  • When this station was on, they did a great job. Relaxing, easy listening music.

  • I've been trying to post a comment here for months, but each time it wouldn't "take". I am glad this and one other commercial was found and put on here. WGAY was an institution in DC and should be remembered as such.

  • My grandfather used to listen to WGAY back in the early 80's when he used to work in Washinton D.C. for the italian ambesy! :P Any way...I think that WGAY it was one of the best radio station in the world! And the reason why it's because my grandfather he used to record on tape a lot music from this station! and still today he has these tapes and it's alway a pleasure to listen to them with him! :-)

  • I worked with Bob for 5 years at WGAY, and while that commercial was airing. It was a privilege, and a great learning experience.

His voice was incredible, and he was a very honest man.

Think of him and the other wonderful people at WGAY often.

  • hey do you know where I can find any recording on WGAY on mp3 format or

do you know any songs that hey used to play back than?

  • Yes, thank you! Glad to see there are still fans out there. Thanks so much for bringing back good memories!

  • Thanks so much for posting this. This was our Dad, who passed away in the mid-nineties and it's very nice to see him again! You made the day for my sister and me, and I think this will be the first time that my nephew will see or hear his Grandpa. Pretty cool, thanks again!

  • ...I had no idea putting this up would result in such a response, but it's great! Glad you found it. As you must be aware, your dad (and grandpa) was an especially effective programmer and was quite creative in obtaining the music for his station. I remember hearing about the lengths to which he went to get just the right music.

  • Mark,

You Dad is celebrated and discussed in a very popular and long running discussion group at Yahoo called Beautiful Instrumentals and Vocals. Many of his colleagues are in the group, Marlin Taylor, Stu Phillips, Johnny Mann and countless more. The group celebrates the Beautiful/Easy Listening Music your Dad helped bring to radio. We are sorry to know he is gone, but his memory lives on in the group. Check us out if you like at YahooGroups. I own and moderate the group.

    Regards, Jim Masters

  • your dad was a great voice in the dc area and wgay will not be forgotten by those who were privileged to have listened all those years..

  • Thank you so much, I'm always so happy to hear that. He would be too!
