This is brilliant. Bea is amazing. I don't know what those rude jackasses are doing behind her. Why couldn't they just sit and listen. I remember Bea sang this in her one woman show on Broadway. One of the best!
Bea Arthur never gave herself enough credit--she always said of her singing "I'm not very good". Of course, she wasn't the best judge of her own talent. She was a wonderful singer in the great stage/cabaret tradition. So much character in her voice! I love to hear her singing this.
I miss this lady so much. To me she was one of those people on tv that you wanted to live forever. I'm so glad she came along and entertained us so well. Maude and The Golden Girls will make me smile for years and years till I'm gone myself I think. Happy Days. :-)
Who cares that she did have the greatest singing voice, when one can give a heartbreaking performance like this? Same applies to Ms. Lansbury and Ms. Stritch.
@picturefan2009 Great comment! I totally agree. Not a bad voice at all, but certainly not known as a stellar vocalist. Yet, her interpretation was brilliant.
@theplantpimp Sorry, I commented before it was over. "Knew" that didn't sound like the same version from the audio cd I have of her show, "Just Between Friends". That said, a treasure, to be sure.
