long(time) you are playing the piano?

  • now for 12 years, in September I start studying it at the music academy in Zurich.

  • wow, ok.

  • Zurich? O_o I live there^^ I like your piano playing, I wish you luck for the studying

    b.t.w sorry for my english^^"

  • You are AWESOME!

  • I take a deep bow and thank you for your support.

  • omg great job

  • for an average pianists like us, your interpretation is fine. not bad at all. i wouldn't want to compare you to Kissin 'coz that would be so stupid. lol. - from haydnesque@ yahoo. com

  • this isnt good.. brilliant technique..? idk.

anyways u should make a MUSIC..

  • Kapsekia

  • u say it sux? ROFL I wish i could see ur interp of this same piece.

  • 38rc

You must be from the U.S., no doubt.

    ;)

  • tic tac tic tac, metronome.

  • it sucks

  • supersmashmike45, YOU suck! And it figures that you come from Mexico! No culture; no taste, no brains!

    Merde vous!

  • No culture?, LOL!, Pinche Gabacho pendejo.

  • Igualmente, supersmashmike45.

  • ygygygygygyg, como se ve que ninguno es pianista

  • Man..... I tell you, this sonate is my favourite one and your interpretation has made my heart pound fast and strong.... great job overall

  • brilliant technique!

however, in your efforts to perfect the technique i think your missing alot of the more important details- like DYNAMICS!- Dynamics help make music so very effective for the listener.

also u need to play the right hand passages mm220- more martellato- or hammered.. that would be most effective!

But overall, like i said brilliant technique, but now make it MUSIC!
