bloody hell. That makes me even more worried. Dual sidestick-input? I thought the only reason for that is a go-around situation in which both pilots pull the stick back max.
Shouldn't the PF flight the plane and the other pilot monitor?
Well - it's always hard to determine the actual situation from video footage. I therefore believe in the professionalism of active pilots and your explanation as you had direct contact with them.
Look you guys, the approach was stabilised and the TO/GA was pressed at the first sight of trouble but don't forget that those engines need about 7s to spool up...
hes is doing a slip. this is done when the runway being landed on has a cross wind. he most likly did not have enough experiance doing this. that explains his "go around"
Not enough experience? How many hours of flight time do you need before flying a commercial jet? Not to mention time as co-pilot before being allowed to do those landings?
I agree with GoJakob. After the first gust, I would have said "screw this" and hit that little button on the throttle controls that reads "Approach/Go Around". Nice try by him (we assume the pilot was a him) to get the bird down anyway.
@M8T12B93 it's not true. i'm portuguese and tap has plenty of aircrafts equal to Iberia aircrafts. tap are one of the most safest airline companies in the world

I'd really like to know where you've got the information from, that TOGA was pressed at the first sight of trouble.
To me it looks like he went down the glideslope much to far as it should have been clear, that he wouldn't be able to land in that windy weather.
I can also not see how this approach could be called stabilized.

I've done my MCC (Multi Crew Cooperation) here in Portugal with active TAP Captains and I have discussed this video with theme.
Actually this was caused by a dual input on the sidestick by both pilots and now there are strict procedures on how to deal with this.
I think there was also some mods made at the planes so that it could not happen by mistake (sidestick priority).
And yes, TOGA was pressed early, it's just that spool time that gives you a hard time ;)
Cheers!

the pilot had far enough experience, that's why he did the go around. I would have decided much earlier to do that...

@Pumizo obviously. We have less flights per day than most European airlines. Not to mention AMerican.
