  • THIS GUY'S AUSTRALIA'S OWN WILDLIFE GURU!!!....right!!!

Why cut down the tree?..sure it has no impact.....but for what reason. Your comments about letting more light through to the forest floor and orchids growing clearly show you know nothing about ecology in the wet-dy tropics!

You risked injury to the goanna being cut down like this. Did you use this opportunity to tell us something about the animal .....NO...nothing. A wasted opportunity.

The goanna is V. Gouldii... not panoptes!

  • hey can you get me a chinese water dragon

  • The tree survived... It's ok...

  • Dont cut the tree for catch this pretty lizard :(

  • nice catch but to be fair, that's a tiny monitor, probably no more than 6 months old

try picking up an adult panoptes next time :D

chances are you'll get scratched/bitten real badly (unless he's captive bred and accustomed to humans of course)

  • @biologyfuckyeah For sure mate (and 'no shit' lol)... Yeah, not my idea of a good time playing with adult 'big' monitors...

I love all reptiles- I just bought a juv Perentie... That said, I'd much rather see them in the wild...

  • @dunnart

ooh, a perentie, please put up a feeding vid

they're the most graceful of all large monitors, too bad they require so much space and aren't available outside of australia

  • Ahaha, I knew there would be retards commenting about you cutting that tree and 'doing harm to the environment', instead of focusing on the real problems. xD

That was an awesome job, dude. I probably would have tripped over a rock and humiliate myself, letting the lizard get away. :D

  • this is an argus monitor isn't it?

  • Varanus panoptes, the yellow spotted monitor, northern Australia...

  • yeh that is an argus monitor then lol. just another name :P great catch

  • AlienFireFox-

I removed your last comment- racial comments will not be tolerated...

  • Looks like a Varanus flavirufus...not 100% sure though. Definitely gouldii complex

  • It's V. panoptes... Close though...

  • great way of doing it mate

cutting down a perfectly good tree and all

  • One of 65 billion in the area... A young tree that is replaced quickly in that environment... One of 30 billion trees that burn in fires in that part of the world each year... The creation of an opening to benifit understorey plant species...

Focus on real environmental issues mate!

  • either way why cut down a perfectly good tree for no particular reason

you coulda atleast used it for fire wood or something preferably out of the bush however

im no greeny but i dont like seein a perfectly good tree cut down for no reason if it was to do something with i'd have no problem

  • heaps kool

  • Aww, what a cute lizard.

  • I reckon too...

    :)

  • Thanks... AND JUST SO PEOPLE KNOW- EUCALYPTS DONT DIE WHEN THEY ARE COPPICED AND THE GOANNA WAS RELEASED UNHARMED AND A LITTLE BIT WISER :)

  • stfu hippy?

your house is made outta fucking trees bitch

  • Sorry mate, I know what Im doing... Are you now crying over a tree being chopped down? Seriously? And you want me to grow up!? Do you understand bushland ecology? I've studied it, observed it, lived it and breathed it for decades- the loss of this tree will now open the woodland floor to sunlight and facilitate the grow of the many smaller, rarer plant species such as orchids etc...

  • I'm sorry, I'm not seeing any harm here... Did you see any harm? Seriously? Get a cause! Do you have a background in animals ethics? Environment management? Habitat restoration?

    In fact, who are you?

  • You better not into sport fishing are giving us all this shit?? I reckon that's a fuckin' cruel and senseless venture...

Look, I think it's cool that you are into the welfare of the environment and animals etc... You get points for that... So are we... We'll agree to disagree... I hope I didn't offend you too- I enjoyed are banter and I thank you (:

  • Nope, not into any kind of fishing, hunting or what have you. Agreeing to disagreeing it is. And no, I don't get offended. The concern is appreciated anyway, ;)

  • This message clearly shows how little you know about the environment. The introduced grass to so called imporved pasture has had far great damage by intense frenquent burns killing millions of wildlife in these tropical woodlands. This tree will re-shoot. look on google earth and look at Bornea, Amazon, Congo vast forests 1000 square kilometres are being cut down fo paper to wipe your ass with and so you can read your mags, get your prioritys straighten out dude. think beofore open your mouth.

  • firstly, he was released... secondly, not an ackie... thirdly, videos like this also encourage people to get out into the environment and care...

    Harden the fuck up...

  • Regardless of whether you released it or not, you still cut down a tree to catch an animal for absolutely no reason.

Videos like this encourage people to get out into the environment and do the same- not care. If I ever see people cutting tree down to catch a lizard, I'll make sure to inform the EPA, and give them a reference back to you as the one that started it.

"Harden the fuck up" Where'd that come from? Harden up how? I could say "grow up" to you, but I'd doubt I'd have an impact.

  • "we treat animals with respect"

So you cut down a tree to catch a scared animal, and threaten it with the possibility of being hurt BY THE FALLING TREE? Yup, that I can see *sarcasm*. If we had more people like you, we'd have a lot less wildlife. You THINK you're doing a good thing, but HOW? What purpose was there in catching that ackie? Absolutely none.

    Hope you rot in hell.

  • fare call

  • dawm at the end that thing went fast

  • Did ya eat him no.. I hope he put a hole in ya ..

  • we fucken let him go,watch the end of the footage. We didn't catch him again. Never got bitten mate. we treat animals with respect and eat when we are hungery and not for the sake of it!

Me and me mate Love all creatures great and

small and we would never hurt or harm animal intentionally.

    Bites and Sting Inc.
