sounds great, what is the B string like on the 305? is it a bit floppy or do you like it? They keep it at 34" scale don't they? I was wondering because I really like my 4 string ATKs.

@Pudsy440 the B is tight and plays well... AFAIK the scale is 35", in fact I can't use D'Adario strings because they are too short... I have to use Extra long scale DR's #LMR5-45. No store stocks them, so I have to order online. I love this bass, but the string avail is a pain.

@NOONE3NOON Ok, thanks, I dunno why I had it in my head that Ibanez kept the scale at 34" ... cool, good to know, I really want to pick one of these up sometime, if I can find one ... seems harder to find 2nd hand ATk's these days for some reason, I guess their popularity has gone up since youtube maybe. Nice solid bass for the money no doubt with a good tone.

What strings do you use? I just purchased a 2008 ATK305 and supposedly they come stock with Elixir strings.

I find the sound somewhat tinny on the d and g strings. Your thoughts?

@mmbkey1 dude this question has been haunting me since I bought this bass on craigslist. I usually use d'addario strings, but they do not fit on this bass (too short). I actually have to use the strings I use for my long scale Peavey Cirrus (Cirrus Xtra Long). Everything else is too short. If you find another brand that works then PLEASE let me know!

I have a Japanese ATK300 but I'm thinking about getting an ATK305.

@curlyback thanks! USATK are a limited addition made in the USA in the mid 90s. They have the brass nut on the "tension free" neck.
