@Testbuildlabs I posted this as a joke, but I can assure everyone that this was a legitimate hardware issue. If I were going to "fake" something, it would have involved something far more suggestive (penile and/or vaginal in origin). JFC - a blower failure in the fan array and the system compensated in a bizarre way. I was mildly amused then simply replaced the array. All is well. No hairdryer trickery.
lol - it pros - what happened to you? sensor got out blah blah - I am no.01 apple hater - but what seems to be happening here is that this guy took out a hair dryer and while the system was starting up and leds were blinking he's made this video
how? check out the noise which reflects that the the hairdryer is near the camera's mic (on his other hand)
Fan control should be built into the BMC firmware of the server. I've never been impressed with Apple server gear. I have a Dell Poweredge R300 1U server at my home and it stays quiet all the time while running. Only gets loud at first boot or if there is a fault, which I have never experienced.
When Xserves attack !!! ... Good thing we made an enclosure for that wild Apple server. We put a glass front door on our enclosure so you could view the wild Xserve in its natural environment while visitors stay safe behind the locked door LOL
I think it just finished the quarter mile drag!!!

The temperature sensor has probably gone out. The system see jumble as the temperature and freaks out the fans.
Not for certain though.

You used fan control software.
FAIL.
CarManiac225 2 years ago
Eh, ok. Does that control the flashing indicator on the system too?
scarspysa 1 year ago
@CarManiac225 No this is real my Xserve does the same thing. Thats why people keep it in the basement or closet!
