I graduated in 84' and because our junior high had the wrath of the principle instilled in us we behaved. Those teachers shouldn't have to put up with trouble makers, but these days they have to. The girl should have been expelled. Spanking makes a rotten kid only more rebellious. It's sad that some kids really believe they are invincible. Blame should go mainly to the parents, but schools shouldn't be stuck with such bad apples. If a child is unwilling or unable to learn, but becomes a hindrance for the entire class, then that child should be removed from that classroom.
The teacher went over and beyond her duties. No spanking, but please get rid of that kid!

In the latino community, hand spanking is normal. Belt whipping is effective as well as a paddle without holes. Pusups and situps are not effective, and cables should never be used. How can you spank your children, it is such a sin. I have two sons and my husband and I have never layed a hand on our boys. They are both young men now and are good boys. I always praised and rewarded them. If they misbehaved I sat down with them and talked it through with them or they could not watch their favorite TV show. Spanking's effectiveness varies from child to child. For me, violence conducted on me results in violence back.
